Nice work, started watching your videos because I want to get a bit more into spraying. I have watched a few papering ones, as after 40 years decorating, I wondered if I am stuck in my old fashioned ways of doing it. Glad to say, I'm still doing it that same way you do.
Great Job any kids who have been caught crayoning on the walls are gonna say "Phil showed us how to do it" 🤣 bet it took some nerve to get going on that, one slip and that's the weeks wages gone I think 👍
Nice! Bit of a stretch to call it papering tho lol! Use that spatula for all paperhanging...have done since I got hold of a muraspec one, back in 2000... Game changer! Great work mate 👍
Phil - Very nice - Quick question - Why - when hanging wallpaper - that when butted together - the pattern does not match? In your video you highlight the importance of "matching" the pattern / design at eye level - then when you zoomed up - there was a small pattern mis--alignment - which you overcame with coloured pencils - as per the manufacturere video - hand made product. I do understand that wet wallpaer will stretch -how do you get round "strtched wet wallpaper" and pattern matching? Any tips - please help :-)
Hi. The paper on this video I'd hand made a printer on. It's not a paper that stretches, so any miss print can come from the manufacturing. On a paper that you paste, it's down to soaking and stretching. That's when you match at eye level. But write down your soak times, so you know all papers are having the same soaking time. If it's 8 minutes after you pasted it.... Paste it then start hanging it just after 6mins. As the first part you pasted will be 8mins soaking in... Then by the time you've dropped it down... The bottom will have had 6mins too.
Great job Phil. I'd be bricking it if I had to hang that paper. Could you explain again why you had to tape the edge? What would've happened if you hadn't taped it
It was what the manufacturer recommended to do. I think it was to protect the edge of the paper that was on.. and if any paste did push out with the second length... That bit of paste would only go on the surface of the tape and not the surface of the paper. So you're not having to wipe the face with a damp sponge more than you need to. It does makes sense.
Hi Phil I feel that when using a seam roller on most papers it would be a good practice to never put the roller directly on to the paper ,but to cut a dry piece of paper off cut and roll over the seam with out making contact with the paper .As you can damage the seams and polish it so it shows up 👍😁
With this paper you wouldn't put a box wood roller against it just in case of damage to the delicate surface. With 'normal' papers I know what you mean about polished edges, to hat can be with over wiping with a damp sponge etc. The thing is, often the reason to seem roller and edge is to work at it to get it down and butt up against the other edge/length of paper. It's not done quite as aggressive as I've made it sound.. but the term 'working the edge/joint' is used when you need to move the edge where you need it and nipping it down so it doesn't spring up. Some papers can be real tricky.
Cracking job mate 👏 thanks for the tips. I did that feature wall last week. Wish I'd known it was B&Q paper they'd bought 🙄 sublime it's called £12 a roll. Like tissue paper. Absolute nightmare 😫 never again.
Lovely job Phil, it’s nice to work with some quality paper, do you think where the pattern didn’t match, is down to it moving slightly, when it’s being cut, at the manufacturer, ie off the press, 👍
Hi , done a feature wall today, made some pencil marks on the wall and now they are showing through on the white part of the paper, is it likely to disappear once the paper has dried out ?
I think Phil overstretched the paper causing the pattern to run out, bit amateurish if you ask me colouring in £1k wallcovering. TBH I wouldn't of paid you.
Thanks for watching all the video. And have you looked at the manufacturer information website video too? No.. guess not. LoL Where can I get a RollyEye emoji from?
Great job ! But that pattern not matching in two lengths 🤯looks like tiling on a roll ? Love your dedication to wooden steps is that so nobody nicks em
Beautiful Phil 👍 How you touch in with the watercolour crayons was really good. Call you Phill de vinci. Try the q1 pink sensitive one tape, mate even better then the purple. Great video

Tnx.. it's too chunky for neat cuts against coving, skirting and doorframes for me.
@@ProfessionalPainterDecorator yeah, I do have that blade when I need it for neat cutting, but I haven't used a papering brush in ages...

I knew it may not match as the manufacturer said you can 'fake' the pattern in where it doesn't match... I went in prepared lol

No.... I take it you didn't line it Garry?
@@ProfessionalPainterDecorator I didn’ no because it was a thick paper, never had trouble before , see in the morning 😬😬

I’d have loved to do that instead of the Laura Ashley feature I had🫣. Nice job Phil
