I knew this was gonna be good, but it was better than good! You bring out the best in everybody - really enjoyed this one!!!! Thanks Mike and thanks "Wiggie"!!
Anton is the reason I actually started watching Late Night back around 1987. My friend who was a year older told me the drummer for Ace Frehley actually drums on the show so I would put a tape in and record it each night more so in early 1988. I got to meet Anton on Nov 15 2004 (Jerry Springfield, Jamie Oliver) after the show and he was super friendly and took the time to have a photo with this big dork. Thank you Anton for taking the time. It meant a lot. I actually have purchased the old Blue Yamaha kit that Anton played on from 86-92 around there. I know he had a wrapped kit with those white covers on them. I'm pretty sure that was the same kit. I love how it plays. I will use it to record one day and I think I'll try to record myself playing Rip It Out or similar. Thanks again Anton for all the great performances on drums plus all the goofy skits. It was a huge part of my youth.
Anton's blue Yamaha Tour Custom drums were the very drums that I wanted to play in the late 1980s. I ended up buying white Power Tour Customs in 1989. Not quite in the same league, but I tried my best.
@@fortedrummer3026 And do they sound great? I love mine. I had a Pearl Birch (early 80's kit) kit, then a Premier birch. This one is Mahogany and it has really nice punch.
I love all of your interviews with the band members like Paul, Will, Felicia, Al, Tom and this one. Clearly, Dave was a fan of drums and the art of drumming. He would ask the drummers "Are those your drums?" I fondly remember drum solo week where they had the iconic Neil Peart on the show.
Yes! You were able to get an iconic musician from David Letterman's Late Night show and Late Show on your show this week. Yes! Anton is great along with Paul, Sid, Will, and all of the others. You knew that Dave was cool with Paul Shaffer and various incarnations of his band.
@@NP-ip3nj appreciate that! We would have, but it’s been talked about so many times; his staff favorite moments on the official channel has a wonderful recap
A funny coincidence is I knew a guy who drummed in a local rock band back in the late 80s and 90s whose nickname was Zippy. I'm not sure if that stuck into his 50s
I just saw that you replied to my Rupert Jee "Letter Number 1" comment! You mentioned that you saw the clip. Do you have a link? That's my '15 seconds' of fame ;)

@@dumbguydepot304 that’s fantastic :)
All the members of Paul’s band are really down to earth and are extremely encouraging.

Always loved his work with Ace Frehley, especially on that first solo album in '78. He and Ace have fantastic chemistry.

@@KungEMuller very much so. The music was an essential element in the the alchemy of what made the productions so cool.
@@thelettermanpodcast You're right about that.
Another good guest snag for you... question- Have you ever received feedback that Mr. Letterman is aware of this podcast?
