ABOUT DANNY
-----------------------
Thanks for stopping by. I created this website as a resource just for you to support you on your golfing journey as I know how tricky learning this game can be…to say the least!
I personally found learning the game too long and difficult in the early days. I read all the books, watched all the videos but my game was not improving. Then after studying various forms of neuro science, motor learning, psychology and personal development in less than two years I went from struggling golfer to the final stage of the Open Championship.
On UA-cam and my personal website (www.dannymaude.com) I will bring you the most up to date training, training that is getting tangible results for my clients right now. I don’t know where you are in your golfing journey, you could be just starting out or maybe your body isn’t as flexible as it once was or you’ve got ambitions to slash your handicap. Wherever you are I’ve created a place here you can learn, share your ideas, ask questions and get all the support you need to enjoy this great game.
Be prepared though. If it's a quick fix you are after Im not your man. Here I will give you step-by-step advice that you can take straight to the practice ground and apply to the course but it will require you to get stuck in, screw up…a lot, practice some more and then watch those scores tumble
I’ve had the pleasure of coaching thousands of students all around the world and if you are up for the challenge and are ready to get in the game…LETS GO TO WORK!

This golf lesson provides a couple of wonderful drills to help you hit your driver straight. If you are a beginner golfer and are looking for some golf driver tips that are simple and easy to do then you are going to love this.
I will show you the golf swing slow motion so that you can see what you need to do to improve.
We look at 3 things:
1. How to stop slicing your driver
2. How to swing more in to out or how to swing more inside out
3, How to get the correct impact position with driver
and I hope to do all this with simple golf tips so you can create an effortless golf swing
I create a practice plan for every one of my videos. You can access this weeks plan here: www.dannymaude.com/Greatest-golf-drill-Ive-ever-seen If you want to learn more about the wrist sensor I use in this video use this link here: hackmotion.com/dannymaude. If you use the code dannymaude there's a nice discount too.
is there a good number range at address for hackmotion? thanks
I just remembered that back in the '80's, when I was a junior, I was always taught to tuck a long tee or folded old score card under the velcro of my glove so that it dug into my wrist if I was getting it wrong. I've only been back playing golf for 22 months now, after a 33 year hiatus, but every now and then little snippets come back to me like this. You have been monumental in my golf comeback, Danny! I'm playing off 8 now at my home course, but can play 5 over occasionally at Augusta National on my at home SIM. I play golf in one form or another every day now, but I sooooo wish I had my 16 year old body again! 😭😆. Thank you for helping me regain my love, and hate😂, for the game of golf!
@davidreid2301 thank you so much for your support. It’s great to hear that you are back playing golf. Enjoy 👍🏻
Another great lesson by Danny the GOAT on the importance of a square clubface! I would only add that for most people, once they get the clubface square, they will initially hit a lot of pull hooks. That is to be expected since it will take some time to stop flicking or coming over the top. Don’t give up on the square clubface, the swing will follow. The hockey stick drill is an important part two to this video once you learn to get the clubface square. Do it!
💯 agree
Danny giving all the secrets today.
From experience, this takes time to work into a golf swing. I hit a ton of bad shots trying to acquire these feels. It's repetition after repetition that will get you there. Most amateurs will give up on these drills after a bucket of balls because they may not get the desired results right away.
@@cluman1 great advice
I’m working hard on the drills Danny and am already seeing dividends. The hockey one is not a natural for those of us who grew up with a hurl ☘️ but it really does groove the move through the ball. Thanks and wowza to you this morning.
Hey John, have a great morning
I have had the biggest issues with the swing and my wrist at impact. I am very excited to try this tomorrow. Thank you, Danny. I have been watching you for about a year, and you are a fantastic coach. If you ever find yourself in Texas, I would love to have an in-person lesson.
Really kind Ronnie thank you
Another great “simple” practice point to use, so basic, but so important! Thanks again
Pleasure, have a great week
The sweep the table and the grip change (to stronger) you recomended has changed my game. I'm really enjoying my golf at the mo. also the grip trainer has really helped bed the change in. Thanks, Danny!
That’s great to hear, thanks for sharing
Each week-end I’m waiting for the new Danny lesson! Thanks again for these great drills, can’t wait to practice this afternoon!
@SC-ie1ih thank you so much for your support. Enjoy practicing 👍🏻
Excellent again Danny more drills to try .Saturday morning is my favourite time of the week 😂
@richardgatehouse1520 thank you 👍🏻 enjoy practicing 👍🏻
Happy Holidays Danny and thankful for all that you.
Happy holidays!
Just got my HackMotion device and afterv some problems pairing it will be using it whilst doing these drills Danny. Unlikely I will get 176 yards carry with my 7 iron but perhaps with my driver!
@@geoffreyseaman4685 love to hear how you get on Geoffrey
Perfect timing as a reminder to me. I have become undisciplined with the lead wrist lately and have been hitting to the right. I just hit 75 balls in my garage with an increased focus on making sure the club face is closed at the top of the backswing - and then fire away. Yes! It felt good. Thanks.
Thanks David 😁
New to Danny’s lessons. Really good video and food for thought. Thanks. Looking forward to more….
Great to have you here Stephen
Genius, every time Danny. You truly are a master in your field.
@@tsc9034 thanks so much for your support
Danny, what can I say? Brilliant as usual. You simplify the golf swing that I at 78 can identify with. Many Thanks!
Really kind thank you
Well done Danny working hard on my game during the winter months 👏 😊
@royclose946 that’s great to hear. Enjoy & thank you for your support 👍🏻
Finally addressing a block right. And follow through after impact. Thank you
You are very welcome
Thanks Danny, makes a lot of sense. That device you use on your wrist is interesting. I just got fitted for Cobra Darkspeeds which suit my game. Hopefully your continued tutorials with further help my game. Have a good weekend
That’s great Matt, hope you enjoy them
Excellent video Danny...Nice work brother!!!
Really kind thank you, happy to help
I always look forward to your videos! The advice at [4:02] was especially useful for improving my game
@The_GolfGuru thank you so much for your support 🙏🏻
Awesome lesson! Thank you, Danny!
Absolute pleasure
As usual another great video!
Thank you Martin! Appreciate the support 😁
Another great video. Thank you! My left wrist suffers from too many old bicycle crashes, and I suspect it's contributing to my clubface issues. It's got me thinking about the HM, although I often regret buying most swing aids.
Happy to help JT 👍
I feel this video ties into the one you did recently about your lead hand angle at setup and during the backswing where you just raise it to point straight.
Absolutely
Squaring up the club face is #1 for sure!
Can, or have you done a video on how to have the correct in to out swing PATH?
Absolutely check this one out ua-cam.com/video/T6gqADpWoFI/v-deo.htmlsi=QVGCGkQ669JrDNw7
@@DanielMaude GOOD video!
Do you do video analysis?
I’m having a terrible time doing what your videos explain, and can’t seem to keep from coming across the ball, which, as you know, results in pulls or slices.
Danny, you did a brilliant job explaining why ice hockey players love golf. Hitting a powerful slap shot is a great feeling.
Absolutely Bill
Great lesson. Q - I get confused around whether I am squaring that club face through impact and beyond (using my arms) or if you don't need to do that and are just relying on the turn. Both are completely different feelings and I'm not sure which is correct, especially if trying to get more distance.
It’s always a blend of the two
Terry Cork
Good lesson Danny, I'm still here but not playing at the moment.
Great to hear, weather is chilly
Thanks for all of this Danny. Question: how do you position the club face on initial setup?
I aim it a little right of target
Danny , on the back swing, what are we making the face square to ? Thankyou !
Hi Jordy, I don’t really look at it like that. I know some say it should stay square to the spine angle but the aim is to bring the club back into impact square consistently.
If you roll your wrists excessively in the backswing you can still bring the club face back to square at impact it’s just a little more difficult.
I like to keep things super simple, check this video out ua-cam.com/video/sZqAZ-vtEr0/v-deo.htmlsi=N2ndI2DUn1m4sTMz
Love the hockey reference! Hockey players rest the blade on the ice behind the puck, anchor the lead hand, and lean their weight on the shaft. The flex of their shaft is insane! In slo-mo it's amazing!
Absolutely, it’s such a great feeling for golf too
More fantastic advice
Glad it was helpful!
Great tip Danny. Any tips for checking the clubface without the use of Hackmotion?
@@dougellio7000 absolutely, I will often use a video camera to see
Thanks!it helped a lot!
@Theoneprogamerr that’s great to hear. Thank you 👍🏻
Danny, can you state which irons you are using to strike the ball? It's to see the distance with each club matching with expectations. Thank You!
Love this guy
Thanks so much for the support
Nice i go to that golf course aswell i might see you some time!
@@MrBob_FN it would be great
Great drill as a Canadian who played Hockey feels natural.
Happy to help 😁
I usually look forward to waking up on Saturdays, watching Danny’s video with a cup of coffee, and heading out for 18. Today, it’s 24 freaking degrees outside. I think I might reschedule for this afternoon. 🥶
😂
Thanks great tip, whenever I practice your tips though my persistent problem still remains. I have what I call the head yips, which sometimes can when I play badly be 90% of my round.(My head milliseconds before I hit the ball starts going in the direction of my swing, with the obvious result) I'm beginning to feel that I'm doing it so much it's
now muscle memory!!! Is there anything I can do to overcome this?
Spend time picturing the shot or associating with the flight of the ball as this can help you become less focused on swing
Great lesson Danny but how do I know if I have to square the club at the top of my backswing or is it a simple case that everyone has to.
Hi Sean, club face should be close to matching the angle of the lead wrist.
Worth checking on camera or using a device like Hackmotion for feedback
So having a club face open at impact is something I've been fighting for a long time and working on. Club is square or even closed at top of swing and my arms and shoulders are loose. However, at impact, I find my club face is sometimes open and I block the shot to the left (I am LH). I'm trying to keep my arms connected to my body but my hands just don't seem to move quickly enough. Have tried swings from hip, slow motion swings, feet together drills to get my hands to supinate in the follow through. Anything else I can try to square up my club face at impact? Thanks for your videos...always enjoy them.
I have two sons that played ice hockey and they crush the golf ball. They have really fast slap shots and know I can see how they are applying it in the swing. Thanks!!!
@ajbusse502 that’s great. Thank you for your support. Enjoy practicing 👍🏻
Love that hockey stick analogy for feel, I am sure hack motion is a great product, pity they couldn’t make it sound better. 🙉
It’s funny, it can be brutal feedback sometimes 😂
I am making good and consistent contact with my irons, but they are consistently pull shots with occasional nice straight shot. What am I missing in my swing? I videoed my swing from behind and I am not going over the top. Can you recommend one of your videos that could help me with this issue?
If you are pulling the ball then your club path and face are aiming left at impact. Consider looking at alignment of body and even pushing the ball a little back in your stance
Which feature of the hack motion is that? Mine is just always forcing me into drills that I don't want to do. It never gives me those live feedback sounds, only pings when I hit the ball.
I just customise the angles that I want
Settings>Biofeedback Settings>Audio On.
Saturday morning means Danny! ⛳️
@neilsmith2240 thank you for your support 👍🏻
Hi great instruction as always, i have noticed that on iron set up my left wrist is straight but on driver it's always locked this causes a open face as you have shown, is this normal?? Cheers
Hi there, I’m not sure exactly what you mean. Happy to help if you can elaborate
Hi sorry i ment to say , on irons lh wrist is good as your video as its easy to set up this up, but on driver the lh wrist is cupped at set up and top of arc so it produces a open face , is it possible to set up wrist with driver so you font have to change the lh wrist ? @@DanielMaude
So is it a hack motion on the Santa list or a new wedge …?
Ooooh tough choice
I haven't said it before, but I should have, thank you.
My pleasure , really appreciate you taking the time to feedback
Let's freaking go 🏌️
@bonscottrocks1728 🙌 thank you for your support 👍🏻
Hi Danny. I've been trying to do this and my contact has improved, but my ball keeps moving more and more left as it flies, like your shot at the 8:30 point in this video. How to you stop it from moving left?
Be patient and make sure you do the hockey stick drill correctly. Now that your club face is square at the top of your backswing you need to stop flicking or coming over the top. That was your old swing fault you needed to try and square the clubface at impact. If you now have a square clubface and still flick or come over the top, you will most likely hit pull hooks. The hockey stick drill will help but it will take time. The idea is once you see the ball going left long enough you will naturally stop flicking or coming over the top. Don’t give up on the square clubface. Once you master this, golf becomes much easier.
Danny are you aware that Ben Hogan didn't take a divot, he was a picker, not a digger.
I have been working on this and as a result I think I have worked out for me that I am a bruiser.
Picking it seems to result in too many thinned shots. Digging results in too many short shots, but Bruising the grass seems to give me the widest scope to hit a great strike each time.
I love the idea of bruising the grass
@DanielMaude feel free to use the idea. I have never heard anyone use that terminology before.
You can apply it on a mat as well. It's audible+feel feedback on a mat and visual+feel on grass.
This sound of the hack motion is really annoying. Will try the hockey-drill though. As a routine I always check my clubface at the point of impact in my preswing. Works better for me than checking my wristsetting in the backswing.
@@Michieldering love the Hockey Drill
Another great lesson. Love that little wrist gadget you have.
I like anything that gives us real time feedback
I could never get this straight wrist to work, because I did not rotate my arm. The top of my left hand would point straight ahead, instead of somewhat up to the sky. If I tried to straighten my wrist from that position, you get in really weird positions. Only when I understood that my arm needed to rotate could I get my wrist straight and get in position.
Thanks for sharing
Would like to see you play against Rick and Pete🏌️
Maybe one day
But you didn’t explain what square at the top actually was - unless you had a heavenly chorus singing at you!
If you do the drill that I show where you set your arms informs of you. That’s basically it
Hack motion sounding like church.
@@cluman1 it does doesn’t it
Good info, but as one of the best 80yr old golfers in the world I can’t get much better. I left my putter in another car but shot 2 over with my 3 iron. So you can see am unbeatable for any other old guy
Hey Bob you left this message 3 times, who did you want to see this 😁
As soon as you mention Hack Motion I’m out of here!
Hi Tim, no problem, feedback has been great…sorry you missed it
@ Nothing personal Danny, love your stuff but HM is all over the place at the minute, can’t get away from it.
