I love how creative you get with these moves. I'd never think to manufacture a favorable angle for a palm, I would just try a different palm, or delay it until I could justify swinging to the correct angle.

    Dear XS,
First and foremost , a big saluteto you sir!
I never tried anything one handed because i lack the stability , i drop cards and i develop a pain when i bendover to pick the cards;the last part is a misdirection to play the lazy card😋.
Let me share my experience on how I learned the Bottom Palm from your video. It was a cold , rainy night when my phone announced me that Xavior Spade has put a new video on Bottom Plam. I have planned to learn the PALM (Classic) in 2022 ,by the time my fingures grows bigger. I chucked the video because first its a palm and second its a bottom palm with one hand ( very bad in handling cards with one hand).
But soon, i was convinced to take a peak behind the curtain and see what Mr Spade had to offer. I admit , i felt very bad about myself at the end of the video because i cannot do such a beautiful sleight just because of my phobia of handling cards onehanded. I decided to break that chain and tried doing the bottom palm and ended up gettting a pain in my back from picking up the cards.
To quote from Xavior Rise " If you get a pain ,Stop!!" and i stopped. The next day , i did the bottom palm with my right hand holding the deck for support and my left hand palming the bottom card. To my surprise i succeded. I gained the one thing that no man can ever buy ; HOPE. i devoted the entire morning devouring the video piece by piece , taking notes and learning my way to do the bottom palm. For someone who knows just the Charlier cut when it comes to one handed flourishes or sleights and someone who never knew anything about palm, this video by Xavior Spade is an eye opener. For now, I am proud to say that i can palm a card from the bottom with one hand without dropping the cards. ALL THANKS TO Mr. SPADE and i strongly recommend palm enthusiast to learn from this video for every bit of advice from Mr.Spade works 100 %.

Always loved this move. Forget who said it (probably Vernon, of course), but the advantage of any one handed move is so you can use the other hand to misdirect.
I think adding movement to the palming hand covered it. Like that finger point. I would drop it slightly down (not as far as Close did when he'd use the Jennings one handed). So many peeps trying to do shit with frozen hands.
That pinky and ring finger stretch was a big thing for me to clean up my DPS. One subtle tip... instead of that pinky coming around the corner to complete the palm, had the ring finger squeeze the corner TO the pinky. Less flutter if ppls pinkys go haywire.
Forgot Earicks addition of flipping the deck. Just tried a variation where you do the flip but with the intention of putting the deck on the table in a riffle shuffle position and slide the deck to them that feels good. The deck has an extra revolution but it's still natural looking.
    Always good stuff, my brotha.

One tip that could really really help anyone with this move is to first try with just half the deck and try palming 3-4 cards . After that , try working your way up to a full deck. Thanks for the tutorial ! I was struggling with this move while I was reading the book , but I’ve finally got it down

I came up with a really nice bar bet you can do with this: Let them select a card and control it secound from the bottom. Take the bottom two cards as a double and say to the spectature: " I am 100 procent sure i got your card, in fact i am willing to bet money on it". When you look in your right pocket for changeas a wager , flash the index of the bottom card of your doube in your hand. Then do the one handed bottom palm , palm the card and drop it in your left pocket while picking up some change you had prepared there. Finally ask them if the are willing to bet against you and you have a pretty nice effect. I got great results, if you want to try it out its fun to do.

One thing that you sometimes mention, but doesn't fully work that way, is that you can train your pinky to move independently. Stretching is one thing, you can work on that. But the problem with the ring finger/pinky connection is neurological. The pinky nerves sometimes operate the ring finger as well. A stupid wiring issue, based on genetics. I have a mix myself. Right hand pinky is independent, left hand is connected.
Tried to train it, which might still be possible if you get all neuron stuff to work along, but never got there in like 30 years.
Would have been awesome though, for magic and guitar playing aaahhhrrrrrrr! Sorry, mild outburst.
Still gonna work on this one though. Thanks for the tutorial!

No problem, I hope that this info helps other people so they will not blame themselves for not being able to do this, no matter how much they practice. In my case both of my hands have this issue, which makes me sad as I have been looking for single handed bottom palm. :(

    • @planze2951
      @planze2951 6 років тому

To shed some light on why this is happening in the first place, it may be helpful to understand the innervation of the muscles on these fingers.
There are two nerves that innervate the little finger, both branches of the superficial ulnar nerve. One of them is exclusive to the little finger, but the other (the common palmar digital nerve) actually branches again and innervates both sides of the gap between your little finger and ring finger. This explains why contracting your little finger muscles causes some (but not complete) contraction of your ring finger.
These connections can be modified and trained with practice, like many other movements we can improve with practice.

It's basically the DPS-move from the bottom?
I like your style of repeating the move. Some fall in the trap of just repeating themselves, and that doesn't give any more information. You give angles and sometimes tangents that keeps it fresh and offers some of the nuances.
