    My iron game is totally consistent. Every swing is a state of confusion and I have no idea what is going to happen.

    Exactly. A lot of us amateurs don't have the time to get really consistent. Played a not-so-great round today, only 3 solid driver tee shots, one solid 3 wood tee shot, and hit the pin for the first time on a par 3. Few good shots but not enough for a good score for my skill level. Oh my God... that final point was gold. Learning shot shapes from "inconistency" and changing set up at address. Oh the irony of it all. This video was really down to earth, Chris. Thank you.

    Love this drill. How does this eventually end up becoming part of your swing? Is it a case of just doing repetitions of the drill at the start of a session?

    Great vid again Chris just wondered when courses are open again would you fancy doing a vid with say one of your pupils and play say 4 holes and explain your format on the course and give us mere mortals😊 a idea hope you set up playing different holes .think you would be great as you explain things so well 👍

    I was so hoping that the next grab from your bag was finally going to be the magic dust that MUST be involved! 🤣
    Seriously, although I appreciate you running through the "fundamentals", I'm wondering what a realistic amount of time or number of swings, a person should be doing to get that "muscle memory" to be able to automatically perform consistently on the course. And, I think some of the inconsistency a lot of amateur also experience comes from the fact that we aren't always hitting our shots from prime locations on the course.

    Great video Chris once again. I am very consistent iron player but when it comes to a driver I am very inconsistent . any tips for that..thank you

    • @ChrisRyanGolf
      @ChrisRyanGolf  3 роки тому +1

      Hey Ed, yeah I hear that a lot, theoretically the swing should be the same, so I would first check set up and then strike point on the club face as those two things can cause issues with the driver 👍

    • @frankkovalak1967
      @frankkovalak1967 3 роки тому

      Unlike you, I am inconsistent hitting iron shots (pulling them left probably from swinging over the top), but hitting 12 or 14 out of 14 fairways with my driver. Switching to a Ping G30 SF (straight flight) driver helped me hit most fairways. Just close the face slightly at set up, take the club straight back the first two feet, hinge the club face up, then lead with the lower body before swinging in a in to out path toward right field. Good luck.

  • @mitchellbonomi9309

    You make the swing look so effortless, my problem with consistency is impact, meaning hitting top, short, I have no problem with aiming or direction just solid impact on a regular basis, I feel my set up is okay, trying to focus on takeaway, (speed and direction) shallowing out the club, hip movement to begin downswing and follow through I may hit the target correctly maybe 15% of the time, I am 62yrs old, so I don't expect to smash it, but after being away from golf for 25yrs, getting 200yds with driver is okay..just wish I could strike the ball at the ball all the time..Is it possible that some people(me) just doesn't have what it takes..my short game is fine, long game has always been my weakness..

    Another very useful video, Chris - developing a neutral everything is a great platform for consistent golf. A couple of points, though: a neutral grip doesnt achieve much if the clubface isn't aimed at the target and (sorry!) your two pitches into the ravine were waaaay left ☺

    Excellent Chris. Its quite odd but if you visualise a fade or a draw somehow the body adapts your swing to bring it off. I have played for many years so my body has learnt to do it through trial and error I suppose. Thanks David

    • @ChrisRyanGolf
      @ChrisRyanGolf  3 роки тому

      David that is the best way to play, once you have trained abs developed the skills, you can head onto the course with just the shot in mind abs execute, that’s the ideal way to play 👍

    Fade irons lose carry distance, land soft.
    Draw irons run out, & if pulled finish off line. High irons lose run time; low irons may run more if I don’t dig too much!

    • @ChrisRyanGolf
      @ChrisRyanGolf  3 роки тому

      Hey Rich, thoug to say without seeing the swing, but it will be most likely losing the body angles into impact, or the club shaft being too steep during the downswing 👍
