Mr. Wakeman, you are the best.
👏 👏 👏 👏
What a great performance !
My son flew me from Alabama to see Rick at Lincoln Cathedral. What a night!
Rick wakmen excelente musico..gran pianista
Rick wakeman my hero on keyboards
I have loved Rick Wakeman since the first time I heard him with Yes back in the early 70's! Excellent!❣
Being that I started piano lessons when I was 5, I know how difficult and challenging keyboards can be!
me too 1973!
Saw the 'Close to the Edge' line-up live in 19 seventy whatever. Unforgettable, the concert I mean.
The only version of this song, besides the original, that i like ❤️❤️❤️
Aretha Franklin's version is great, too.
Richie Havens
Zoot
I adore Rick Wakeman.
From Russia with love.
I remember seeing Yes with Rick Wakeman, waaaay back in 73(?) at the San Diego Sports Arena. it was his last tour/performance with Yes. amazing show.
I have all albums of Rick Wakeman. Because I adore them.
From Russia with love. Michael.
Man, when you say “all”, you really mean more than 100 releases, including studio, compilations, live, etc ?
Congrats !!!
Saw Rick in his current Grumpy show last night in Brum and he played this on a synth - he was brilliant, a 2-hr+ solo show with so many songs (and jokes/stories)... what a special troubadour he is!
Rick Wakeman THE FINGERS. THE MASTER. FOREVER YES!!!🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹
In Italy we say "FORTE!!!". Bravo.
I saw him at Buxton Opera House a few years ago. Words cant express his talent, humility, Britishness, warmth. Not many like him.
I doubt Rick himself is the one running this account but if it is, thank you for these videos. You're an inspiration and a huge part of the music I grew up loving and am now passing on to my own children. Thank you!
Alex, this is an official Rick Wakeman channel (100%: check video at the top of the channel page) and I presume it is administered by someone appointed to do so by Rick.
I also grew up with his music and love it very much. Lately I have been practicing excerpts of King Arthur on the piano, something I hoped to do as a teenager.
Cat no one cares
We are here for his musicianship not his flawed morals.
@@ScootsMcPoot I'm actually here for his flawed morals ... not his music. 🤣
Who's the man who use to sing with him for years then the woman I can not find no were there names I know most of the others Lee pomeroy well know bassist Adam his son ect and the drummer that was with him for years was all so on gas tank
One of the greatest Rock Keyboard men of all time
he is just a genius!
Magical.
Thanks dear for your love and support all the this time🎻🎻🎻❤️❤️❤️❤️
I think that John Paul and Sergio would be very proud!❤
I own a copy of this concert and this man is so unique. Thanks Sir Wakeman for all the memories.
👍
Master Rick!!!!! Great man a fantastic musician!!!!!
Wow!
Beautiful
Thank you for everything Rick. God bless.
I've been a fan for over 50 years and he may not be the best, but he's got style like no one else. Fantastic musician.
is there such a thing as best? If there was Im sure he would be it...not only does he play he writes his own....
@@paulcorradini1662 I think "best" is highly subjective, but he is in the top few for sure.
possibly the most personable genius in this video x x
WOW... This guy is Great... 😲
Imagine what Keith Emerson's approach and style would have rendered with this piece. Two great keyboardists, uniquely different.
Ah, the endless argument among prog-heads when I was in high school: "Emerson or Wakeman?" The responses were about equal, with an occasional "Tony Banks!" (who would say he's a composer, not a keyboardist).
@@racookster Tony Banks...hahahahaha He's not even on the road, that leads to the ballpark, where Wakeman and Emerson (RIP) play. Absolutely no comparison. Banks isn't even close to being in the same league.....
Great work Rick wakeman I'll never remember I always remember I should say you know Dan and graffitis when you representing the Sun and Young band playing Henry the 8th and all the greats that you know you created Rick wakeman graffitis Pittsburgh PA
The greatest composer of my time, hands down.
Excellent articulation and technique
I think back on the first time I saw Wakeman (74) and the last time (19) Can't wait until the next time. I'll be there.
Hay Rick, the way your playing this piece reminds me of Genius when they started out. Thanks mate. Cheers.👍👍👍
Stunning.
Siempre un placer oír a este Maestro
thank you Sir Rick, I´been following you for the las t 50 (fifty ) years and never, ever, heard something that could dislike me
Espectacular, Rick forever...gracias por tu música y obra...👍👍
After all this years you are still shining superstar. Thank you for your beautiful timeless music.
Wonderfully filmed. Masterpiece version.
A modern day Mozart. Fabulous rendition of a classic song.
This man scored The Burning (1981). It is my introduction into this great composer. Perhaps others can suggest where to look next for his work if interested.
This brings me absolute joy every time I listen. The way how Rick has taken the layers of the song, separated them, embellished them with beauty, stretched time itself with some of them, altered their texture and so much more, then beautifully laid every piece all back together in what becomes a flowing journey of a piece of music.
Every time I listen it's like a daily advancement in my Musical knowledge 🤝👍🎼
Enjoy Beatles!! Rick is la GOD!!!!
Thanks Rick. Inspirational composer performer confluence of magic! Peace and thanks for being a mentor.
😮 Bravo, bravo, bravo, bravo, bravo, Profesor Rick Wakeman por su increíble arte, talento 👨🎓🎹
Espetacular o arranjo e interpretação 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Ah, remember the days when Rick and all the members of Yes wore capes when they performed live? And they almost blew out my eardrums the first time I saw them perform. 😂Now we're all getting old. Most of my Rock heroes have banker haircuts. At least Rick still has long hair. 😃 And he is still the finest when it comes to tickling those keys. Yep, Rick and Keith, the two finest. RIP Keith Emerson.
This is such an awesome version of this classic. Thanks Rick.
Incredible version
BRILLIANT! LOVE IT!
Nicely done. Hadn't really listened to this chap since the mid 70s. Like the idea that he uses 19th and 20th century texts and composers for inspiration re arranging.
We had a fantastic evening in Lincoln when this was recorded.
Amazing live. Wakeman is king
He really is amazing live!
I really enjoyed this, thank-you 🙂
Incidentally, I bought a copy of 'Principles of Orchestration' by Rimsky-Korsakov last year and it is an ambition of mine to work through it!
Genius
Wow! Just wow!
Mervellous....

@@rickwakemen1852 You dear Sir are on my short list of writers/composers ; Livgren,Emerson,Morse..Thne there is you, on an entirely different level uniquely yours alone. An amalgam as we all are;of our journey on this road we travel on. I read 'Wakeman', I click like.
If I ever wonder what a room full of planet rock listeners looks like, this is the true image......
So good!
Happy birthday!
"Variaciones a un tema de The Beatles". Maravillosa versión del Maestro Rick Wakeman.
You're a genius man.
Oh. My. God!!
Fantastic arrangement. Although I would like to know the opinion of the same by Mr. McCartney
