      Back in my young clubbing days I learned that my friends were loyal until around midnight when they met their one night stands and I'd have to find a ride home. That was never my thing so I started to take my own vehicle and not drink too much. My guy friends would make sure I got to my truck safely. I was "the responsible one" and took keys away from friends and gave rides. Poor Riley. His friends did let him down and they will most likely live with the guilt forever. R.I.P. Riley.

      He was a grown man. Don't put blame on his friends. I am sure they already blame themselves enough. We just need to allow our kids to grow up these days. Either way to blame his friends is a low IQ and low blow.

    why on earth would anyone believe that something was an "accident" just because police said so within minutes of pulling a body out of the water?? That's just ignorant and wouldn't be the stance if it were your kid.

      @donnaveitpolanski4154 Місяць тому +12

      At first I thought it was an accident. Possibly drinking all day before going out. Frat brothers let him leave alone and he got lost. Maybe went into the bushes to pee and fell into the river. BUT you'd think he would get hung up on a tree before hitting the water. He could have gotten up and kept falling I suppose. My opinion changed after learning all he had on was his shirt, socks and boxers. If he was concious in the water and tried to remove his boots and pants to be lighter, it would be almost impossible. Jeans and western boots fit tightly, I don't believe they would come off in the current like some are saying. I pray the family gets answers. It won't bring him back, but it might help if justice gets served if that's the case. 😢

      I'm just curious but do you live in Nashville? Because this tragedy has happened a lot. The river is right there by a bunch of bars. Military men have accidentally drove in and drown. Or people fall in accidentally. I lived at Fort Campbell for almost 20yrs and worked as a nurse in the hospital near there. I'm not saying it couldn't be foulplay but one thing I haven't noticed mentioned is if Riley had marfans syndrome? That might play a part if he was heavily intoxicated. It can affect the heart and cardiovascular system. Or an aortic dissection. They said he was 6ft 7 so I can't imagine that he didn't have it?

      I think humans generally have these feelings of love and a primal need to put that energy to good use. Some have children, or the focus is their partner, others may have only animals. It's still the same kind of love they are seeking a recipient for. The same devastation.

      @colorbugoriginals4457 the love you have for an animal, although noble, is not even in the same hemisphere as the love for a child. Both parents share DNA with their offspring. A baby deposits their own DNA into the mother as they grow.
      I have known people who had 'fur babies' and realised how ridiculous it was to equate that relationship with being a parent once they became one.
      Stop minimising the sacredness of the relationship between a parent and child. People grieve the loss of their pets.
      Parents never recover from the loss of a child.

      22 'feels grown ' when you're 22. At my present age, I realize just how ungrown 22 was. (A young brain doesn't mature and form all its adult neuro-connections until 25 or so.) It's one of life's tricks, I think, and causes us to make loads of mistakes. Pour alcohol on all that and 'death by misadventure' (or much, much worse) isn't out of the question.
      Very sad. Hope the family gets answers they can live with. (And a note to young adults: Never, EVER get too high to navigate in public spaces, but if you do, have a double pinky-swear buddy system, NO EXCEPTIONS.)

      100%. I remember eons ago when I was 14, went to a summer camp. I've always been a strong swimmer, and signed up for everything swimming related. One was a basic survival type class. We had to jump in with pants, shoes, shirt, and an overshirt on top of the tshirt. Were taught how to remove clothes while treading water, and how to inflate some clothes to use as a life preserver. It was very difficult to take off the pants. Like you said, they cling to you, and they're water logged and if wearing jeans-they're heavy.

    It’s hard to drown when the water isn’t deep enough at the edge and 6 ft 7 boy could just stand up. Also no evidence he fell never showed any place where it appeared a large object fell down the embankment his debt card upstream. A 61 year old man fell down the embankment and wasn’t in the water and could yell so a 22 year old should be able to get help as well. The fact no evidence was ever seen that Riley fell anywhere. It was just said. And all the other bodies that were found around the time Riley was missing had clothes still on and not 8 miles down the river. With a log holding his head under a barge. But he had no water in his lungs. There is just as many reasons to see foul play as those who assume it wasn’t. Bless you

    There was one interesting aspect that I saw in another video where a police officer checking a car break in greets him and Riley replies back. But within seconds you can hear Riley say something to somebody else. So I thought this person could have done harm to Riley. It was also puzzling that two female Tik-Tokkers found his credit card on the shore of the river days later. How does that happen, ie, his card not being on him when his body was discovered? Now I learn from this video that he was wearing no pants when his body was found. Another expert said it is extremely difficult for the pants and boots to come off which totally contradicts you SF guy. Was there some kind of hook up he may have made to lead to this tragedy? I don't know. Any good detective might suspect foul play or at least be inclined to investigate.

Just a thought....if he were suffering from alcohol poisoning, drug use, a rare aneurysm, etc ..He could have been robbed of his clothes AFTER he died..scenario speculation only; Homeless person thinks Riley is passed out drunk, steals his clothes and shoes..notices he is deceased, becomes scared and places him in the water. If Riley was found in his boxers that would be better then half naked. But I heard he only had his shirt and watch on. I would rather believe your story. But I heard it more than by one person he was only found with the shirt and watch on. Either way it’s so sad. Someone needs to go look for those items and his phone with a metal detector near where he supposedly fell in. But being6 ft 7. All he had to do was stand up the edge of the river isn’t deep. Or yell if he were able to. But he couldn’t panic if he wasn’t knocked out. So dry drowning theory wouldn’t apply. And as I said drowning so close to the edge of the river seems not very likely. And his debt card thought to be in his shirt pocket was upstream from any place he could have stumbled into the water or down the embankment. The log on top of his head wedging against a barge is another red flag. Poor Riley.

    This hit me so hard, having collage age daughter’s, one who made the same type of trip to Nashville for a boyfriends frat formal. The intoxication alone can put you in a bad situation fast, either to be taken advantage of by others or create your own mishap. I guess with girls maybe more emphasis is put on that and sticking together with the group, also not to overdue it with the alcohol. But we all know how that goes sometimes. So heartbreaking, especially since it could have turned out much differently if he was escorted back to the hotel by a buddy, or at least gotten an uber or cab back there. RIP Riley 🙏🏼. There seems to be some disagreement amongst experts and reliable source materials. Throat spasms are not something that occur while a person is submerged, but rather after they have been removed from the water and then manage to get a few breaths. Can happen hours or even days later, so say the experts. The one you quoted insists this occurs during submersion although I have been unable to find any online reputable sources that agree with that.

The only thing for sure is thousands have kids going missing that never get any answers or are able to grieve as they continue to wait for their loved one.
