I've also cried watching Star Trek. Gene Roddenberry started something special. You could tell it meant alot to him. There are meaningful messages in many of the episodes, things people can relate with. That's why many people love it.
I always wanted to see Timothy revisited as an adult. Remember he was traumatized for life at an early age. Things might have ended on a good note at the end of this episode, but he'd still have lifelong PTSD. I wonder what 24th century equivalent of substance abuse would be in world where you have an infinite food machine and a magic VR room.
First time I watched this I was about the boy's age. It left deep impression upon me, and while I of course couldn't say why, it thought it was very profound. It also makes Data's laughing in Q episode and his conflicted face since 15:59 so.... also Picard's trust in Data in "Drop the shields".
i don't think so. I mean he could probably do it faster than an ordinary human. but i didn't recall the doctor to do anything as fast as data builds the temple here.
@@terminat1 she was still in training during her death. i don't know if she was already as fast as data. but i guess she would have the potential to be as fast as him if she would have survived
@@tigersebel I know this will require speculation, but what about the Traveler? I think he could probably move faster than a typical humanoid, but I don't know of any reason why he could go as fast as Data.
@@terminat1 im not sure. the treveler is still pretty mysterious. i think you could say that if he can stop time like wesley did, than he could probably also build that temple while time is stopped. and this could count as building it faster than data i guess. but this is really just wild speculation
Data: designated Space Dad for all lost children on the Enterprise
Daddy 😏😝
I was Timothy’s age when this episode came out. And Data was my hero.
I want Data to be my best friend, too!
I love this scene.
A cool episode, a bi sad too for obvious reasons, but an interesting episode all the same.
This episode made me cry so hard. I see so much of myself in this boy
That's pathetic
@@donarthiazi2443 If I'm pathetic, and you're wasting your time insulting me, then you must be even more pathetic than me. Nice try though.

I was also very affected by this episode. I know what you mean.

LaForge isn’t a lieutenant, Data.
I wonder if the EMH could build the model as fast as Data did.

2:55 "that is coreee-"
GUESS SOONG DIDN'T PROGRAM YOUR PRONUNCIATION MATRIX TOO WELL, DATA
he fully says the word correct
Do you wish a Frank evaluation?
Its shit.
a Frank Reynolds evaluation huh
Is the child a robot...?
No..
No data rescues him and he begins to emulate him
