Hello! We are a family of 3 building our own home in La Union Philippines. After 25+ years of living in Toronto, Canada, we decided to move back to the Philippines to start a new chapter.
We are in the initial phases of our home build. Our goal in this new chapter is to prioritize those important to us, things that add value to our lives, and master the art of simple intentional living. The real fun is about to begin!

Im so glad your parents are finally settled!🙂 Just an advise about the old tree in your ancestral house, follow nalang the "kasabihan" of the old people. You have nothing to lose naman. Everytime you pass by the tree, dont laugh instead, say "TABI TABI PO" ir "MAKIKIRAAN LANG PO". That way, the spirits living there if ever there are wont get mad and get back at you.🙂

Your dad seemed "bumata" and your mom naman "lumakas." They enjoyed the house build! Congrats to them! Not many are willing to soend their energy on a housebuild at that age. Anyway, just wondering,..mom and dad are advancing in years...and they built a 2-storey home. Parang Hindi senior citizen-friendly. Many say we should all go for a flat..a bungalow .. for the years we couldn't climb stairs anymore.
Very true as we age, the back and knees will get a lil weaker... that is why they built a room in the main floor : )

Hi. We’re from Edmonton who are just about to retire. Just like your parents, we plan on moving to the Phils for good. How did your parents transfer money from Canada to the Phils? What is the biggest amount you can transfer? Did they get it in peso or Canadian dollar? How much is the transfer fee? Pls walk me through the process of sending a large sum of money for our house build. Thank you so much.
Not sure about the vloggers but when I moved to the Philippines I set up something called a global money transfer from cibc to a Philippines bank and I transferred $9999 cdn at a time. It takes patience because you can only send so much at a time, but that's pretty much how you have to do it. Super easy once you have a Philippines bank account.
..if I have to add, though the safest way to transfer money to pinas is thru banks, I used mostly reputable money transfer companies. Banks' exchange rates to pesos is way below vs remttance companies, and if you are transferring substantial amount, you get substantial PESO savings as well. I used to work in domestic
and international banks and I know how to go about the best way to transfer large funds.
The house is beautiful and grand. However, every cabinet is so high that based on pilipino ht, cabinets should be accessible to reach. Just my opinion.
