    X, this is rather just a general message. Just wanted to thank you for what you do. I've hobbied cards my whole. I'm bipolar depressive and my brain don't always work the way it should haha. Found your page about a month ago and you have given me a new focus and bag of tricks to fidget with to keep my head focused. And given me so many new ideas and approaches to things I was determined to master but was falling short. Thank you again for all you do.

    Great to see this one. It's in one of the Inner Secrets books, and is an improvement Vernon had for the One Handed Erdnase Shift (so you're not in that weird position).
    I forget who it was, maybe Steve Dobson, but the way Steve (or whoever it was) talked about it... it could have been a potential solution to something Vernon said about how the Shift should be completed AS the hands come together.
    Probably just a story. Academically, it could be like how a one handed palm gives you more advantage to use the other hand for misdirection. However, it is visible as all hell.
    Carney uses the original Erdnase in his version of Walton's Smiling Mule in that old video of him at the Magic Castle. Forget the name.
    Looks awesome dude!

    Wow, that's sick bro. I was thinking that since it's so hard to do in slow motion while explaining the technique, it would be really helpful to film it performed at regular speed, but then play it back in super slo-mo for the tutorial while you talk about the mechanics that are happening. Then you won't have to deal with the cards sliding around while you are explaining each little move.
    This is actually a good idea for a lot of the tutorials you guys do...

    I use this straight after an Erdnase Shift to pass the packet over the top so I can bring the original top packet back to the top. It's smooth (after a ton and ton and ton of practice) and just looks like an Erdnase Shift into square up. I highly recommend putting the time in to link the two. Not only does if feel cool and look cool, this shift here can be easily hidden as you bring your hand in to square up the deck. I would also recommend not putting your little finger along the bottom edge of the deck. Try and get your little finger as far under the deck as you can and you will have much better, smoother control and speed.

    I had to pause the video around 0:30. I've seen this move done by you casually in some video already, no longer remember which one. It looked easy, but when I started trying to do it myself just after watching you do it on repeat, I realized it only looked simple. It's so much more interesting than your typical Charlier Cut used by most as a move in passing. I progressed a bit since I started attempting this move, but I'm glad I'll finally see it from close-up with your tutoring, because it should allow me to improve the handling a lot. Thanks, Xavior! Now I can resume the playback. :)
    Edit after watching: I don't think there is a need to use it as a pass. It's just a great move in passing, or a fidget move, if you prefer. It simply looks good and when done well, like in your case, it even has its elegance.

    Been messing with this for a day now. An idea is to establish the flesh break when the packets are put back together. Would eliminate the transition between the pinkey break and the flesh break. And I'm finding the smaller the flesh break the faster the transition. And the actual movement of the packets appears less.

    X, sorry to keep commenting lol. But this is the latest video and the only way I know to get ahold of ya. You've inspired me to think outside the box. Been working on a control lately I wanna run by you. I've searched everywhere and don't see anything similar. Is a very bold and angly control but haven't been caught by the lamen. And looks very very clean in my opinion. Is there anywhere I could send my presentation to, so you could give me an expert opinion and functionality of it?

    Im curious, how is the charlier used as a pass?

    • @WhiteHawkmma
      @WhiteHawkmma 6 років тому +1

      Jay Quek I use it as a pass when I hold the deck in my left hand, and bring my right hand over to grab the deck from above, and as my hand is over top of it I do the shift. It's easier to use it that way, but without being pretty decent at the Charlier people might notice the deck drop a little bit before you grab it. The other option is as he said in the video about the pass he just taught: use a little misdirection and you should be good.

    • @lindseyharvey7285
      @lindseyharvey7285 6 років тому +2

      Original playa from malaysia, you can use the charlier pass in instances where you want to show a spectator to your right one card, and make it appear to show the same card to the spectator to your left, but doing the charlier in the motion so spectator 2 sees a different card. However you want to use that idea. Hamfam.

      I like charlier, but think it's more obvious from a spectators view (although admittedly I can do it a lot faster). Gonna give this a go for a couple of weeks see if I can speed it up

    • @kob3178
      @kob3178 4 роки тому

      The charlier cut has a larger action. It's best used in gambling cheats as you grab a sip of beer or chucking in chips. The charlier is/was sometimes used and covered by whipping the arm (most likely whipping cigarette ash) but it is ALOT more obvious and in a high stake game where they are going to be cheating it won't work.
      The shift he is teaching now can easily be covered and has reasoning.
      Back 30-50 years ago this was one of the big things that determined the amateur cheats from the professional cheats.
      Although I usually use it as a showoffy' trick or just a mess around thing.
