A friend of mine is into 3d rendering and he was looking for an upgrade. He had an AMD Ryzen 5 3600 and an RX 560. he was thinking about getting a ryzen 7 and whatever was available for a gpu. I simply told him to get the 4060 ti 16GB. Couldn't be happier. I don't know why the internet hates this card you get the same performance with near HALF the power consumption. Unless someone else pays for your bills, get a life and stop bitching out over this card. it's not like you need to game at 4k ultra at 300 fps to be good in a game.

Hi, I'm planning a pc for 3d, editing, vfx etc only art/content creation, no gaming at all. To get 16gb vram in higher end card i need to spend almost double the price of 4060ti 16gb. I want to buy 4060ti 16gb for it's vram to use in 3d rendering and texturing. Does it use the entire 16 gb ram during complex renders or 128 bit bus limits it?

Hello @AcidBubba. Surprised to get your reply this morning and thought I would give an update. I have now used the 4060 ti 16gb for eight months and am completely happy with this gpu. Zero problems, plays all my games well and no crashes. I believe this is "A Question of Balance." I have an 11th gen Intel I5 processor, Z series MSI motherboard, 1080 24" fast monitor, 32 gb 3200 ram and NO overclocking! Turns out the 11th gen processor is wonderful, best cpu I have ever had with no problems. So, I am an older game player, playing games that are at least one year old (to get decent discount pricing), and still playing games like Flight Simulator, Mass Effect Legendary, and Fallout 4. I do have some newer games and they play fine. I think there are many people out there that have read the specs on the 4060 ti (especially the 16gb) and decided yes, 128-bit bus vs.192-bit bus is a compromise, but one that works vs. price (and realistic performance), for my particular system. Again, for me it's "A Question of Balance."
Happy Gaming and thanks for saving the world, along with me, in games like Skyrim, Mass Effect and Fallout!

But you covered all the stuff I really needed to know about the card, and this video was a major part of my decision to buy one. I am very happy with the 4060 Ti 16 GB I bought last week!

I bought an Asus Dual RTX 4060 Ti 16GB around Black Friday for $405 USD, and I'm super happy with it.
Upgraded from an RTX 3060, which has since been repurposed into a secondary build I'd been scrapping together for a work and media server PC.
This 4060 TI consistently impresses. It's delivered about a 30-40% performance increase for me, depending on the game, all while drawing *less* power than the 3060 did.
It's launch price of $500 was too high IMO, but at $400 I think it's an easy GPU to recommend. I'd avoid the 8GB variant though unless it drops below $350. This GPU wants more than just 8GB of VRAM to really stretch its legs.

Agreed, I'd absolutely recommend it for that use.
I do want to mention however that I recently upgraded to a 4K OLED and am surprised how big of a problem it turned out to be for my performance.
I figured if I ran games using DLSS Performance setting, which renders at 1080p internally then upscales to 4K, that I'd get 1080p-like performance. This is not the case, unfortunately.
It seems the 128-bit bus really meets it's bandwidth limitations at that point, and I'm getting around 40% less FPS than I would playing at native res on a 1080p monitor - which I also tested.
Kind of a bummer, but yeah, 1440p monitors and below are definitely a good match for this GPU.

4060 Ti 16GB is a great entry level graphics card, the problem is that NVIDIA decided they'd bump entry price up to 500 USD, which is way too much. Just like this review said, if it was a 400 dollar MSRP I don't think anyone would have even said anything. You get 16GB to handle high quality textures, the latest NVENC/NVDEC which support AV1 finally, and DLSS/AI on its tensor cores. This is a card that can do ray tracing at playable framerates on 1440, and that's previously been limited to 800 and up elite/niche cards. Since AMD can't really deliver on the ray-tracing or DLSS, there really isn't much competition for NVIDIA, and they know it. Sure, if you're willing to sacrifice those you can get a better value with AMD today.

I am looking for a Nvidia card with as much vram i can get in a reasonable price. We focus so much on the aspect of gaming, we forget that GPU are also used in the world of 3d rendering, Video rendering and running AI models locally. AMD and Intel GPUs dont do well in Blender and Especially in running and training AI models. In my budget range rtx 3060 is the only GPU with 12GB vram. I need more vram and only rtx4060 TI 16 GB offers that. If AMD could have done the AI jobs like a Nvdia card can do, i would have no problem picking up a AMD gpu. No offense but NVDIA cards with more vram will charge more money in the future as long AI is there and no other cards come to the rescue.

Your casual and relaxed approach has more than convinced me and judging by most of the replies here, to go out and buy one for my aging PCIe 3.0 dinosaur motherboard and retire my 2070s.
Keep this approach and humble attitude. Subbed!
    Thanks for sharing!

I have an NVIDIA RTX 4060 TI with 16GB of VRAM, 32GB of RAM, and an AMD Ryzen 7 5700X processor. I have to tell you, I have almost all modern games and I don't experience any latency issues. And my motto is: Your money is for you to buy, mine is for me to buy, your GPU is for you to play, whereas mine is for me to play. My budget is not yours, which is why I have a 4060 TI with 16GB. Additionally, I seek power efficiency because we have two gaming PCs at home and I'm the one who pays the electricity bill. I chose this GPU because I like it, and I also like the MSI brand. I bought it new, and as the Dominican gamer saying goes: He who dies for his GPU, death tastes like glory.

I had a lot of issues with the A770 16gb limited edition, blue screen reboots and just freezing up here and there. So I decided to just build out a new system and used the 4060 ti, which I think performs really well and you don't have the VRAM issues like the 8gb version. I re-built the old system with a new killer case using the A770 and sold it cheap to my friends son, so he would have a better system than he was using that had a GTX 1660 ti. The Intel Arc A770 was crashing with a GPU Error when he was playing Valorant as well as having lag and frame stutters. I split the cost with him and we took out the A770 and put in a Gigabyte 4060 ti 16gb OC GDDR6 card and the system is working great, where he is very happy now. I am trying to sell the Arc A770 and not finding any buyers.

@@dexsama8890 I'm very much well aware of that, but most reviews I've seen about it just completely disregard any positives about the card simply because of how overpriced it is. For example, the power consumption, I live in the UK, where electricity is priced like its some kind of precious metal, so the super low power consumption of this card for how well it performs is a massive selling point, for me at least. But most of these reviews don't even mention the power consumption. Then there's also the VRAM amount, which is 16GB and excellent, albeit hugely marked up, but still absolutely worth it for the extra performance and overall stability.
To be honest, if I wasn't confined to the constraints of the extremely high electricity cost in my country, I would've definitely gotten an AMD card, because as much as I love this card, I wouldn't consider it mind blowing by any means.

@@misterai5158 Ever heard of undervolting? I'm running my 3070 max 100W... Only lost ~15% performance on full load only, still faster than 4060 ti, definitely for VRAM intensive applications, such as ML and even mining would net way higher results than your bandwidth limited card. No professional would ever buy this card, Nvidia knows this 100%, that's why the Quadros have very high bandwidth limits. There is a professor developing ML apps active on yt who shows you in detail the limitations of cards such as 4060... where even older cards are much faster. The 4060 is an OK card at the wrong price, i.e. there are no bad nvidia cards, just badly priced ones. The production cost is nowhere near $500, the die size and gimped specs (have you ever looked at the pcb of 4060 ti??) all concludes this is a 50 series card priced at 70 series card... And AMD cards undervolt really well too and is even easier to do, 6800 can run sub 100W easily. That's why people in the know bash the 4060, insane pricing for what you actually get in return. Arguments such as power consumption, etc. are mootpoints, while performance is worse than 3070 is regression, only progression for Nvidia and regression for the industry as a whole, this can't be talked out with valid arguments. This shit since 2017 has set the entire industry back, so many wasted years and people like me will never forget that. I won't forgot all the people who complained and quit gaming because of all the shit that happened, why would you as a consumer be OK to get the bare minimum at premium prices... I purchases mine brand new for €350 for a premium model, no regrets. Too bad the 6800 was nowhere to be bought new, not even today where I'm from, because that would be my main pick for gaming only.

I bought the 16GB 4060 Ti for the same price as the 8GB last Black Friday and in this case it was a great choice, it's obvious that the memory increase helps a lot even with a 128-bit card, there are fewer spikes and the framerate is much better than in the 16GB version. I'm currently on a 1080p monitor and I'm thinking of changing monitors and resolution and although this GPU is not as recommended for 1440p as the 4070 and up, maybe it's really worth going for 1440p, this video showed it well and makes it evident how a great experience looks with DLSS enabled in addition to the image being sharper and more beautiful than native 1080p. Aside from all the nonsense being put out here over the perceived inadequacies of the RTX 4060 Ti 16GB, take into consideration the finite number of PCIe lanes supported by modern CPUs. Let's take the Intel Core i7-14700 as an example. With that CPU, you get a maximum of 20 PCIe lanes to work with.
One of the points mentioned by a lot of gamers hating on this particular RTX 4060 variant, its utilization of only 8 PCIe lanes as opposed to the standard 16 lanes, is really a significant positive in the context of non-gaming applications like machine learning tasks, video processing and 3d rendering that thrive on VRAM because you can install more internal GPUs than otherwise without hitting your CPU's PCIe lane limit. In this case, it means you can comfortably double-up for a massive increase in VRAM to 32gb alongside a massive increase in overall graphics processing power for cheap (by comparison to the significantly higher cost of a single RTX 4090). For this CPU, that still leaves x4 PCIe lanes remaining for a nice m.2 for the OS.
By contrast, you will only be able to utilize a single RTX 4090 to its fullest potential due to it utilizing 16 of the 20 available PCIe lanes the CPU supports (i.e. the first GPU would starve the second GPU of PCIe bandwidth, thereby eliminating any tangible performance gains that would otherwise have been had). In the grand scheme and although you do get higher overall clock speeds and double the Cuda cores with a single RTX 4090, you lose 8gb of VRAM capacity that the dual RTX 4060 configuration offers over the single RTX 4090. If your task relies heavily on VRAM, like training AI on large datasets that consume massive amounts of VRAM, that extra 8gb is going to look pretty enticing, especially when the dual RTX 4060 configuration costs about half what the single RTX 4090 does (current prices).
This GPU isn't for gaming purposes even though it will totally hold its own if used for gaming. Just don't expect hardcore gaming performance out of a single GPU that's geared more toward two or more of itself operating in parallel to meet the demands of professional workflows.
This card takes a lot of crap for merely existing but beyond all the noise from being misunderstood, it's perfectly suited for what it can do and, in that context, the price-to-performance ratio is very reasonable. It's refreshing to see that at least one youtube is willing to see the value in difference and appreciate that not all things have to be explicitly for gaming.

I went through 10 other big name tech reviewers before finding a video that is simply about the performance of the 4060 TI. Everybody else was too busy shitting on the card for its price and not talking about what it's capable of. I don't care what other card you would prefer or what other card you think is worth the value. For my budget this is the card I picked and I just wanted the specs of it not everyone's opinion on ASUS and their pricing. Thank you for giving me that.

That 128-bit memory bus width is a bottleneck on it's own at 1440p.
Will have to enable DLSS quality that will then render the game at 1080p and might as well use up all these Vram by squeezing in frame gen if it's available and don't mind using it.

    • @rohanchooramun7288
      @rohanchooramun7288 Рік тому

@HyperionZero What are you talking about? Nvidia literally locked this card for 1080p only with that 128 bit bus and will be bottlenecked if you ever wish in playing at 1440p native.
Hardware unboxed has a video that proves that, comparing Arc A750, Rx7600 an Rtx 4060. Showing how intel closes the gap if not betting the others at 1440p.
Now just beacuse some games get high fps at native 1440p with the Rtx 4060, that doesn't mean its not being bottlenecked. In fact it could have got more fps if it wasn't being bottlenecked.
In short it has nothing to do with games if the hardware doesn't have more memory bus width to able to use higher resolution.

    • @rohanchooramun7288
      @rohanchooramun7288 Рік тому +1

@HyperionZero Who told you that you can't run games at 60fps? Did you even read what I said?
I do own gpus for your information.
Watch Hardware Unboxed videos first and educate yourself first before talking.
I'm not talking about vram capability...memory capability and memory bandwidth/speed are two different things.
And at 1440p with 128 bit memory bus width is a bottlenecked....there are tons of evidence and video out there explaining this.
This type of bottlenecked doesn't mean you can't play games or doesn't mean you have stutterring issues. If it had more bandwidth you would get more fps out of the gpu at 1440p (1080p should not have any problem). Even at 1440p lowest settings it losses more fps than it should....simple because 128bit is not enough for 1440p resolution.
Basically it's losing more fps than it should the higher the resolution.
