- At the BVE Expo in London the new premium SmallHD 503 daylight viewable monitor was on display. It is a 2200nit display with wide viewing angles. It should be well suited to camera top, gimbal and Steadicam use.

This thing is still unbeatable. The industry standard 5”. Gonna pick one up now for $1400
Anyone know the...
1) Weight?
2) Power Draw?
Does over expose the image like the 702 Bright does?
I finally bought one and I can verify that the answer to my above question is NO. This monitor has perfect exposure representation.
Is that really true? Because this is something I really am looking for. So many monitors cannot faithfully show highlights....it overexposes the image quickly to the point you cant see shit.
will this work with sidefinder for 501/502?
Does it use the same Canon LP batteries?
They literally showed you the battery plate mounting points on it.
do me a favor n tell this monitor dude to f off lol and let him know i painted my cats litter box black and i now want 9 thousand dollars for it..if he is in the market 😊😊
Get a new spokesperson. Nothing he said convinced me why this is waaaaaay more than the new SmallHD Focus, which is only $500. More brightness and SDI ports...that's really it from what I can see. $2000 vs $500? Great looking monitor but would get an Atomos Shogun at that price point and get my 4K recorded uncompressed. I'll take $500 for the win.
I think the small hd focus is only 800nits. vs 2000 nits this claims. one downside of the focus is no hdmi out (or no out of any kind, if you want to send a wireless signal to the director). the lack of a hdmi out on the small hd focus can be worked around using a hdmi splitter though, but than you may also run into other issues. for the money the atomos shogun is better value, however it is also much larger and heavier
Yeah, i wouldn't think that one would choose this option if they needed features like that (sending feed to a directors monitor). But meant for the person who just needs to get great exposure, needs a monitor that can be seen in daylight, compact, and affordable. Yeah, and its 800 nits...the 503 model they are showing in this video claims to be 2000nits, but definitely not the Focus store.smallhd.com/store/FOCUS-Micro-HDMI-Monitor-Nikon
It's super expensive therefore by definition it must be for professional people to use....! What a cock! I'd rather put my money down the drain than buy this overpriced monitor that is no doubt very good, but is it that good that it's more than 4 times the price of a competent alternative....? Some will buy it, just not with my budgets....!!
