Help! is a wonderful song - and a cry from a man inundated by the new life he's created - a self-imposed prison. I love it. But it's hardly the Beatles' most impressive work. Mr. Wakeman makes it sound like it was written by Frederic Chopin. This man is a gift to mankind. So was Chopin.
I´m pretty sure if there had been a reunion in 80-90th this song would had been on the table. Lennon made it swing and mentioned once that he would had liked to record Help properly again. Wakeman did his proper version.
There's magic in those hands..................
67 and Rick Wakeman has always been my favorite keyboard artist
July 2024
wakeman emerson and lord..my top 3....YES ..the best band ever assembled.
Yes sir!
Lord Vinheteiro?
Absolutely, even though I've never (to my knowledge) heard of the last one!
Tony banks too!
Fingers moving as effortlessly as the wind . I was fortunate enough to attend the Six Wives Of Henry VII concert at Hampton Court Palace , and the meet-and-greet prior to the concert . As he entered the room , we heard " Oh ... Hello ! " , as if he was surprised to see anyone there . The most humble guy you could ever hope to meet . And a modern-day Mozart .
This is the real Rick Wakeman. Just listen to his phrasing and dynamics.
The proof that even legends pay tributes to other gods
John is smiling down on this Rick. Great interpretation.
Ladies and gentlemen, Master Rick Wakeman!
It's like the piano is singing the words. Mesmerizing
I think it's a great Beatles song. Anybody asking for help is a hero in my book. The song was confessional - and touches into the universal heart of all of us who at one time or another had to admit we needed help- which isn't so easy for some souls souls like John in particular ~ who are survivors of deep pain.
Could listen to this man all day, every day. Such an inspiration. Juts love his music, so up lifting. Beautiful.
Fantastic Sir! You have been a musical inspiration to me since the 70's.
Me too. I learned the piano from Yes songs including Parts -🤷♀️- of excerpts from the 6 Wives of Henry the 8th. Also Yes’s lyrics… 💥 Never gets old with me and I’m 59 ♥️♥️♥️
Me too, ...and even above that.
Herrlich, das Stück einmal so zu hören. 😊
When I was younger so much younger than today, my band had Jon singing, now they bicker in every way. And now that Chris has died I'm not sure sure, which version of Yes is real, but they keep on playing anyways.
The version that Ricks in definitely .
I saw him live when I was still in high school, the King Arthur tour at our local college. He's a legend.
Rick is a Real Legend ive been a Fan since the early 1970's.
Simplesmente maravilhoso... que bom ter nascido nesta época!!!
Rick doesn’t need any body’s help in any way.
Love you Rick❤
I don't have words to describe this, and I fancy myself a wordsmith...brilliant beyond words, is what I choose...Thank You, Mr. Wakeman; I've always loved your work. This truly helped me in the midst of despair. No Earthly Connection? I can feel Karen Carpenter's anguish. Brilliant.
Can't get enough of this....been back a few times. I'm cured every time.
For most of it i have no words
I had had an absolutely horrible day - week - at work and in my life when I heard this. This was really cathartic.
Truly incredible...what a beautiful rendition of a great song
Help me if you can, I'm feeling down.Another Amazing Performance by Mr.Rick Wakeman. Help. 😊😎🙏👍❤️
I finally got to see Rick at Birmingham Town Hall last Saturday & what a wonderful evening it turned out to be. Rick was in top form, standing in front of the Giant Organ, with umpteen stories & beautiful renditions of selected pieces from the Piano Portraits album & more. I bought a programme which had a free CD attached to the cover & what a revelation that is now I have played it through, with tracks depicting his many genres through the years & I was touched by the exclusive version of "Children of Chernobyl".
Beautiful Rick. Eternally beautiful.
Thank you. 💫
Just discovered tihis! What a Wizard this man is!!!! But wowowowowwow!!! Unbelievable skill, and every note hits home with the emotion, and dynamics, and just moves my soul!!! Like you always have Rick. YES is why I went into pursuing a life of music. Yessongs was that pivot point in my life. Didn't end up making the music I really wanted to, but stil making a living with music. So i got #2. But I just discovered your channel! Forgive me but I should have been here years ago!!! I've seen just about every YES tour in about every configuration any of you guys have been in. Wakeman brings the magic, the feeling, the emotion,. And you're still amazing!!! Glad to have rediscovered an old friend. :)
This rendition is stunningly beautiful. I have the album & love every track, I have my seat booked at The Birmingham Town Hall on 24th. June 2017 & am really looking forward to a GREAT night out.

The best rock song and the best keyboardist in the world.
This is super good!
Thank you very much!
Legend
I have this on vinyl and cd and listen to it on Spotify all the time... but I keep on coming back to youtube to watch it. Rick closes his eyes, he's feeling it...love it
So good it breaks and mends my heart at the same time.
@MichaelKingsfordGray You need to sit down and have a long talk with the voices in your head.
This is the way how John Lennon had 'Help!' in his mind. He wanted it as a slow ballad, but the record company kind of forced The Beatles to make it faster and more commercial. Lennon would have been proud on Rick.
Deep Purple has a great version and even a promo video of it.
@@harmono8766 John Farnham did a fantastic version as well. Deep and heartfelt as it was meant to be.
Qué vaina más bonita!!!
Just... Beyond the words... I want to say something meaningful, but I can't find the right words. The feeling Rick brings to me is indescribable, it's so big and powerful. We are witnessing our era's one of the best composers.
"Ineffable"
Turgid
You really do need HELP!
GRANDE MAESTRO!
Simplesmente Brilhante.
Bellezza assoluta. Grazie al M° Wakeman per tutta questa magia!

Goosebumps here. Beautiful
I wondered if this would be a bit twee but I was surprised by the power, well done Rick
Thank you Mr. Wakeman. I have this on loop to keep me together as I'm typing, I'm headed back to the rooms. I saw death last night. Thank you so much, Mr. Wakeman for helping me through this. I think we share a date in 1985 as that was when I tried my second attempt in the rooms. I bought all of your works of the mid-70's period on vinyl in record shops, NYCity, Greenwich Village. I bought "Country Airs" too. I love the piece for your cat Kookie. I couldn't make it to the Ridgefield Playhouse, CT, USA, as I had hoped. I'm homeless. I was spitting distance from you at the AWBH show, Orange County Speedway, New York, open air. Mr. Anderson admonished a guy in the audience who was making noise during your solo. I would have punched his teeth down his throat had I been near him. Luckily, I was a good distance away. Thank you for enriching my life with your music. You can't know what you've done as I am a listener, a fan. I've listened on loop for 30 minutes and I'm "healed."
Quanta Bellezza. Grandissimo.
Simply wonderful! Thank you, Rick.
It's nearly impossible to listen to this song without hearing the words / lyrics in your head. But ... when he gets to the ... "won't you please help me .. help me .. " 0:52 .. and @ 2:02 ... it all changes. A "classical composers" touch takes command of the melody and elaborates ... much like Bach or Brahms would have .. { if they were still around} ... lol ...
Brilliant as usual 👍
Very Beautiful and Evocative
Somewhere, John Lennon is going....Why the fuck am i crying for no reason?
amazing
Why isn't this played on Classic FM???????
Really lovely Rick ☺
В 70 е годы он был моим вдохновителем как пришелец с другой планеты что бы сеять ростки чего то нового и прекрасного..он Гений
