Ohh I forgot, this one is great because it can also sharpen the stabilo woody. Swordfish ‘The Triple’ Three Hole Pencil Sharpener. So you only need to carry one. ☝🏻

For the FC sharpener... You should be able to replace the blade? Not the plastic bit, just the blade. Most handheld sharpeners have standard blades, so if you have a cheap one laying about, switch the blade or buy replacements.
At home I use the T'gaal, KUM Longpoint, a couple of metal handheld ones (no tubs) and Derwent Superpoint manual. Out of those, I'd recommend only the KUM for you if you want to have sharpest points and use the sharpener on the go, however, my 'take anywhere' sharpener is the dirt cheap Staedtler two hole one (model 512). Love it. Takes a lot of beating and costs about £1 over here (1-2 euros). Available everywhere, from Lidl to bookstores to any shop really. 😅 Replaceable blades, good sized tub. Fits all common pencils (CdA, FC, Derwent etc.).

Thank you for the suggestions! I will look into them! Yeah, I looked into replacing the blades of the FC one, and the ones I found were silly money. I assumed they’d be a custom size but you might be right about generic blades, I’ll look into it. I’d have to find a way of getting the FC blade off though, because it’s not held in with a cross-head screw, but a triangular thing. But I’m sure I can work it out. Thanks for the helpful comment!

Hi Emma. Loving your holiday footage. Some of the plants in your last video at the castle looked prehistoric! Stunning.
Unsure about replacement blades, but I now use the K'Zool sharpener. It let's you dial up or down to get the sharpness you want. Definitely works for FC polychromos and CD Luminance. I think Derwent are too thick. Also, in a similar vain, the T'Gaal is quite popular.... I prefer the K'Zool personally. I have the FC one you have and use it for my graphite. I also have a Maped brand double hole with sharpening container, less than 2 aus dollars, and is brilliant (my son had it in his school pencil case)
So, I feel that expensive isn't always better.
Have fun. Hugs for Rollie x Nell.

This looks so nice! How is the midget problem in the summer in this island Emma? I don’t think I could go unless is warm. It’s so beautiful tho! :)

I’m sure Arran gets its fair share of midges and ticks but that’s part of the reason we go in the spring - it’s not quite the start of the insect-y season. I’ve not seen any midges on this trip. Nor ticks, but Andy saw a couple of ticks on his climb in the hills. But nothing like you’d see in warmer summer months. It’s been lovely and warm in Arran on this holiday (except rain day!). I suppose it’s a bit of pot-luck anywhere in the U.K. (at any time of year 😅)

I think I recognised this shirt you were wearing, is it from the shop in Sheffield?
I saw it from afar and to me it looked like a cat on a washing line with a peg on top, but now I see there're two hands holding him! 😂
I've got curious - if you use primarily Polychromos, why did you decide to get some Luminance? Is it because of their colour or out of curiosity? 😊
I like Polychromos too, they are by far my favourite pencils, but sometimes I wonder how Luminance are different... and afraid to go get some, what if I'll like them more?😅
    Have a great sketching day!

Yep, it’s my t-shirt design 🤩 so some of my luminance were bought before I knew anything about pencils. And some were bought after. They’re basically really luscious and pigment-intense. I think they might also be lightfast,…I think! But they’re more expensive too. I got a dark indigo one recently that I’m saving for outlining my finished illustrations. I hope that helps!

I agree! The MR sharpeners are lovely as well. And the bullet brass sharpener is small and powerful. But all the Kum are great!
