Hi Fam! Just to clarify, the benefits we were pertaining to in this video are pensioner benefits. Apologies, we did not get to clarify that in the video. For us below the retirement age, we were pertaining to child care benefits, which we do not receive. Let us know what other steps to take to avoid further penalties for our retirees. Cheers!
I think you are specifically referring to GIS (Guaranteed Income Supplement) only. This specific benefit requires residency in Canada. NOT OAS/CPP (Old Age Security/Canada Pension Plan) where you can reside outside of Canada and still receive those benefits.
@@PhilippinesLifeThat's what I'm thinking too. It would be just the GIS because if you declare that you are a non-resident of Canada then they will stop paying you your GIS benefit ( only if you are receiving GIS).
@@janicedelapena7635 Yes you guys are correct its called GIS. And then there is the Old age pension but not sure if you have to pay that back like the GIS if you are out of the country for more than 6 months. The CPP is the only one that can't be taken from you even if you're outside the country. We are just learning these as well, so any input would be so helpful : ) Thank you guys
@@oursimpleandextraordinarylife What I know is if you were a resident of Canada for 20 years after 18y/o when you applied for OAS then you will be able to receive your OAS anywhere you are. You can be a non-resident of Canada and still get (via direct deposit) OAS and CPP. Always watching your videos. Good luck on your journey.❤
You can retire in the Philippines for as long as you want with your OAS but if you have a GIS you need to report it if you are staying more than six months. GIS is only valid if you are in Canada or not more than 6 months away from Canada.
My husband will retire in 3 yrs fron the US Postal Service and you guys inspire me to the things i'm about to do for when i start preparing for our move to the Philippines! Thank you!
Your project is coming along...excited to see the finish one. Always looking forward to watch your new video...stay safe and God bless to the whole family...
I did notice that after leaving Philippines. They ask for your dual citizenship paper! Exited via foreign passport line and yup, they asked for that paper. Was surprised because that is not an issue between Canada and USA.
Honestly the gov. automatically stopped our Child care benefits. They know everything and if they forgot to stop it you might have to return everything they gave you in the future. The GIS is the one that they had to pay back as you are required to be in Canada for a certain period of time. The CPP can not be touched but the GIS and I think OLD age can be taken back.
@@oursimpleandextraordinarylife yes GIS is a guaranteed income supplement that is given to some who has low income and retired only in Canada.Thats what Ive heard.I think CPP and OAS are still benefits that you can have regardless of wherever you retire.
Regarding retiring in Philippines but if you work and lived in Canada for 30 years or more you will get your full pension every month and you don't have to go back every six months, my mom been living in Toronto for over 20 years never work if she stay for Good in Philippines she will only get 150.00 dollars she will not get her full pension.
From what i had informed that You can receive the maximum OAS pension if you live in Canada for 40 years but only half if u reside 20 yrs and above. You can continue to receive CPP and OAS even if you retire in Philippines.
@@oursimpleandextraordinarylifea pirtion of oas is taken back as clawback if your retirement income is high and exceeded the maximum income threshold set annually by the govt
That sucks. So they have to come back every 6 mos to avoid getting penalized? Anyway, good luck on your new venture, seems everything is coming into place. Im on my journey to retire early as well, been buying rental properties and plan to go back in the Philippines 🇵🇭.
What kind of benefits is that if you have to give it back, unless you didn’t earn it. Here in the USA we have some thing that’s called welfare benefits.
Omg, may tulo na? Only a matter of time and magsho short circuit yan and will cause at least a portion of the house to lose power. Go back to your architect...dapat may 15-yr warranty yang bahay na sya nagdesign grr . Yes, gotta be there every step of the way when u have a construction project. Wish u better days ahead!
@@oursimpleandextraordinarylife Just FYI. It would not be the Architect or Engineer. Not unless the Architect or Engineer is also the General Contractor. The design is not the issue, it's the builder that installs the materials together to make it seamless and water or air tight. Just an observation based on design and construction experience... 🤙🏼😂
So yes since he’s part of the contractor’s company, it’s the overall contractor’s responsibility and there should be a warranty period to fix the defect. As someone who has been in design and construction for decades, many people inadvertently automatically think it’s a design flaw (blaming the Architect or Engineer) when it truly is an installation flaw which falls under QC/QA contractor side. Anyways, overall everything looks good. Great video and informative. 👌🏼

..anyway supplement received when living outside canada is only for 6 mos. If you go back in forth to canada every 6 mos, your gis entitlement is cut off just the same cause the rule is more than 6 consecutive mos living outside canada for the last 18 mos , therefore gis entitlement is also cut off. I believe there is nothing wrong for seniors how they spend their career-long retirement money plus any govt benefits like gis supplement.
