Alright we're ready and set for Season Two of this masterpiece of bleak, cringe comedy! Let's make BoJack a movie star! If you want to see the next episode's reaction right now, check out our Patreon: www.patreon.com/semblanceofsanity
My favourite joke this episode was.... Princess Carolyn " There has to be a difference between monotomy and monogamy" Vincent:" whats mahogany??" Princess Carolyn "Oh i see what this is!!! I think you should go!!" The misunderstanding that leads PC to the conclusion that Vincent is cheating on her 😂😂😂😂😂😂
I love how even though a lot of the comedy in the show is dark it doesn’t feel like a nihilistic slog. They sprinkle in just enough absurdity to make the medicine go down.
“The secret to happiness isn’t to search for meaning, it’s to keep yourself occupied with unimportant nonsense and eventually you’ll be dead “ Walks off whistling happily 😂😂
I’ve started watching this show with you guys. And it kinda blows my mind how good it is. I’m stationed in Japan and legit got here when y’all started reacting to it. By the time I’m outta here, y’all should be finished lmao. It’s so satisfying watching a show week to week apposed to binging, so I’m excited for this wild ride.
Yes! Bojack doesnt even seem like binge-mode factored into its production (not lots of cliffhanger and stuff like that) so it works with a weekly watch. That way you get to think on it and feel your way through than bulldozing through the whole thing!
5:25 Mr Peanutbutter's speech here is what I show people when I want to give an example "positive nihilism", so many people think that nihilism (AKA the philosophical stance that "nothing matters") is all about depression, but there's a way to internally rationalize it as being more free than ever before: if nothing matters, then it doesn't make a difference what you do or the bad things that happen to you, because you will be dead one day and therefore unable to care about what happened to you in life (note: this part only really applies to atheists, but it's rare to find a nihilistic theist anyway), and eventually the heat-death of the universe is going to erase humanity anyway. It's a way to nullify the existential crisis of living, where you feel like you NEED to do something or make a name for yourself or whatever your obsession is, because looking past that you can see it will all mean nothing in the end, so you might as well just live a happy life of insignificant things that make you happy instead of dwelling on finding a "purpose", because whatever purpose you try to take might make you feel worse if you don't accomplish it, and eventually whatever you achieved will be destroyed by universal nature anyway.
Yup, as an atheist I can confirm that this is kinda the only positive outlook on life and more importantly on dying (that was brilliantly represented in one particular episode) you can have when you believe that.. well, this is it.
@@mattiasjohannorglaan2967 yeah it's absurdism -- people tend to conflate all branches of existentialism as nihilism, or say "positive/optimistic nihilism" when talking about absurdism or existentialism in general :P
I love how they called up the Legend of Sisyphus with Princess Caroline 😂😂 “Hold all my calls Laura, I have to push a boulder up a hill and have it roll over me time and time again with no regard for my own well-being “
I love that throughout this whole episode spanning several days, Bojack holds that trophy he won in his hand and brings it with him everywhere and it's never even addressed at all. 😀 Genius.
I've been watching Bojack since day 1, and I've seen the entirety of the series on my own at least 5 or 6 times. I've seen quite a few reactions as well, and you guys are legitimately some of the best reactors I've seen for this show. Many of the points you're making are things I still hadn't necessarily picked up on or considered myself after all this time. This show just keeps getting better, and I'm really excited to hear your thoughts as you go through it.
Yes it’s great to find a reaction channel that is genuinely enthusiastic about this show, and their analysis is very good. So many UA-cam channels have simply not understood this show at all (looking at you 3rd street reactions)
@@chrisgreen8803 so many reaction channels just stare at the screen blankly, laughing occassionally. These guys at least put in effort so I enjoy them.
Mr Peanutbutter was very honest. He's surpressing everything that bothers him and distracts himself. Just like he admitted to Diane here. He is called by fans an example of toxicpositivity which could be correct. He knows things are not ok with him and with others, and he surpresses it all to put on a shallow smile....
Bojack can be so wacky and absurdist with its humor, and on the other side, the most real upsetting human stuff and somehow it still works together and the tone shift isn’t jarring.
This has got to be the best reaction to this show I've ever seen. You guys do such a great job at unpacking all of the layers that the show lays out and truly appreciating the show for what it is instead of just saying, "Wow, that's deep" and then moving on. This is the first series I've seen you react to, but I can't wait to dive into more of your content.
I appreciate how much you meaning you find in side gags, like Vincent, and I think you make some very interesting points in that regard, but I feel I should say-part of this show’s humor is telling jokes a few too many times. Just because it’s not FUNNY doesn’t necessarily mean there’s a larger reason to keep a gag going. Sometimes the joke is just “They’re STILL doing this joke?” Not everyone likes that style of humor (I happen to love it) but you have to admit-there is no show more fitting than this one to beat a dead horse.
First minute, great insight. They did wrap things up so that everything is resolved in case they weren’t renewed. But starting from season 2, they got Netflix to agree to tell them the year before canceling so that they could have a season to wrap the story.
I would like to see Vincent Adultman through PC's perspective. In S01x07, PC reluctantly goes on a date with Bojack. She turns 40, only her phone "wishes" happy birthday, and she probably wants to "settle down"? She had been in an an on and off relationship with BJ since episode 1. Then she meets the Adult-man after Bojack calls her over to the bar in the middle of the night- to sabotage Diane's wedding. I may agree with the fact that only Bojack sees it because of the reasons you stated. But I'd focus on PC that she doesn't see the reality because (maybe) she is desperate to be in a relationship. Sometimes in a relationship we see only what we want to see, right? Most of your questions and hunches will be addressed over the upcoming seasons. CONTINUITY & INTEGRITY will be the key in terms of the characters as well as events. I might even go to the extent of saying Honeydew is a character in the show. You will never capture all of the jokes in many frames. Welcome to the world of Bojack! "It is going to be a sensational 5 more seasons of television" 🙂
I'm so hype for you guys to get more heavily in-depth with the series later seasons. I can't for ya'll reactions and analysis on the future season episodes because you guys are in for a wild, existential, depressing ride.
Me and hubby adopted so many quotes from Vincent Adultman from this one episode. xD 5:25 If dogs could talk and write philosophy books... He's not really wrong, you know. Also Mr. Peanutbutter and Todd doing anything together has the same energy as Daffy and Lola Bunny interacting in the Looney Tunes Show. Which you guys should absolutely watch someday (if you haven't already). Comedy gold.
More like Lola and Lola. Daffy is kinda Zo.. BoJack ;) Underappreciated hilarious show with "lazy" premise that is indeed turned out to be a comedy gold.
For anyone who is a patron, do you lose Discord access after you stop being a patron? Been considering joining cause I'd love to be part of their Bojack discussions in there.
We conclude the first season of this wonderful and depressing show. 13:30 Oooooooh he was standing there!!!! How did i never notice that OMG!!!! Don't mind me my mind was just blown by this show for the 19999990th time , don't worry that cannot possibly spoil you.

even calling it a comedy is a stretch, it’s got some comedic elements but the “bleakness” is really what it’s known for lol
The building they were zooming out on was the place Bojack and Herb said they'd go when he won the award
The planetarium
Griffith Observatory! On Mount Hollywoo
I have bad memories when it comes to the planetarium.
Its the observatory in LA, its in a lot of film and tv
