Personally I love how Rosalina (who you've just met and don't know to much about yet) isn't the only one helping you throughout the adventure. Luigi and Captain toad and the toad brigade also help Mario collect power stars and even have their own dedicated area in the observatory. It shows thay you're never truly alone even in the vast area of space
Super Mario Galaxy will always hold a special place in my heart, I remember being a young kid playing on my wii and being amazed at the graphics & the art style, that still holds up. I loved listening to all of the music and still do to this day. Galaxy 2 was great but the first game was truly something special.
The score, THE SCORE!! I forgot what an amazing score this game had until I heard it again, and was flooded with a wave of nostalgia and childhood memories coming back

Got this game for christmas when i was six. I remember playing this non-stop it being my first game i ever 100% completed. I love everything about this game and i hope one day we get a Super Mario Galaxy 3 even tho Oddysey was a amazing experience. It just didn’t feel like this piece of Magic. This will forever be my favourite Mario game
This game has got to be one of the best games of all time. It's always a blast to play again, the entire soundtrack is amazing, and each of the galaxies are so interesting to explore. Bowser has got to be at his peak in this game, his music is the best in the series apart from maybe mario 64's final theme. His fight is also really unique and I love that he uses the spin attack against you. It really makes mario and bowser seem like equals, and that the fight could easily go either way. And then there's Super Mario Galaxy 2 which has got to be the best sequel of all time. It's the original but better in every way apart from the bowser fights.
The overwhelming rush of nostalgia I felt during the Comet Observatory music part. I actually started crying, I can't believe it's been *15* years. Oh God, Rosalinas story book. Now I'm a blubbering mess 😭
My favorite game ever. The orchestral music, immersive atmosphere, and incredibly varied and addicting gameplay make Mario Galaxy a timeless masterpiece.

Absolute master class of a documentary. I can feel your love for this game through the video and just wanted to say you brought me back to my childhood with this! Your content holds up to someone with a million subs in my opinion. Amazing work!
Bro. I cried with this video. my entire childhood summed up in one game. I remember coming home from school and turning on my Nintendo Wii and playing all day. this game is so perfect. amazing video!!!
playing this on the Wii just made me happy. I usually hate playing single player games cuz i feel lonely but this game made me happy because i always had luma friends or toads to interact with
I love this game to death. There's no other Mario game that comes even close to the majestic feelings and insanely cinematic masterpiece that is this game. Also FINALLY someone talks about Battlerock Galaxy. It's by far one of my personal favorites in the game along with Dreadnought as well. By far the two most underrated Mario levels ever.
I love this game and not even I feel that way, hell, I don't think I would about any game, and those two Mario levels are the most underrated!? EVER!? Umm... You're call I guess.
The Mario 128 part is very interesting. It originally began development for the N64 or N64DD as Super Mario 64 2 but then shifted to the GameCube as Super Mario 128, which was just a tech demo but Miyamoto would use the idea in Pikmin just a year later. Parts of the tech demo were used in Mario Sunshine and would more so carry on over to Mario Galaxy a full 7 years later.
Miyamoto said he wanted to have Mario walking upside-down and around a tiny planet, but the 64 couldn't do it. That may have been the main reason for the analog stick, and then they couldn't even do it. Or maybe he got the idea from the analog stick.
mario galaxy truly feels unlike any of the other mario games to me. even as a kid, where all i wanted to do was complete the game, it actually made me stop and look around. it was the first game i wanted to explore every inch of because i wanted to, not because i had to. the soundtrack and storyline also bring such emotion out of the player that i havent felt in any other game. truly one of my favorite games of all time.
Something I noticed that makes the game great is the music and gameplay linking so well. In this game everything is powerful and submersive while including the occasional synth instrument to remind us that this is a mario game. And the fact we can now ACTUALLY FIGHT Bowser feels so empowering. Everything about this game just motivates me to do so many things when I’m in a slump
A wonderful documentary. ngl everytime i see that last scene with the lumas flying into the hole it makes me cry. No other video game moment beats that
Super Mario Galaxy was one of the best games of my childhood. I loved the story, the gameplay and the soundtrack so so much 😭 just hearing all the songs in this video gave me so much nostalgia
The music in Galaxy is breathtaking. I loved a lot of the colorful and exotic galaxies such as the beach bowl galaxy. That one was definitely one of my favorites because I just love beach areas and there were penguins! The power ups in the game also were great. I was never a big fan of mario galaxy but I definitely still enjoyed it
This was such a great video, you really incorporated everything that made Galaxy so special to me, and it's amazing how much of an impact I see it had on so many people, not just me. It really is a perfect game, from start to finish, a masterpiece that will be in memory forever.
Galaxy isn't a game I grew up with (I only got 2 as a kid for some reason), but I've loved every bit I've tried of it and I really hope I can fully play through it some day!
1 day later when the game released in NA, I was born, I grew up with this game, and it was my first videogame, I play it since 2011 when I was 4 y/o, and now in 2023, I still play it at 16 y/o, and I enjoy every second I play that masterpiece, best game ever
I love basically all galaxies in this game, especially Deep Dark Galaxy! I recommend giving it a replay, its just so... deep, and its kinda bonkers and random on some of the stars! One moment you are fighting a giant witch, the next you're making a giant watermelon! I also love Melty Molten as it has amazing atmosphere... World 4 is full of bangers too :)
I was always scared of Rosalinas backstory as a kid. I never understood why she was all alone in space and the thought of being in her situation with nobody else around was frightening, still is
Um... You were scared of a Mario game? And you still are? WHAT'S NEXT MICKEY MOUSE!? EDIT: Dude you guys are getting this offended over a joke that I made when I was 12? Is this what Skibidi toilet did to your brains!?

I don’t know what type of magic you put into this video or is it just remembering back my childhood days coming back from school to play this game but I started tearing up while watching it. Thank you so much, this game has left a mark in my heart and will forever be my favorite
I remember when I first completed Super Mario Galaxy 100% with all 121 power stars with Mario and Luigi. It felt like a huge accomplishment to me because it took weeks. I’d say about at least a month, but it was worth it. I’ve also 100%ed Super Mario Sunshine, Super Mario 64, Super Mario 3D Land, Super Mario 3D World, and a lot more. There’s a few I haven’t played yet like Mario Odyssey, but I’ve seen gameplays of it and it looks fun.
This video is so awesome. Super Mario Galaxy is my favorite game of all time. The music, gameplay, and graphics go so well. Gusty Garden Galaxy has to be my favorite Galaxy and music track. It's so perfect to me. Also, might I add, around 3:00 have a look at Peach's Castle. It looks the best I've ever seen in any Mario game.
Gotta say started tearing up when u showed the end sequence... this game is truly one of my favorites ever... even the switch version is still a ton of fun to play
you have some of the exact videos i have been looking for and wanting to watch ,well its also like you cover everything so well and it helps that you have a pleasant voice to listen to, you make truly great content and thank you
I just miss being able to play this game on the Wii.... I remember my big sister scolding me for playing beach levels too much! 😅 Hey, I can't help it if the music is so cheery and the fact that I needed a LOT of practice!
To see people enjoying my favourite game of all time after 16 years is amazing to me... It truly shows how much of a masterpiece this game was. I was so happy to see it return in 3d all stars after having to leave my wii behind when moving countries cos' I thought I'd never be able to play it again. I'll always love the joy this game gave me.
i've had this game for 10 years but because i was so bad at it when i played it for the first time in the wii, i left it and didn't play it again until a week ago when i remembered it and heard that everyone says that its a great game, i gotta say is one of the great games i played so far.
This masterpiece of a game was the first game to ever make me cry as a kid because of the story. This game will forever have a true special place in my heart
I’ve never been good at video games, I’d always fail to actually complete it, recently I played galaxy on my switch all the way through, very solid experience and oddly fulfilling. One of a kind game that is so loved 💕. Also, this video was amazing! Thank you for posting
This is one of my favorite games of all time and I am CRAVING to play it rn. Other than that this game had such incredible gameplay and level design, and not to mention on of the greatest atmospheres I have ever played in a game. This was only enhanced but the smooth and psychedelic soundtrack. This game is a genuine masterpiece
I played this game every day with my mom when i was very little. Playing it, hearing the soundtrack or even just the sounds, brings me back to the best time of my life. I wish i could go back and it makes me cry.
I remember getting this game, and my Nintendo Wii for Christmas when I was around 7 or 8. To this day it was my absolute favorite Christmas ever. Playing that whole opening in my comfy Christmas bathrobe, filled up with chocolate and Christmas foods... man, ya just can't beat it. I'm a writer now, and I think about this game so much when I'm writing. Some day I want to create something that can make as much of a positive impact on someone as this game had on me.
What I loved most is the music of the setting. Feels like some kind of Star Wars-ish atmosphere, really epic. Really great documentary tho, you deserve more subs!
Ah I finally get to talk about my favorite galaxy. Melty Molten Galaxy to me feels like a sort of final streach that takes different elements from Mario's adventure and combines them into a singular Galaxy from a tense run to get to the top of a sinking structure to a brilliant reuse of a boss in an epic finale. It makes you reflect on your adventure while going through a lava filled hellscape not to mention having what I consider the Best song from both games.
Wow that bowser battle looks so cool! I already knew that Galaxy 1 had an entire observatory vs the little starship in Galaxy 2, but the Bowser battles seem so much cooler in the first game! You switch planets in one fight! And at the center of the universe! That's so much cooler than Galaxy 2's asteroid stomping thing. And it doesn't even have cool cutscenes like the first Galaxy game. I've got to play the first one some day as well.
Great video! The only thing I missed was some words about the two-player mode! I really liked to play as P2, stopping enemies, getting star bits and making Mario jump. I always think of this as a very original and nice way of making the game multiplayer.
To me, it’s the perfect game. I remember playing it with my brothers when I was 5. The first video game I ever played. I remember us trying to beat Rocky Road for hours because we were so bad. I could be on my deathbed and I’d still have an emotional reaction hearing gusty gardens
Wow really that must feel really good bringing back memories of your childhood and the fact it was your first game it's so awesome it's making me cry a little 😢
Very thoughtful analysis. This game will always be my favorite mario game. Perfect mix of story, gameplay and amazing presentation, music, art direction ect
I will never forget the feelings this game gave to me. It's been a while since I played it last time, but I'm sure that, whenever I'll play it again, it will definitely give me the same emotions as it did during my first run. Amazing video, man, one of the best I've ever watched on UA-cam.
So i actually did some light research to see the extent of the skybox sameness and *woah,* yeah, galaxy 2's skyboxes have a bunch more just normal cloudy blue skies, as well as just a lot less unique skyboxes in general? TLDR: - G2 has around 19 plain blue cloudy sky boxes, while G1 had around 11 - G2 mainly had cloudy skies and barely variated blue galaxy with milky stripe skyboxes with only a few unique variations, though they had a couple more structures or distant objects in the background - a lot off G1 was evently split between cloudy skies and a plain blue blue-violet galaxy sky - G1 at least had a good handful of differently colored galaxy skyboxes, though half off them were from the boss galaxies - the entirety of world 3 from G2 is blue cloudy skies
I'd give this video 10 likes at once if I could! That's because Mario Galaxy is my favorite game of all time! From the visuals in its space-based theme to the memorable soundtrack, and so much more! Rosalina had recently become the best Mario character, in my opinion, simply because she's a caring, loving, and nurturing mother figure, not just to her Luma children, but possibly even to us! (I'm not sure about that, but from what we see, that could be true in a way.) That storybook? Oh, that storybook... As a kid, I had no idea what it was, but replaying it becoming an adult, that ending part of Chapter 7 breaks me down in tears. I was took by surprise when you said that Shigeru Miyamoto, despite his hatred for storytelling in video games, actually loved Rosalina's story after Yoshioki Koizumi showed it to him the day after writing it late at night with no one there. The main reason why I love this game has to be the final fight with Bowser! I mean, you're fighting a huge reptilian creature in the center of the universe! This game does what no other Mario game does, and that's what makes it stand out amongst them all!
The music, visuals and gameplay...its a perfect platformer. The music and story telling makes you feel like a kid again. The devs literally captured such a happy vibe...beautiful game.
My favorite video game of all time, I can play this game all day without even getting bored. I've been playing this game for 13 years and I'm almost 17 yet this game still hasn't lost it's luster
The Gameboy Advance and the Wii are the only Nintendo consoles I ever owned, but them making a Super Mario Galaxy 3 is what will make me buy a Switch immediately.
I always liked how vague it was, her story book misses out on so many important details, it doesn't even say if it's about her or not, please don't correct me if I'm wrong about that because then I would know how terrible of a mental state you're in, but actually, it's vague enough for people to think Mario is Rosalina's father, and it being so mysterious, is why I like it... For the most part.
@@Yosssssssss, even though I barley know what FNF is, and I am supporting their opinion, and aren't you doing the same thing? If me agreeing with them means that, you you talking about me agreeing with them would too.
For a while I called Odyssey my favorite Mario game and then I replayed this and had an absolute blast all throughout and for a bit this and Odyssey were tied for my favorite but now I’m leaning more towards this because of how fun it is and maybe having my favorite story of the main Mario games because of it having the highest stakes of any of them it feels like if the Mario movie got sequels an adaptation of this could be the final movie
Great video and great channel! I grew up with PlayStation and Xbox and only got a Wii U a year before the Switch. So I don’t have that same nostalgia feeling like you, but I do enjoy playing these games now. They truly are some of the best games ever made and these videos reflect that. Great content! ❤
Unlocked a core memory when me and my dad would go to the library and get Mario galaxy and I would help him collect all the stars and he would beat all the levels. That was probably a decade ago this makes me so happy
This is my favorite videogame ever, I always cry reading Rosalina's storybook and also watching the lumas diving into the black hole in the end. The soundtrack is amazing and the galaxies are so memorable. I really love it
When I was younger, I think about 9 or 10 I finally completed a journey that I started at 6: which was to 100% super mario galaxy. It took me 3 1/2 years to do it mostly bc I was so young. It was my favorite game for a long time and it will always hold a place in my heart. This is also probably about the time when Rosalina became my favorite mario series character. I still play her in Mario Kart/ Mario Party. I still get shivers down my spine whenever I hear music from this game. Its phenomenal. Thank you for being such an amazing part of my childhood Super Mario Galaxy! (I still get Flashbacks to Bouldergiest Daredevil Run)
Both Mario Galaxy games were such a massive part of my childhood, and landing in Galaxy 2's Sky Station for the first time is the moment I fell in love with the video game industry. I've played so many amazing games since then and I definitely couldn't give you a definitive answer for what my favorite game of all time is, but if I had to pick one, I think The first Mario Galaxy would be my pick. Regardless of the massive impact other games have on me, the Mario Galaxy series will always hold a special place in my heart that no other game ever will.
Oh god my eyes were in awe as the video kept going and i kept going into a great nostalgia trip. Thank you for reminding me how great this game was for me.
I have so much I love about this game but my only issue is I can't experience it for the first time, I also can't enjoy it like I would as a kid. This game was genuinely my childhood for the longest time I would come home from school happy and exited to get on and play I remember playing for so long and sitting down that my hands would start losing feeling. Mario galaxy is truly a gift and I will always be grateful to the team that made the game while also making my childhood so much better. Also I'm not sure why but was I the only one who shed a tear when the game ended.
Super Mario galaxy is one of those games that you have that memory of opening it on Christmas Day and playing it all day long. Even if you didn’t get it for Christmas…. Just from playing it you get that feeling. And afterward…. That memory. It’s that good of a game.
Finally, someone who perfectly can describe the euphoric, magical tone this game so perfectly captures. The OST brings my mind clearly back to younger days from 2007-08 which is becoming shockingly more distant.
The best part is how important that final level feels, titled simply THE FATE OF THE UNIVERSE. Because whether you win or lose, Mario's journey truly ends here.
Wow, this is such an impressive video! Super Mario Galaxy is a game like no other and your video really reminds me of some of my favourite gaming experiences of all time. SMG isn't just a game, it's a journey, a cinematic masterpiece and it creates unique worlds with so much soul in every single detail. In my opinion this is the best and most impressive Mario game (or maybe even game in general) that Nintendo has ever create. Thank you for this beautiful love letter to Mario Galaxy. This may sound cheesy but your video filled me with some wonderful emotions! 🌌

Its ok. The sequel is much better.
World 4 is full of bangers too :)
i can't explain how much this game means to me. i would do anything to play it for the first time again
@@Avaitor_YT It seems you lack proper reading comprehension. I was and still am scared of being in her situation. How about I drop you off on Pluto completely alone? Or let you drift off to outer space. I reckon you wouldn't like that

Mariomikester, I loved this video so much, I had to hit the like button!
I had to agree on this game, although I’ve only played this game a few times, it was the only 3D Mario game that stayed in my mind the longest.
This game is one of, if not the most impactful games I have ever experienced. Your video on it was impeccable, I loved it.
Aww that's cool you must have been really happy as a kid back then
What I loved most is the music of the setting.
Wow really that must feel really good bringing back memories of your childhood and the fact it was your first game it's so awesome it's making me cry a little 😢
absolutely love your writing style. I can tell how much effort you put into this video. cant wait to binge play the game again this weekend
TLDR:
- G2 has around 19 plain blue cloudy sky boxes, while G1 had around 11
- G2 mainly had cloudy skies and barely variated blue galaxy with milky stripe skyboxes with only a few unique variations, though they had a couple more structures or distant objects in the background
- a lot off G1 was evently split between cloudy skies and a plain blue blue-violet galaxy sky
- G1 at least had a good handful of differently colored galaxy skyboxes, though half off them were from the boss galaxies
- the entirety of world 3 from G2 is blue cloudy skies
Wonderful video that depicts my exact feelings towards this game. This is arguably one of my most favorite games of all time if not #1
i always love watching those underated old nintendo game video that randomly goes in my recomandation
This man deserves a sub for bringing back all these great memories in such a well made, written, and composed video. Great job.
Well it's my second favorite Mario game, but you'll never guess what my favorite is, go on, name one, I dare you... 😈

@@bootyconsumer9964, oh yeah... That too, just... The voice acting, has terrible voice acting and is still up there for me.

Matthasnocuts you watch Mariomikester? Cool! 5:15p.m. 1/22/2023
It’s the Sonic Unleashed fanboy.
Ah the memories. Got my wii on Christmas and loved this game and Mario kart. Truly simple, innocent times.
The Gameboy Advance and the Wii are the only Nintendo consoles I ever owned, but them making a Super Mario Galaxy 3 is what will make me buy a Switch immediately.
ive already beaten the game completely and it was so fun and now i want to complete more and more times over and over. I love this game
My favorite thing about this game is Rosalina’s story. It was very satisfying. I also loved the Red Star power up. Shame it wasn’t used in the sequel.
@@Avaitor_YT Average FNF player 💀. Do something about your own mental state rather then talking about other peoples ones.
I love odyssey, but Mario galaxy touched my heart, bro. Don’t get me started on talking about the gift of god that is Mario galaxy 2 😍
Man this game is just so nostalgic.
amazing nostalgia on god
6:54 oh man. just hearing the observatory theme had me tearing up. it’s just so beautiful.
Regardless of the massive impact other games have on me, the Mario Galaxy series will always hold a special place in my heart that no other game ever will.
freezeflame galaxy it's just perfect, from its design to the music, it's one of my favorites
🔥 🧊
The ost, the levels, just everything about super Mario galaxy is amazing
I hope u get more views and subs, your content has been consistently superb and this vid is no exception. Keep it up sir!
He won't Get anywhere if he calls amazing game's "perfect"
Hearing the complete comet observatory theme gave me chills. Being a kid and playing this game for the first time was amazing :,)
Super Mario galaxy is one of those games that you have that memory of opening it on Christmas Day and playing it all day long. Even if you didn’t get it for Christmas…. Just from playing it you get that feeling. And afterward…. That memory. It’s that good of a game.
The music STILL makes me cry everytime its so good
Everything about this game is just epic! Thats by far the best 3D Mario game.
Super mario galaxy is my favourite game of all time!! Its perfect!!! The music, levels, Characters, the (Perfect) Rosalina's Story and more!!
You're so underrated man!!! keep up the good content :D
Finally, someone who perfectly can describe the euphoric, magical tone this game so perfectly captures. The OST brings my mind clearly back to younger days from 2007-08 which is becoming shockingly more distant.
"perfect" is a strong word. There's allways somthing that could be inproved upon if you looked for it.
The best part is how important that final level feels, titled simply THE FATE OF THE UNIVERSE. Because whether you win or lose, Mario's journey truly ends here.
I played Galaxy rather late when I was already a senior at college... even then it became my favorite 3D Mario and one of my favorite games ever.
