    Good video Chris. I think the warning should be that many amateurs get confused with getting the weight forward, and end up with the shoulders and head way in front of the ball at impact, causing a horrific over the top swing. It’s so important to keep that head at or slightly behind the ball at impact.

    Thanks Chris. Very helpful video. Consistency of a balanced finish has been a struggle. I’m also one of the players you alluded to that has reasonably good technique in practice, but things often breakdown on the course. So, I’m looking forward to the video you mentioned that addresses the mental side of the game.

    Another excellent video. Had this same issue when I changed to a rotational swing recently, my feet essentially didnt know what to do. Looking at Ben Hogans swing made me learn, seeing his swing is a great visual with his exaggerated movements, he really transfers the pressure to his leading foot before he finishes the back swing. It takes some confidence to make the change but well worth it in the long run.

    “Weight left (stop hanging back)”
    ... Easy to say, difficult to do.
    Most of us never really get all the way over to the left. Hang back and the ball goes right ... every time. I open my left foot at address, setup with more weight forward, try to shift left in transition and I STILL don’t get to that good “pro” finish position. I think it’s a physical limitation, a flexibility issue.
    Gotta try letting my head rotate. “Keep your head down” is the worst advice ever given. Makes sense... let the head go, torso (and weight) should follow. I have to try this ☝🏻
    Thank you, Chris 🙏🏻
    ... this is a huge issue for MOST of us.

    Good advice for irons and some woods for accurarcy. The driver is different, a lot of the long hitters WILL fall back due to opposing forces. Club goes forward and body goes back for maximum speed. Look at the greatest Jack Nckaus

      Agreed, driver often creates a different pattern, the pressure still moves to the lead side early, but as you say often as they push up they move backwards 👍

    • @ChrisRyanGolf
      @ChrisRyanGolf  3 роки тому

      Hey Johnny, if it helps with an element of the swing that you need to improve then great and I’d advise you keep that as a swing thought. I wouldn’t say there is any real correlation between the two, but very often a golfers feel can help even if the reality is a little different 👍

    If the weight starts forward just slightly before the backswing is completed is that allowing the club to fall into “the slot”? Seems like an almost foolproof way to not come over the top too. I will try this next outing cause all my buddies say I never get to my left side..

    One of the main reasons for hanging back / topping / chunking is having the club face open coming into the release. Then staying back and flipping is the only way to square the face. Surprised not to see that explanation here (with a tip or two to remedy this).

    Question about visualization: shouldn’t we visualize what our body does NOT what the ball flight does? We can control our body movements but not the actual flight.

    • @golfnutnz9274
      @golfnutnz9274 3 роки тому

      Hi Timo, in my view you’re sort of right but not quite. It’s good during practice to visualise your body movements and club path to try and obtain the flight that you’re looking for, ie. low, high, draw, fade or of course, a combination of them all. Once you’ve obtained that skill through your practice and start playing your game, before each shot you then want to visualise your intended ball flight to get where you want to go. And, if you’ve practiced enough, in theory, your skills will automatically hit the ball to the desired position, if not... more practice required! Just my humble view and I’m sure Chris will explain it better than I.

    • @ChrisRyanGolf
      @ChrisRyanGolf  3 роки тому +1

      Great question Timo and lots of discussion about which is best. For me a combination of the two works really well. For many, visualising what flight they want allows the body to organise itself in such a way that you create that flight, a really great and simple way of playing. However, that doesn’t work for everyone and some find they have to focus on how the body moves to create the shot. It’s trying to establish which works for each individual, but in many cases the both together can really help
