REM, thanks for the irrigation part of the video. I definitely need these kinds of videos to help me figure out how to set up the irrigation for the needs I have. Keep bringing all new information and ideas you have on this irrigation topic. 👍
I installed that rainbird kit this summer. Made in Mexico, not China - which is nice. I also use the orbit wifi beehyve. It can be pretty glitchy, but the only wifi option I can see for the general consumer. I use the smart watering setting.
The worst flaw is that if the batteries die during a watering cycle, the timer will water indefinitely. It's happened to me, fortunately I was home at the time.
Also, sometimes it will glitch out and not log watering cycles. Frustrating when you are trying to determine how much you have watered over a period of time.
@@budstik dang, at least you were home. yeah it's a DC latching design so it will stay open. For me: battery was low so it didn't turn on right before a heat wave. Then the plastic threaded hose connection cracked. I was on vacation, my neighbor heard it running for a couple of days and went over and turned it off. The in ground valve option is the best.
@@budstik my b hive does that at times too. Sometimes mine tries to be smart and shut itself off because it thinks it's raining at my house but where I live it's kind of weird because it will rain all around me but not where I'm at. So then the sun comes out and my trees are burning up. I would rather have it just prompt me and let me know that it's going to turn off and allow me to either accept it or decline. Not too many complaints overall is working well.
Hey REM - Amazing to see all the rain!! It's gotten quite cloudy here in LA, but no rain as of yet, but too cloudy to view the Super Moon we are getting tonight. Very cool that Louie's has Oro Negro and Russell avocados. They look pretty healthy in the video. They are more common in Florida. I wonder if they propagated them or got them from somewhere else? Thanks for the video. Stay hydrated my friend!!
Hello... The rain was strong but short. There was a QR code on the tag, I should have checked it. Not sure where they are getting their trees from but I did see a lot of mangos too and it seems like they got a big shipment from Florida. Just speculation of course. Stay hydrated!
You're so lucky about the rain. We didn't get any in San Diego. But my trees are exploding with growth from the tropical storm two weeks ago and all the humidity.
Hello REM wishing you a great September . I'm looking for the newly UC released avocado variety named LUNA which is officially named BL516 previously Marvelous I think when it was under development. Any idea where to begin I heard that if you become CRFG member you can get access to scions.🥑👍
@@SVmathfarmer @831AVO Hi Guys Looks like they made it more difficult to get one. Yes you now have to go through GreenMotion Avocados to place the request and get it approved. No hurry for me at this point. I'm going to call my other contact to see if there is something else that can be done. We'll see....
REM I was wondering if louies had any bigger sized jan boyce trees? Last time they told me they have some in 15 gallon pots but they were small just grafted sleeve size trees. Its a 2 hour drive so it would save me some gas
Yeah $99.00... If I didn't already have an Oro, I would have gotten one. Let me know if you get one. The Russell looks interesting 🤔 Thanks for watching!
Nice set up and tip about getting the timer with the brass fitting. The filter makes a lot of sense too.
I had a plastic one and of course it failed when I was on vacation. My water bill was high that month. Thanks for watching!

Hi Neal, will do. I know you have a lot of trees, the application is the same but a lot more planning and work.
I have several Orbit B -Hyve timers. They work well. I can control programs from phone anywhere I have cell service

Nice, well done... So what type of glitches? Just no connection at times?

@@AvocadoTalk That's interesting. I would not be surprized if they came from Florida. Maybe this is a sign of more things to come.
Nice finds!
The more avocados grow in popularity and interest, the more varieties will start to become available. Thanks for watching!
@AvocadoTalk Exactly! I am growing 2 local bay area varieties Lamorinda and Giant (aka Gordo) to help get them out into the world.
@@growyourownavocados is that Greg's Gordo?
@AvocadoTalk Yes, that is his name for it.
I know someone who has been eating them since the nineties. He is from Mexico and says they're excellent!
@@growyourownavocados I wouldn't mind getting one. We'll have to do a scion swap one day.
Nice video REM, you have a nice looking backyard.
Thanks 👍

I think you guys got more from the tropical storm than we did which was huge. I to got new weeds coming up. It feels like summer is over 😭
@@AvocadoTalk don't be sad about summer ending, be happy we're entering Mexicola harvest season!
@@ivanguajardo7111 😂😂😂.
I only have 2 mexicola this year as of right now. Squirrels ate the others.

@@AvocadoTalkhi REM you think we can do Luna group but next year from Brokaw if enough people want?

I checked everything and no Jan Boyce. Last time I was there, they had 5 gallon but super small. If I see something, I'll probably do a quick video.
@@AvocadoTalk thank you
Russell grown mostly in Florida can't take cold well not good north of grapevine.
I ended up passing on the Russell, probably would do ok in my yard.
Nice video REM. I'm interested in the Oro Negro. Was the Oro Negro the same price as the Russell? I wonder how the Russell tastes?

Russell is Different yes but not great. I've tried them for a couple of years at supposed peak ripeness and just not enough oil content for me.
Thank you so much, I was leaning on the NO side and this confirms it for me. Thanks for watching!
C'est la dernière fois que je Scrolls 😅
Are you from France? Are you growing avocados there?
@@AvocadoTalk yes i'm seed 150 avocado hass IS good for year 👍🥑
