    I’ve made this cake every Easter, when my Mom was hospitalized, I converted it to cupcakes. It was her favorite.

    Thank you for being basic. Most of the cooking videos I see look impossible to make and the cakes and desserts are just over the top. You keep it straight and to the point. Less is more.

    This made my mouth water. Just zested and squeezed lemons today, and made scones, with plenty left over. This looks like what I need to make to use up the rest of the zest and juice.

    Thank you, I just finished making the filling and tomorrow my teenage granddaughter will be coming and she will make the cake and frosting....it will be fun.....the filling is delicious I have it in my refrigerator so it will be hardened for tomorrow....hope it's good like yours....

      @@DiannaAtherton I'm curious too. I don't plan to make the frosting but the cake is the only one I've found in 2 days of searching where the lemon flavor is coming from lemon juice and zest. Would really like to know how that filling turned out most of all. I've never made one like that and it has me a bit nervous. I know it's been a yr but I hope the OP replies to us... 🙏

    Coconut is my all time favorite flavor when baking and lemon is my moms favorite. I cant wait to try this together with her. Ive also tried to find a easy recipe for butter creme, and this finally feels like it. Butter cream goes so well with SO many different desserts. Omg... thank you!🙏

    Well I made this yesterday to rave reviews!!! Lot of steps but totally worth it!! I used 3 8" pans and reduced the baking time to 22 minutes, that worked! Saved me having to cut each cake in half.

    The sabayon buttercream tasted amazing; nothing like the too sweet taste of the classic version.

      Do you mean the American Buttercream frosting? I want to make this cake but that frosting scared me because of the powdered sugar. I'm American but I can't stand that frosting. It may be great for decorating but it's far too sweet. Have you ever had/ made a SMBC or ITMB? If you have would you compare Anna's to them?

    Looks amazing ! If I want the cake to only be 2 levels, meaning half the size you made.. I should use 50% of the amounts of ingredients?

      Yeah, I'd guess you're right: make the half of required ingredients for the dough, (slice 1 cake in 2 parts), and half the ingredients for the cream.

    Chef Anna, I absolutely love your recipes. You make it look so easy. My husband loves Coconut cake and can’t wait to try it. I am leery about using raw egg in icing.

      The eggs are not raw. They are cooked in a bain-marie (in a bowl on top of a simmering pot of water) just like you do when making custard.

    My wife’s favorite cake! But I have not used lemon...I made her jumbo blueberries muffins crunch last weekend... I love baking...and trying new methods and believe me u test me...but ur methods are tried and true...thank you so much...oh do u make ur own vanilla? I do...I have 2 fifth bottles of Grey Goose Vodka with 15 Madagascar vanilla beans each, and let them sit for 2 years! Shaking every day...wow! It’s wonderful...if ud like some let me know...I have a small bottle of Grey Goose I can send u...I think u would like it...? I make small bottles for friends and family...

    I made this cake and it was delicious but VERY VERY sweet. It was so good though my nephews who don’t like coconut loved it!!! It does take a while to make with all the steps but is worth it in the end. 😋😋God Bless

    I am not sure if it’s ur official Chanel Anna but I have been watching your shows since your show “ sugar” aired on Canadian food network, to this day you are my favorite pastry chef thank you for this and all the wonderful recipes I have tried lots of them and I can’t wait to try this.

    @1:17 and @2:52...it appears to be 8 bottles of milk. But it looks like 2 milk, 2 buttermilk, 2 cream, and 2 whipping cream. I can't really tell watching from my cell phone. But I did notice her grabbing dairy items from different places. Absolutely beautiful everything. That set is amazing And to die for. And that cake is super cute and tasty.

    I always trim the dark crumb off, that way it is white throughout & no unattractive brown there

    I (accidentally) added lemon juice to the coconut mixture. Didn't hurt, just made a little thinner, melded into cake. My brother's 60th BD/ Easter dessert. A lot of steps and a lot of butter, but worth it.

    This looks luscious! I'm curious, can you sub the sweetened coconut flakes for desiccated coconut? I understand it'll be less sweet which I prefer. But texture-wise I'm not sure.

    I use toasted coconut for the sides and top. Adds color and more flavor.

    I tried this recipe yesterday but skipped the buttercream. Then I didn't set the right temperature for baking the cake. (temp too low) The cake was a failure at first. didnt rise well, but I proceed with the filling and put into the fridge. When it's time to serve, I cut them into thin slices and bake again in the oven with the right temperature. They turned to be something else instead of a cake (i dont know what) Crunchy filling soft cake, and the taste is amazing. Thank you Anna

    LOl. This is the most decadent cake ever. Eggs, sugar, butter in the base; eggs, sugar butter in the filling; eggs, sugar, butter in the butter cream. Topped it all with sweetened coconut flakes. Have I died and gone to cake heaven?

    That cake looks delicious. I dont like processed coconut flakes as im used to real coconut. Would it stick to the frosting as well?
