Love the UR824. So versatile for any application in and out of the studio. Steinberg really did think of everything with this unit. Excellent review. Still an impressive piece of gear in 2021.
Our great guitarist Dom!
Brilliant review. I've just bought this interface and wasn't aware of the iPad functionality.
Really good video!!
Glad you enjoyed it Fwuzeem!
I have nothing significant to add. I got this one last year and it's da bomb! What I would like to say is it's interesting to see someone else do their thang with the same equipment just slightly different. Good inspirational video, now when it's starting to sink into the background I get this refreshing review, thanks a lot! :D
Now let's see I have some stuff to tryo ut ... hmm
Hi PinkPonyOfPrey! Thank you for your feedback! We're really glad you found the video useful and inspirational :-)
great video!
Nice video!! This audio interface is awesome :)
Thank you my friend! Really glad you enjoyed the video! This interface is awesome indeed ;-)
Hi im a new UAD User and I just gotta have your input on something. What UAD Mastering EQ you think is best for modern Hip Hop/Trap/RnB Mixes? Also SSL VS API Strip? (for same Genre). I Think i will mostly use the UAD Plugins for mixbus/master processing. Any Specific Plugins you could recomend from UA for the "standard 2017 Beatmaker" :D? Much Love //Nils
Liked the review a lot! I just bought this one going from UR44 to UR824. I never got how to install the Morph effects and Guitar Amp Classics. Guess its coming with a CD to install on the computer? Does it need to be licensed in the eLicenser program? Thanks again, very well explained. Also like to learn how to hook-up external gear like pre-amps, compressor, reverb hardware and what not... And then how to route it internally in Cubase Pro 10.
Answering my own question: The "FX Basics Suite" (contains the Channel Strip, etc) is a download from Steinberg. With the Audio Interface (both for UR44 and UR824) comes an activation code (for "FX Basics Suite") on a piece of paper inside the box that the Audio Interface came with. But, that code needs first to be activated in the "eLicenser program" that you install on your computer/USB stick. Then the "Channel Strip with Morph (EQ and Compression)", "Yamaha Reverb FX" and "Guitar Classics Amp" will work. 😊
Hi, thank you for the review! Can you tell me if this device works as standalone too? (without connecting to a computer). Thanks!
Great review, really in depth on the dsp stuff. Do you find you "print" the FX when you record more or are you doing "2-pass" - first use FX on monitoring and then store / copy / apply on remix or start from scratch? Or do you ignore them and prefer 3rd party plugins?
Hi, hoping you might have some insight. I cannot get my Ur824 to print, render in place, record, the built in Revx. Everything recorded is dry. I even tried putting it on a bus and then render in place with a send. Nothing. The build in reverb simply only goes to monitors.
@@auggiebendoggy I had the same problem on my RME Fireface UFX and then read a hint somewhere that in order to print/record the reverb onto your track you had to have the loopback button engaged on the interface (RME in my case). Then it will print the reverb onto the recording.
One word of caution though, right after you are done recording make sure to turn off the loopback button. I didn't and when you go to listen to your track through your DAW it causes a feedback loop and makes your monitors scream at a million decibels.
@@scottchase1972 haha that's exactly what happened.
Maybe a silly question but the UR242 also shares the same dspMixFX.. understand that it's only for monitoring, but does this also mean you can use it live in your mic source to add reverb into other apps for live such as skype or any other program after selecting the interface as the mic source? thanks
I know you can. On the UR44C so i think it should be possible on the UR824 as well. As long as you dont use an ASIO app the dspMixer has full control.
Hello , I don't understand why , when i active the alim phantom on UR 824 there is nothing ...
I have several static Samson CO2 pickups that have always worked well
otherwise everything works correctly with dynamic microphones
Very good. Connect with ipad is possible recorded multitrack more than 8 channels in ur824?
Can you show us how to setup head phone mixes in Cubase with ur824 or any hardware using dspMixFx? Thanks
what good is reverb that you can only monitor? Sure it's nice to monitor it, but what if you want to record the track with the reverb? My UR824 doesn't record the build in Rev-x. I've tried everything under the sun. Nothing doing.
Question when you use the USB to control it via the dsp app, how do you connect a computer to record at the same time?
Is it possible to use this tube tech with that audio interface? Can I select +4dBu?
This is al new for ...do you know what the daw inputs are for...and if you own 2 ur824,s ...are the fx than limited...exuse for bad spelling butt i am dutch
Hi can i use 2 more interfaces like octopre via adat? can i use all inputs and outputs via adat?
Hi all! This is officially my first post in any type of music forum as I am as new to music production as I am obsessed with it. I have a pending deal to buy the UR824 in excellent/used condition with all the cords and the owners manual included. I plan on paying $120.00 American for it. Is that at least a fair deal? And is this a good choice for someone who has never owned an Audio Interface? I'll mainly be using it in conjunction with Ableton and will certainly be recording a lot of guitar and bass, as those are the two instruments I am proficient on. Thank you...and best wishes in your musical endeavors.
Did you buy it in the end, I know your post is like a year old😅 but no one responded and was your first post
Yes but can monitor the inputs in cubase
Is the dsp able to arm all 8 channel, or limit to any number?
Hi, does the dspMixFx also integrated into Nuendo too?
Yes
sir steniberg ur 824 ka direct monetring kaise band kare please answer
thanks for the video. Let's talk about conversion. I'm about to buy an interface. between this or a apogee ensemble, what would be your choice? I do not use cubase.
Reminds me of EMU 18/20m
Aaaaah we used to own one of these as well !
I just scrapped my 1820m, it was ahead of its time.
what about the latency? mine has the latency for 7ms, i got some crack and poping sound if i set the latency to 6ms in my asio. Also the dspMixFx UR824 doesn't work at all, it says 'No Device Found'. I was using focusrite scarlett 2i2 and the latency was way better, i could set the latency under 5ms.
The dspMixFx (the mixer) cannot be used inside Cubase/Nuendo, only in other DAW's...I think! Check the manual. But you can use the other stuff like reverb, etc in Cubase.
What if you are trying to use Garageband? Does a separate USB come with this interface? I believe I am missing it.
