    Life at 122 °F - Surviving in the Hottest Places on Earth: • Life at 122 °F: Surviv...
    50 Liters Life is a documentary telling the story of the worst drought ever to occur in South Africa between 2015 and 2018. Because of irregular rainfalls, the Government was forced to ask citizens to reduce drastically water consumption down to just 50 liters per person, per day in order to conserve their most precious resource. Whilst strategies carried out by the most ingenious citizens in order to save water have led to good results, on the other side of the conversation, the future of agriculture and the effects this had on the poorest fringe of the population is still unknown, giving rise to disputes around the city.
    The target of 50 liters per day can be easily spent! A few examples of our daily use that are hard to imagine include:
    1 toilet flush = 9 liters
    1 shower = an average of 7.5 liters per minute, depending on the shower.
    1 dishwasher cycle = 9 liters
    Laundry = 10 liters
    Drinking water = 3 liters per person
    Cooking = 2 liters
    However, as the rules were enforced, citizens got used to changing their lifestyles and were wasting less water. What the city of Cape Town did to deal with the drought has never been attempted before in the world. This documentary explores the ways it was managed, and the difficulties the residents had in collecting their water. Work and school schedules had to allow for the collection per person - and doing so without a car was a challenge many citizens had to solve themselves. The entire situation provides a lesson that other countries can learn from South Africa, whether or not they are at risk of running out of a water. This could be a model of sustainably regardless of its need.
    So, is it possible to live a 50 litre life?

    Having been born in a tropical region where rainfall is abundant, it's easy to take this natural resource for granted. We don’t often pause to recognize the immense value of something that is so readily available to us. I feel a deep sense of guilt when I think about the people in other parts of the world who face daily challenges just to secure enough water for their basic needs. They endure so much hardship to access a resource that we rarely think twice about. Even now, as I watch the rain pouring down outside, I’m struck by the stark contrast between our experiences. It’s heartbreaking to realize that while some of us live with an abundance of water, others must struggle and suffer without it. The feeling of helplessness is overwhelming, knowing that I have so much yet am unable to do anything significant to alleviate their suffering. This disparity weighs heavily on my conscience, and I ask for forgiveness for the times I’ve been indifferent to their plight. I’m committed to finding ways, however small, to contribute to solutions that address this global issue.

      And recognising this, knowing they have no water, people continue to overpopulate where they cannot survive. Seems rather bizarre and self inflicted

    The population of Cape Town metro area have more than doubled in the last 30 years.
    This means that the consumption for drinking, cooking, hygiene, washing, industry etc have all gone up.
    Water is not infinite.
    There is a water-limit to how many people can live at any given region.

    Their government can get them fresh water, especially bc they’re next to an ocean. They just need to run their country properly. So much crime, etc.

    World is only 6000 yrs old. John 3:16 Context
    13And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven. 14And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: 15That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. 16For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
