The original battery box is a perfect location to store wet/muddy shoes.
It even has drain holes for moisture.
Just clean it up and spray a water repellent coating to prevent corrosion.
Maybe spray it w/RHINO LINER after cleaning it w/ a acid neutralizer solution (baking soda) & rinsing well?
That'd make a Nice durable finish for the interior of the box!

I'm so sorry to hear about Dresden's passing away. Angela must be devastated. Pets can be so much like a family member or a best friend. Prayers that she finds comfort thru this loss and to always remember the fun times shared with him. Maybe someday, her heart can heal and she find another pet to love.
My heart truly goes out to Angela especially, and you too. The loss of a sweet family member is never easy and I have experienced those losses too often. My prayers are with both of you.
Apparently no one heard you say that your brother passed away and they are talking about the loss of Dresden. Maybe I heard you wrong but I don't think so.
Just saw this, Eric. I am SO SORRY for the passing of Dresden! I know exactly how you feel as I’ve had kitties nearly my entire life. (Let’s just say over 60 yrs). The loss is so great, in fact, one of our two kitty’s right now is trying to leave us. Basically no food for nearly two weeks, and giving her water with an eyedropper. They are like children to their owners, and I know Angela’s kitty loved her very much, as much as she loved her Drezzy. It is ok to mourn, but remember it really does get better with time. 😘😽😿
Angela - our hearts are hurting right along with you. I lost a cat in October, he was 20.5 yrs old. My black female, who reminds me of your kitty, is now 17. Many HUGS from all of us!
So sorry for your loss. It’s always so hard to lose our fur babies. I lost my heart dog very unexpectedly on New Year’s Eve and I’m still missing her terribly. Dressy had a really long and loving life with you Angela. Take some comfort in that.
So very sorry for the lost of Drezy, he was a beautiful loving kitty. I too am a cat person, my Katie is going on 23 years but she struggles everyday to survive. You have my greatest heartfelt sympathy, may your grief find comfort and peace. You were a great Mom and Drezy was blessed to have you as you were him. Big hugs
I am so sorry to hear about Dresden, and my heart goes out to you. Its hard to lose a companion under any circumstances Take your time to deal with it and understand that you owe no explanation for taking the time you need to deal with it. I lost our Abner at 16 a year ago and I still look for him everyday. Its helped that we have always had more then one cat but no matter that is still an empty spot and it takes time to deal with the loss. The very hardest part of being a pet companion is that in just about every case we do outlive them and that is something we have to accept when we first adopt them - no matter what we do at some time we do have to say good bye. I know that Dresden was not around for long and that Jax and Dresden were still coming to terms with each other but even if a cat has only been with you a short period of time the other cats in the house will notice the loss and they may have a grief reaction or loss reaction as they may not understand what happened to the other one. We have had losses like that of cats we took in from rescues to give them a home during what was known was going to be tehir last days as well as had companions that had been with us for as much as 20 years and then passed away. Just saying this as you may need to be mindful of Jax as the move to the motor home is still new to him, as was the introduction of an other cat and now that cat has gone. I am not sure of the circumstances and whether it happened at your home or if your were at a vet and whether Jax was a witness or not but it can leave a surviving cat with a level of upsetment or even fear that these changes mean the same for him. Be a bit over protective and notice if there is any behavior change whether in his eating or litter box habits or if he seems more clingy or more aloof then usual. The most important thing for Jax maybe sticking to his "normal" as much as you can even though with the change in housing and in your personal relationship a lot of his "normal" that he was used to over the years had changed a great deal and very suddenly. He may end up needing a bit of time to adjust to thing too.
One thing about the step where you removed the battery from - we did the same to place batteries elsewhere and did plan to repurpose that space for other things but did not think of the fac that it was a very easy opening to the outside once there was no battery sitting over the drain holes. It turns out that if you don't cover it/close it in some way if you happen to hit an area to park in that has an rodent it makes a very quick entrance inside for them where they have to not work at chewing a way in. We quickly learned that one of the first things we should have done was to have sealed that battery drain holes as soon as possible. With the battery sitting over those nothing is getting in but once there was blocking them that was an open door and the step lid was not a stopper at all.
The problem with running a line from the water tank to the back of the RV and putting the bend in up above the tank is that after so many inches from the tank its too difficult when the water pump is running for enough air to flow through that length to allow the pump to not create a vacuum. That was what actually our RV tech tried and we quickly had a vacuum created and had to turn the pump off, allow it to regulate again and then turn it back on . it just was not workable. That is why we went with caps that allowed air to pass both ways when traveling but did not allow water to leak out and when we stopped to camp one of the step up steps for the camp was taking the caps off and then putting them back on while traveling and removing them for fill ups or when not on the road. Yeah its one extra little nuisance step to deal with when setting up a camping or getting ready to leave but it worked the best and we could use water while moving - although we also had other things for fresh waters (bottles and a countertop water filter that heal a gallon of water) while moving.
Angela, I am so sorry to hear about Dresden, my heart and sympathy goes out to you both during this sad time. Hugs to you both.

Perfect fix for water issue. That is how we fixed our same issue.
Eric, consider installing an anti-siphon valve at the top of your water vent.
Also check out the marine supply places; boaters, especially sail boaters have successfully dealt with tank vents.

Our set up would feed a FlexMax80 and it would routinely reach 80 amp output when we had large loads going. That was with our 1260 watt array.
So sorry Angela there are no words that I can say that will help at this time..❤️. Most of us have felt this pain only a few of us have felt this after so many years though.

Water problem: my 34 foot sea ray boat never had the issues that you are having. The fresh water tank was in the v berth, the vent for incoming air was two feet higher above the tank mounted externally on the gunnell and screened so bugs couldn't get in, there was no overflow, I simply filled the tank until the fill tube overflowed at the point of filling. And very sorry to hear of your loss.
You could install a T or Y connector and use 2 check valves aimed opposite directions. The slight pressure needed to open the valve may keep water from sloshing out one way while still letting it out during overflow and the other let air in when needed. Just an idea...

Angela, my 24 year old JuneBug and 19 year old Abraham both crossed The Bridge this past year, and I know they'll both be waiting for Dresden to arrive in Cat-halla (its like the Viking's Valhalla, except for cats) and will show him the ropes. My bunch sends their love.

If towns here closed down because of the heat, 75% of Australia would disappear.
It's more a matter of having no customers while it is so hot! Most people would travel there during cooler weather and there just wouldn't be enough business for them during the hot season to stay open.
Uh, no. You install a check valve, which is designed to allow one-way flow, in one vent, do any suction in the tank "sucks" air past it. Then you just deal with one (the other) overflow valve, which can be a simple pressure relief, or higher overflow tube.

Dresden waited until he knew Angela was going to be ok. I believe they are our angels guiding us through our journey and fulfillment. Its heartbreaking when they leave us. Be strong in love.
