    Hey REM! Good to hear from you. Your trees are looking good, and the ones that are flowering are amazing. Lots of production on the way. I just finished RE-white washing my avocado trees and am going to be moving them to a shadier spot for the summer. It just got too hot for them last year, and I am starting a remodel of our house in a couple of weeks, so I need to clear out some space for the bobcat that will do some of the demolition. Once the construction is done, I will be planting the avocado trees in-ground. Can't wait! I see you are watering your trees now. My ground is still quite wet from the heavy rains, and there is more rain on the way. I gave the avocados a lite feeding 3 weeks ago, and they look good so far, and their pots (15 gal and 25 gal) are still quite damp. When do you think you'll start feeding your trees this season?

    • @AvocadoTalk
      @AvocadoTalk  4 місяці тому

      Feeding them now is on the list of to do's. I should have done them in January of this year but it is OK, they say that monthly light fertilizing is OK when they are young then every 2 months then 4 times a year. I do it when I can, should plan it better but trees are doing just fine.
      I plan to turn the water off and until after the rains and the soil dries out to turn it back on. I ran it just to test it but I've had it running when it was still wet, didn't hurt them but a little wasteful since the rains...good luck on the remodel, I have some big plans this year for a BBQ area, need to get going on it too. Thanks for watching!

      My Jim Bacon just hasn't done much unfortunately. It might be where I have it which is close to some eucalyptus. I've had it in the ground for 2 years and I've gotten one fruit so far and unfortunately an animal got to it before I could enjoy it. It's still small so maybe once it gets older and a lot more mature kind of like yours it's going to start to get better I hope.

    • @AvocadoTalk
      @AvocadoTalk  4 місяці тому +1

      I haven't really noticed any differences between some of my fertilizers that have used, but lately I've been trying to switch it up and do different types of fertilizers. So no big noticeable differences so far but if I do notice something I'll definitely mention it.
      To be honest, I haven't been applying that much fertilizer 2 years ago I applied it three times, last year i applied it once and this year so far I haven't applied any. I have some trees that I feel seems to be falling behind so my plan for this year and probably this coming weekend is to apply a chicken fertilizer and a TRUE organic fertilizer. Thanks for wanting!

    Boa noite! São muitas variedades de abacates, não conhecia. Aqui no Brasil estado de Pernambuco tenho duas variedades mas ainda não frutificaram, são enxertos, mas ainda estão no vaso. Este ano vou plantá - los no solo. Depois que vi seus vídeos e explicações, fiquei curioso para saber qual seriam os tipos que tenho pois não conheço, não frutificação ainda. Comprei essas mudas como Hass somente. Se puder me ajudar a saber qual seriam? Poderia enviar fotos para seu e mail, se possível identificá - los para mim? Parabéns pelo seu trabalho!

      On the Zutano it was Antelco 360 Degree Adjustable Spinner: amzn.to/3kAOfzC

    • @AvocadoTalk
      @AvocadoTalk  3 місяці тому

      That fertilizer works, although it's not extremely hot, check the soil, if it's bone dry you might want to water them. Also make sure you keep as much of the leaves as mulch as possible, it breaks down and the worms will make it the best fertilizer. Congrats you got flowers hopefully you get some fruit, good luck!

    Looks like you're going to have a bumper crop this year. Do you ever prune your trees or just let them do their thing? It looks like your avocado trees don't drop their leaves when they bloom. Almost all of mine (in containers) go bare and look very funny. Full of blooms with no leaves until the new growth fills in.

    • @AvocadoTalk
      @AvocadoTalk  4 місяці тому +1

      Some of my trees do that when they bloom heavily, they put all their energy into flowing and drop leaves. I noticed that they tend to drop more leaves in containers. My Carmen did that one year, no leaves then new growth came in.
      I plan to top my trees, don't want them to get too tall and hard to access fruit. I'm finally at the stage when they are big enough and need a good topping. Thanks for watching!

    I have planted 300 hass avocado plants last year, But they are all grown from seedlings as per nursery from where I took them.
    I have bought some more which are also grown from seed and is Indian butterfruit variety.
    Can you tell me if I'll get some fruits from it in coming years?

    • @AvocadoTalk
      @AvocadoTalk  3 місяці тому

      If they were seedlings then grafted with Hass then you will get Hass fruit relatively quickly. (2-3 years). If they were just seedlings from a Hass avocado tree then it will take a lot longer, in some cases 10+ years. Also the fruit may or may not be good tasting , that is the risk with growing avocados straight from seed. The key word is grafted, most growers will sell trees that are already grafted. Good luck, sounds like an amazing 300+ trees
