@@fibby-enymore6601 - Reasons for this level of poverty are complex, but it has little to do with religion.
Legacy of colonialism, lack of capital, corruption, aftermath of several civil wars, lack of economic development, etc.
Compare Chad with other non-Muslim countries: Laos, Vietnam, Philippines, Bolivia, Peru, Mongolia - even the Siberian region of eastern Russia and northern Canada, you will find similar challenges as well.
This road was probably a military road built by the French during the colonial era, but it probably wasn't much better off then than it is now. The national needs have changed, but the infrastructure has not.

The modern Toyota are far not as good as the older ones. He won't get far with a new model. Full of electronic shit no one's able to repair in remote areas. 80's an 90's Toyota are indestructable. I would like to express my respect and gratitude to the production team who made an in-depth video of the difficult life of the Chadian people.

It’s hard to build infrastructure when the the IMF which is basically a tool of the west makes sure they are completely drenched in debts and endless loans. It was a system established right after the colonial period. It’s been more deadly than the actual colonial system. Only 3 countries never took a loans from IMF. That’s Libya, Botswana and Eritrea. We’ve all seen what happened to Libya. When Gadaffi tried to come up with a new Africans system that would challenge the IMF Libya was invaded by NATO, completely destroyed and pillaged to the core. It’s a way to send a message to whoever will try to oppose that system. The same happened in Congo when Lumumba tried to nationalize the resources. Same happened to Thomas Sankara when he tried to make Burkina Faso self sufficient. For example, this country Chad has a lot of Uranium, gold and oil which is exploited by France. Even their monetary system is french (Le Franc CFA).

This is a great documentary and done very well. Thank you.
As an African from Eritrea living in the US, my heart goes out to my fellow Africans who struggle from day to day to live decent lives and yet keep their dignity and humanity. Shame on so many African leaders who don’t look after their own citizens’ welfare.
Also climate change is wreaking havoc on the poorest of the world and the more prosperous countries have a duty to extend real assistance to those who are suffering through no fault of their own.
Africans have existed since the dawn of history and with their humanity and creativity intact they will remain.
By the way, of all the modern machinery and transport system ‘Toyota cars and lorries are a true wonder. I agree with a viewer who said Toyota company should give a brand new one to this driver (then again with the latest electronics it may be rendered useless for such creative reconstruction to the local terrain and use). This writer has also seen many Toyota and some Mercedes trucks adapted and used by Eritrean freedom fighters during our 30 years of war. The ingenious Eritrean mechanics practically revamped almost every aspect of the car to be used in the mountains and deserts of Eritrea.

So glad for new episodes. I love this series. Been watching for a long time. I hope it keeps going. I drive for UBER on occasion and I picked up a passenger from the navel base who is originally from kenya, and we started talking about documentaries. When I mentioned this one his face lit up and we had a great conversation. He to is a big fan of Deadliest Journeys. Was a really cool experience. First time I've had a passenger from somewhere who didn't say a show about their home town/state/country was pure crap.
I just remembered I also picked up a young lady who was also originally from kenya (I live in Florida BTW) she was on her way to the airport to fly home and was talking to someone on the phone, she said she was scared to go back because of all the robberies. She said she wasn't afraid for her life or anything it's just when they rob you instead of having a gun or knife they have a handful of human feces and threaten to rub it on you if you don't hand over your stuff. I had to laugh because I seem to remember the kenya episode said the same thing, or someone in that episode said something similar.

Not many countries actually knows Chad since the government and security forbids foriegners taking pictures of them and places of interest. Meaning you had to have local friends as assurance for picture and video activities in their communities or town. Yes Toyota is their king of the roads and no holds bars. Flash storm and flood has never been solved as by experienced there. March- July hottest, August rains, October November cool and cold till January. Honestly quite peaceful apart the top Northern and the bottom Southern border part crisis. Chadian people merci beaucoup.😂

This documentary is truly remarkable. As a dedicated Toyota enthusiast, one of my greatest concerns has always been the potential for Toyota to become overly reliant on electronic and digital advancements. There is a risk that, in some regions, these innovations could make Toyota vehicles less appealing if owners can no longer perform repairs themselves when issues arise.
Toyota has built a reputation for producing reliable and accessible vehicles that are appreciated globally. It's crucial for their engineers to recognize this and continue manufacturing straightforward, durable pickup trucks that can be maintained by users in any part of the world.
Ultimately, this documentary serves as an insightful reminder of the balance needed between innovation and practicality

This is so sad. This country with vast natural resources to sell the world has done absolutely nothing to build any infrastructure such as dams, bridges, levees and roads. The leadership should be ashamed of themselves. No people should have to live this way. Scrambling in the mud to get a truck across a river, packing 20 people into a pickup truck. Best love and wishes to the incredibly strong people of Chad. Thanks for opening my eyes.
