Good trick with the zip tie, but the brass washer goes on the shaft against the lip seal to keep pump pressure off the seal. Why would a solid plate with a gasket need a sealing washer that has nothing to keep it centered?
Très bonne vidéo, sur mes TMD41A, j'utilisais un collier de serrage pour la mise en place de l'aube, le collier en plastique est une bonne idée, plus simple à mettre en place. Merci pour le truc!
Yes of course. Just disconnect the water intake hose at transom shield just for safe, to prevent any siphon effect, since the water pump level is lower than the floating line.
Need to repair my water pump on my reinell 191 with the penta 4.3GL, it has a slow leak when running. Will changing out the gasket and changing the impeller be technically a refresh job? Doesn’t seem to have leak on the tubing. Will check again but would a fix kit be Mose cost effective than replacing the whole water pump?
Try replacing the gasket first. If the leak is from the front of the pump most likely the leak is from there. Remember that the impeller should be replaced once per year so while you are replacing the gasket replace also the impeller. If the leak is from behind it might be the seal. In that case remove the whole pump and have it overhauled.
It does not necessary have to be done on dry land. If the boat is in the water, disconnect the sea water suction hose at the transom shield to prevent any siphon and subsequent risk of water coming in.
Great video. I just changed my impeller without problems. Hard to reach on my Four Winns, Funship 234. Do you where I can buy the four screws holding the cover?
Thank you Humberto. The four screws holding the cover have Volvo Penta part number 841693. They can be purchased at any Volvo Penta dealer or on the web.
Mine is 305 but I assume that yes it should be located there also in 350. The blue fluid is antifreeze ethilene glicole from winterization process which is to be drained before starting the motor in the water because it is not good for the environment. Normally, while operating the motor, there is outside sea-lake water in the pump.
@@chinitrdjimenez6638 get a Seloc or Clymer manual. It is very useful if you have no experience on boats because it explains all you need to know. You can buy easily on the web. Strongly advised in my opinion.
Had a question, I purchased a used boat second time I took it out I had impeller failure. Overheating does this sound like a chance happening or should I run from this purchase?
If overheating was due to impeller failure and you replaced the impeller it should not happen again for that reason. But it may happen again for other reasons: rusty thermostat (very likely if boat has been sitting for years with winterization not properly done) and air suction from the drive (worn gasket at water inlet) are the most common.
Sorry but it has never occurred to me to get the pulley off so I have no video to show. The pulley is fixed by means of three bolts togheter with the sea water pump. May be this can help: ua-cam.com/video/qOSt6dEJyPQ/v-deo.html
Reminds me of my alone time with the amount of lube that’s involved! Great video really helpful!
😁😁😁😁😁😁😁
Great video! I really appreciate the time you took to make this!
I have Volvo Penta 230A and that’s exactly what I need to do.. Thanks for the video!! Very helpful 👍🏼👍🏼
VP recommends using only glycerin as a lube. You can get it at most grocery store.

Merci a vous. 😃
Can you show me a video of it running ? My pump wobbles around a little just want to check
Best to take impellers out over winter and let them stretch back out. Instead of jelly always used liquid dish soap.
Glycerin is what's actually recommended
Can you change the pump while the boat is in the water?

Anybody know what impeller to buy for a Volvo Penta 225e on a 1986 bayliner capri?
Will water come in if this is performed with the boat in the water??? Or must this be done on dry land. There is no seacock that I know of.

I have a Volvo penta 2350 I need to replace the impeller my question is is that the right place where is located at? And that blue fluid is coolant?

Capt. Steve ok ok I see well thanks man I really appreciate that you took the time to answer my question.. also does it has a radiator?
No it does not. It is a sea water cooling system. No heat exchanger.
Capt. Steve ok thanks I just bought this boat 3 weeks ago I really don't have experience on boats!

Do you know where I can get info on what direction an AQ170 water pump rotates?
AQ170 rotation is clockwise seen from crankshaft pulley. The same rotation as the one in the video
