- Are you asking yourself “How do I start livestreaming with my phone in great audio quality?” or “What do I need to stream live?” Livestreaming is a cool way to interact with your audience and, in this video, Dom Sigalas looks at live streaming on Instagram, Facebook, UA-cam and other social media platforms, using an iPhone or iPad and a Steinberg UR Series audio interface. With this livestream set up, Dom shows that livestreaming vocals or an instrument over Instagram is very straightforward. You can use the dspMixFX app to mix your levels and also add and control the DSP effects onboard your UR interface. The step-by-step tutorial ends with singer Iro joining Dom to perform a song live on Instagram.

If anyone is struggling to make it work with the UR44 or another audio interface with more than 2 inputs, this worked for me: using inputs 1 and 2 and restarting the app you are using

I've found a lot of the streaming apps on iphone disable the external audio input. UA-cam for example seems to do this, and the only way I've found around it is to use the lightning port's audio connection. Is there a setting in the UA-cam studio app to change to external audio?
I can't record a video with sound on Instagram nor Facebook, but TikTok works. How to get around this.
@@Zarumaans I think it’s not possible direct and only with interface and iPhone. It’s very misleading. Many people experienced this problem but they even don’t respond here and also not on other videos. I wanted to buy this interface but no I will buy other gear if they’re not even kind enough to respond to people.

I correctly understood that to connect to the phone is used USB-C on board your audio interface which used to connect to a computer? Can I connect one thing? Or can you use, for example, sounds from DAW and overlay sound from microphones?

I don't have one of those interfaces but do have one which I can plug directly into my iPhone which works fine when using something like Garageband and it records the high quality audio I'm sending from my computer connected to the interface but as soon as I go into any live app such as Bigo Live or Twitch they revert to using the built-in microphone. Is there anything else we need to do nowadays in order to get this to work or have live streaming apps changed and made this much more difficult now? Many thanks for any light you might be able to shed on this for me.
I'm having trouble with a mic'd solo guitar setup. Audio is written to the left channel only. Pressing the "mono" button on the UR22C will send audio to both L/R channels during monitoring. However, when recording a video w/ my iPhone, it's being written on only one of the channels (left). I understand this could be solved by using an iOS DAW with more audio routing options. But there's no option for this in either the default camera recording app or instagram live streaming. I would imagine it to be a hassle trying to get the routings correct with an iOS daw so that this mono signal is written on both L/R channels of any recorded video. Any quick solutions?

Of course. You can have as many channels as there are on your interface and control them all from your app! If you only have two channels, you might be able to sum your voice and guitar into one stereo couple assigned to the master channel, and route the backing track to the second input. I'm not sure.
how do you connect the phone you used on IG live from your audio interface? you use two different phones - the one to have your voice effects, and the other one you used for IG live
Dom why did you use audio inputs on the 44c instead of balanced line on the front panel?
Holy shit I thought I already knew everything there is to know about audio interfaces, but I never knew you could actually plug in your phone directly into an audio interface... fucking game changer!
You can use literally any interface with a phone out and plug it in your phone's jack. Yes even iPhones without jacks (they come with a little jack to lighting plus nowadays). This will give you a basic stereo mix. Given that most people do use headphones to listen to it, it's not dumb. Of course this set-up is waaaaay better as it's giving you total control on your live mix VS just getting a cheap copy of the master out from your board/interface.
Just to be clear, this set-up only apply to Yamaha/Steinberg interfaces. You need the app to control the entire mix channel by channel. But you can the headphones out trick with any interface you may own :)

I use a very similar set to live stream on UA-cam or even to record videos on my iPhone 11 and it works perfectly, but now when I try this set to live stream on Instagram it simply won't connect informing me there is a connectivity problem, do you know how to fix this bug? My Tascam interface is connected straight to my iPhone 11 through the USB/lighting cable... CAN SOMEONE HELP?
