by the way one thing i recommend when upgrading cpus is also upgrading ram, they are big counterparts in the pc and your ram is probably now bottlenecking your cpu (not certain but good chance)
Great video man. I have a pre build with a i7 9700 and 1660ti and have been having issues. You helped me with upgrading my GPU and RAM for just smoother performance without breaking the bank.
@@deeri__ I don’t play Fortnite. UPDATE: I got the 4060 and I have to say I do not regret the purchase games are running 40x smoother. Personally would recommend.
In a game like fortnite getting a really beefy gpu with a decent processor wont give you a big performance boost since the game is more cpu intensive (calculating where all the players are, all the builds placed, loading the map) its all on the cpu. So if you play e-sports titles like fortnite, rust, cs2 prioritize your cpu. Not saying cheap out on the gpu, get something that wont bottleneck your cpu, but dont prioritize it
Two things you need to do to accommodate the gpu, upgrade to 12 gen i5 or i7 intel processor or better and get a new motherboard compatible with all the parts. also i3, i5, i7 and i9 are basically the same performance what really matters is the generation so 9th gen i7 causing a major bottleneck.
It does bottleneck the 4060 ti, I have an rtx 3060 ti with an i5-11400f and I still have a bit of bottleneck and it's a 3060 ti, that 4060 ti gets like 20% bottleneck@@glizzycast2282
Honestly the gpu upgrade helps but with fortnite these days its all about a better cpu, I recommend upgrading to an 11th or 12th gen i5 or i7 because they dont really break the bank and they are MONSTROUS in terms of performance. I also use a 9th gen intel cpu and its rly not the move.
Bro I literally had an i5 and a 1660ti for years and recently upgraded to a i7-13700kf and a 4070ti, also got a new 360hz monitor, I was already better than all my friends, now its impossible to lose, its so good
One thing you wanna do is to check the rams mhz because if your rams are capable of running on 3200mhz i rather recommend you to make them run at that speed instead of 1500mhz.
Nice, im looking to upgrade to a 1060 6gb from a 2010 nvidia.. quadro 5000. (im poor plz no roast) Honestly you should upgrade your CPU as you have a bottleneck but if u have a socket that doesnt support over 9th gen than you should think about getting a new motherboard. its fine rn but when the graphics and game gets more demanding you should upgrade ur motherboard + cpu.
I hate that Fortnite is one of the only esports titles that skews EXTREMELY in nvidia's favor, because then AMD cards woulda been viable. I personally woulda gone AM5 with the 7500f.
Don't mind the people who are criticizing you for your cpu choice, they don't know where you got it from but they still choose to argue. And even if it was a bad deal, you should be happy with your new parts, i don't even have a propper computer yet that can run fortnite and I play on ps4.
Now that you have a faster graphics card you should try increasing the graphics. I know you probably play competitively, and that’s why your graphics are so low but the 4060ti can easily handle 144+ fps at max (without lumen) I found myself entering Fortnite more when it didn’t look like a potato.
Everyone hating on you for buying the 4060 don’t listen to them it’s very good 100+ fps on every game even cyberpunk and the i7 is a very good upgrade from your i5 so they just mad that you didn’t upgrade cpu with a better cpu with the same price but don’t listen to them it ended out being amazing and if you can upgrade to a AIO Cooler for your cpu bc Fortnite heats up the cpu a lot just a recommendation
Why are people complaining about the dude talking about cpus like i5/i7? It is mentioned in the video they got 9700k (old i5 because of that is at best 9600k which is less powerful) so you cant just slap a +10th gen there like some comments say?? But if you just bought the cpu, there is no real point in upgrading to 9700k unless you got it for very cheap and/or did not have ability to go for a whole new build otherwise (so getting a better cpu for already owned build is a lot more cheaper option). Also 4060 ti is a great card if you get it for reasonable price, esp the 16gb version.
Good video just one thing... at those resolutions it was probably the cpu upgrade that gave the frame bump...at lower resolutions games are more cpu intensive so that i5 was getting run ragged where as the extra cores and hyperthreading of the i7 really boosted frames....you should throw the 1660ti back in with the i7 and record a video just for testing purposes...keep up the great work🫡
The i7 12700kf is cheaper than the 9700k with like triple performance and futureproof, why buy that CPU new? Unless you don't know much about PC building but thats a very bad purchase since you'll have to buy ANOTHER one with mobo and ram when you upgrade your GPU again.
brah your setup is exactly like mine. I bought the nzxt starter pc plus as my first pc in 2019 for a thousand dollars and i still use it to this day. i also have the same mouse
Sadly Fortnite is a CPU game(on perf mode). You could've gone with a 3060 or 4060 and put the rest into the cpu to get way better fps. (Like 2 or 3 times more). I'd recommend going for a 5600x,5700x,5800x or 5800x3d if you want to get a cheap mainboard. If you are fine with buying ddr5 and getting a better mainboard i would go for a ryzen 5 7600x or 7700x. If you can spend more you should 100% go for a 7800x3d but it's really expensive. Your 4060 ti is being bottlenecked over 30% (depending on res and settings). Edit: I saw many people being toxic about your choice and i don't think they have a right to. Everyone makes a mistake sometimes.. Its gonna be fine(you are just gonna be loosing on some performance) if you are fine with that there is no reason to change anything.
@@ZinkyThePinky it was a massive upgrade like went from bsrely playing some games on lowest settings 60-100 fps to max settings 200 fps ish (varies depending on the game)

Ah sweet you upgraded to the same CPU that I have and I also have a 1660ti (both since 2019) plus the main game played is Fortnite so am expecting this video to deliver...am keeping my 144Hz monitors for now though...
i7-9700K + 4060 Ti? one recommendation would've been to get at least an i7-10700K or 11700K since those allow the GPU to perform at its best (if you wanna know why, it's because 9th gen CPUs from Intel still had PCIe Gen 3 before their 10th gen CPUs came out with Gen 4 support, and now we got the 12th, 13th and 14th gen CPUs with PCIe Gen 5 support for future GPU generations and the fastest Gen 5 NVMe SSDs available at the moment)
@@ZinkyThePinky this might be the 1millionth comment about this topic, but it's up to you when it comes to buying your parts for your PC depending on whatever you want your PC to handle (which in this case is Fortnite at very high framerates), i am just suggesting something that could've given you a couple more FPS for free

by the way one thing i recommend when upgrading cpus is also upgrading ram, they are big counterparts in the pc and your ram is probably now bottlenecking your cpu (not certain but good chance)

@@ZinkyThePinky excellent that will sure get you at least half an fps more also what’s the clock speed on the ram?
You might want to DDU the previous graphics card driver for better performance.
Great video man. I have a pre build with a i7 9700 and 1660ti and have been having issues. You helped me with upgrading my GPU and RAM for just smoother performance without breaking the bank.

love the vids! i have a question when you record your videos and edit them on fortnite what software do you use??
Appreciate it bro 🩷 I use OBS to stream then I download the vod and use adobe premiere pro to edit!
Not saying cheap out on the gpu, get something that wont bottleneck your cpu, but dont prioritize it
Hey guys can we just be happy that this guy upgraded his computer?
Two things you need to do to accommodate the gpu, upgrade to 12 gen i5 or i7 intel processor or better and get a new motherboard compatible with all the parts. also i3, i5, i7 and i9 are basically the same performance what really matters is the generation so 9th gen i7 causing a major bottleneck.
Yup I’m working on getting a new one rn
a 9th gen intel i7 is NOT bottlenecking with an 4060 ti XD
WHAT I SAID!@@glizzycast2282
it is acctually the cpu is not that good and you can get a i5 13gen for the same price and its so much better@@glizzycast2282
It does bottleneck the 4060 ti, I have an rtx 3060 ti with an i5-11400f and I still have a bit of bottleneck and it's a 3060 ti, that 4060 ti gets like 20% bottleneck@@glizzycast2282
9th gen with a 4060 is very ambitious but good you’ve retuned it now 😭

Honestly the gpu upgrade helps but with fortnite these days its all about a better cpu, I recommend upgrading to an 11th or 12th gen i5 or i7 because they dont really break the bank and they are MONSTROUS in terms of performance. I also use a 9th gen intel cpu and its rly not the move.
Good thing I play other games 😉 and I got a 7800x3d
@@ZinkyThePinky finally a good gpu
anyways the 1660s graphics card still works perfectly.

Happy for you w upgrade
Hey zinky,I recommend u upgrade to a 240 hrtz monitor to max out ur performance
Already did! It’s amazing 🤝
the thing I hate about these videos is youtube is usually capped at 60 fps so it’s really hard to tell the difference
i have a 1660 rn might try to upgrade to a 4090 , that's the best out rn right ? go u feel about the 1500 u spent to make fn run like 2% better ?
wait for 50 series, it will release this october. the 5090 will have around 60-70% more performance than the 4090.
As a tech nerd you really pissed me off with your cpu 😂😂😂

Don't mind the people who are criticizing you for your cpu choice, they don't know where you got it from but they still choose to argue. And even if it was a bad deal, you should be happy with your new parts, i don't even have a propper computer yet that can run fortnite and I play on ps4.
He wasted his money and people who are criticising are doing the right thing because he didn’t do his research properly.
Now that you have a faster graphics card you should try increasing the graphics.
I know you probably play competitively, and that’s why your graphics are so low but the 4060ti can easily handle 144+ fps at max (without lumen)
I found myself entering Fortnite more when it didn’t look like a potato.
I just upgraded from 1050 ti to a 4070. Only took me like 10 years.
FORTNITE IS A CPU BASED GAME!!!!! I’ve got clients that have the GTX 1660 Super paired with a Ryzen 9 5900x and got 1200 fps with my optimization

Doing research on parts is always a great thing to do!
bro has guts posting "4060ti" on youtube 💀
how does bro only have 11k this guy makes amazing content
Good video just one thing... at those resolutions it was probably the cpu upgrade that gave the frame bump...at lower resolutions games are more cpu intensive so that i5 was getting run ragged where as the extra cores and hyperthreading of the i7 really boosted frames....you should throw the 1660ti back in with the i7 and record a video just for testing purposes...keep up the great work🫡
you can still see 1000 fps with 144hz monitor, even if you are on ps5 or xbox series x and have a 60 hz monitor, it feels like 120.
Bro the 3060 ti was literally the same gpu, cheaper but without the dlss 3
Which is useless for competitive gaming
What CPU are you using?
an i7 9700k in 2024 is crazy
I could be wrong here but the i5 was the reason the gtx 1660 was strugling
4060TI is great GPU , more fps with lowest power consumption on 40series , i got 700-800 fps on performance mode
Its gonna be fine(you are just gonna be loosing on some performance) if you are fine with that there is no reason to change anything.

what I would change in this build:
1) I would take the i5 13600kf over any other
2) I would get 32 gigs ddr5 ram with a b660 mobo

its cool to see ppl who have simillar setups to mine (setup in bio)

i7-9700K + 4060 Ti?
one recommendation would've been to get at least an i7-10700K or 11700K since those allow the GPU to perform at its best
(if you wanna know why, it's because 9th gen CPUs from Intel still had PCIe Gen 3 before their 10th gen CPUs came out with Gen 4 support, and now we got the 12th, 13th and 14th gen CPUs with PCIe Gen 5 support for future GPU generations and the fastest Gen 5 NVMe SSDs available at the moment)
