- In this video we remove the factory downpipe on a 2020 BMW X5 40I to replace with an aftermarket downpipe followed by flashing the ECU to get some more power and fun noises out of the car. This is the b58 inline 6 cylinder.

Great Video! I just had my VSF downpipe installed on my 2019 X7 with HPS Cold Air intake and resonator delete. No tune yet, so check that the ENG light popped on. Until I'm ready for the tune, and exhaust system. I got the O2 Sensor spacer on order. I do recommend ordering the gasket mines wasn't saveable. It was pretty cheap.
Great and clear Video! We need more of the for the G05 platform. Just a question about ECU bench unlock for B58 Gen2; With MG Flasher, is this not needed? I'm more used to the MHD tune, as I have in on my G30 B58 Gen1, which was a pretty smooth process, but is not the case with the X5... thanks in advance for your help!
Yes, bench unlock is needed. You can mail me your ECU if needed.
MHD makes a DME unlocking tool that allows you to do it yourself at home without removing the DME.
Love sound but Will this effect my warranty 😅! Also Is this safe for engine or consumes engine life? One more thing if i had m sport exhaust not m performance and made valve all way opened can i get a different good sound ?
It could cause a check engine light and possibly void warranty if taken to a dealer. No it does not harm the engine. And yes you can still get a very good sound even without sporty exhaust

If you had to guess power wise what’s it making? How was the driving experience compared to stock? I need thissss
It's a huge improvement, I think it's a gain around 100hp
Great work on the X5 there, the tuned is required to override any emission warning lights.
I have an 2017 X5 xDrive35i M sport body with MPE, MPPK and charge pipe. Next is cold air intake and last will be a high flow cat and i dont want strong smells and insanely loud overrunning.
I have decat VRSF downpipe on mine. No smell.

Did you have to do the FEMTO unlock to flash it?
Nope, MG Flasher unlocked this one for use. I read the file on the bench and sent it to them.
Do all B58 engines use the same downpipe?
I don't believe so, x5, 3 series, and supra are different.

What exhaust is on it? Stock? MSport? Aftermarket?
Cat back is stock, non-m performance. The downpipe is a VSRF.
@@bradtourt seemed pretty loud in the video. You can't hear the turbo spool though, correct? I'm guessing the factory resonator pulls that out.
I'm trying to figure out if a $3,500+ exhaust is actually worth it on the G05. Doesn't seem like it based on this.
Any CEL with that VSRF downpipe?
