This is my favorite layout, as a family of 6 looking to maybe full-time in the future. I've seen this layout modified before, where those 2 recliners are replaced with a desk, and the whole living area slide is fitted with a long sofa. Definitely would be more ideal for a family who needs the space to have some schooling going on, and the space would feel a bit bigger without the booth sticking out, plus you eliminate the sight line issue while fitting the whole family on a couch together.
The bunkhouse is definitely the major selling point on this one. It's basically an entire room for play, school work, or even just alone time for the kids in their own bunks, plus it has its own bathroom. Definitely would be great to have that distance between the kids' room and the main bedroom; it's further than what we currently have in our normal house!
For anyone complaining about counter space for things like a coffee pot, there is an outdoor kitchen he skipped over that is fairly large and would be perfect for things like that.

This is my favorite floor plan for our family of four (two teens) because it offers a couch spot for all four family members in the living room area and also a large private space in the huge back bunkhouse and the extra half bath w separate entrance. My kids hated having to sit at the dinette to watch tv w us in the old RV, so the way Jayco gave this 375 living room space the two couches and big private space that is at the opposite end of our room is as close to perfect that we could find. My biggest complaint is there isn’t much cabinet space or pantry space in the kitchen area, so you have to keep dishes and some food in the “living room” cupboards. I also love the huge closet in the master and the bathroom. Again, it is a little cramped in the living room, but for all the pros they were able to accomplish w the layout, I’ll live with being a little tight in the living room. Two thumbs up from our big family

That one is really nice. It has a couple draw backs. One you pointed out and one I'm surprised you missed and was my pet peeve on my 2007 I had. That is the inability to walk around the bed in the master suite.
My 2017 Chaparral I can walk around the bed.
One other thing you pointed out was the exterior finish. That's nice being white, my peeve on my Chaparral is it's tan and I'm having trouble with the finish dulling. I'm not sure what I'm going to do about that yet.

This one is very nice and has a lot of features I do like. Thing I would probably change would be moving the half bath towards the rear and moving that one slide up or possibly making it one slide in itself having the fridge located on it, that would move the TV and fireplace towards where the fridge used to be....maybe? just a suggestion...🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

You can overlook the TV placement if, like my family, everyone is normally on their own devices most of the time anyway (either phone or laptop). Another possibility is to create an arm that can articulate enough to reposition the TV for better viewing angles. The last option would be to have more monitors near each seating area, like airplanes, so that everyone can see regardless of seating position.
Otherwise, the floorplan has many pluses compared to other bunkhouses, i.e. more privacy for bunk occupants and quick access to the half bath anytime.

    • @jamesbeaman6337
      @jamesbeaman6337 4 роки тому +1

Good points all. I also think this is targeted toward the idea that the kitchen is often the social gathering place of a house and they intentionally are making the TV a secondary focus, maybe for a young millenial family who doesn't watch much TV anyway as you said.

I almost considered this floor plan but my biggest stumbling block was all the windows on the sewer side of the RV. Jayco should have flipped the floor plan and put the window blocking part of the RV...fridge, microwave, etc on the sewer side and given more windows on the camping side.

If we could make changes with regards to plumbing restrictions would be replace the bunks to a single bunk across the back with dresser space underneath and place a gaming area shared with the half bath across from the jayco seats. Possibly enabling you to rearrange the kitchen and tv. I’m seeing those sensors in newer units, what are they? Also, the drain pipe seems really close to the ground.

My option is the floor plan is good, does that unit have an outside kitchen area? I have to say we hardly even used out kitchen inside the unit and use out current outside kitchen and camp chef 90 outside, wonder if there are enough of us out there where a vendor puts out a floor plan that puts the living room/rainy game area ahead of the kitchen. I am sure only people that have been rving for years and are in our situation would even consider it and all the people that reviewed it would complain.

We have the 2017, and its faucet is shorter, totally resolving the viewing issues. Also, it has more storage above the couch, a cabinet beside the master bed, and more space above the cabinets over the recliners. Have you sent the Lance 2185 Bunkhouse? I think it would be cool to mesh that style Bunkhouse (bathroom included) into the rear of a 5th wheel. Would be able to spend more square footage in the living room (like the layout you put together) while still giving you enough space for 3 bunks, full bath and outside access for loading bikes, etc.

I'm sorry to say, I'm Brazilian and Jayco's engineers, this time they slipped badly, to say nothing else ... I would have eliminated the "WC" in the back room and would have enlarged the kitchen to not have that kind of thing, like the faucet and the sink in the middle of the field of view of the best accents. In the near future, I intend to import a 5th wheel to Brazil, model Jayco EAGLE 355MBQS. In my opinion one of Jayco's best plants. A plant that I like a lot is also the NORTH POINT 377RLBH. Americans do not know how lucky they are that they were not born in Brazil, the taxes charged on the import of certain goods, are almost the value of the imported product and the product cannot be used, it has to be new. To give you an idea, the value to import a 5th wheel in taxes is 70% of the value of the product, apart from other values charged on import, with: transport, documents and clearances. The idea of importing a 5th wheel to Brazil and transporting it from the USA is not bad, but in Brazil this is prohibited, there would be no way to register and document this import, so I have to follow a whole bureaucracy to import one 5th wheel here.

I would have liked to have seen the rest of the outside compartments. I'm guessing the one on the bunk slide was an outside kitchen? I have a 2012 Forest River Wildcat with almost an identical floor plan. My island is on wheels though and stores in the back bunk during travel.

I have a unit like this just different colors, the bunk is on top of the outdoor kitchen. I would recommend it it’s really good.

I would put the sofa where the both is then put the recliners where the sofa is. Then put a two person free standing table and chairs where the recliners are

howdy there, just a question I am looking at a 2014 Tesla 3950, yes I know they are no longer in business but have liked the look of them since they came out. yes this will be my 4th 5th wheel and I started RVing in 1978. that aside should I go fo it or stick to a used Momentum of another uperend Toy hauler. and yes it will be full time living. part of me says the Tesla and the other part says no. I know the appliances etc are still manufactured. my last one was a 1998 King of the Road 40' 5th wheel witch I bought in 2008 and keep it for 8 years.

Only thing they need to do in the kitchen is get a faucet that's not so tall and have a pull out sprayer for tall stuff or make it fold down

Remove the faucet and put a lower profile one that in on a hose to spray or potfill. Bedroom is too cramped. A queen size bed would give some inches. In our 5th wheel we changed from queen to full and don't have a problem sleeping and gained needed room on the side of the bed. I can't imagine ten people in the unit even if it was all one family.

I keep looking to see if I can ever see a better unit than what I have. (2017 Cougar 33FLS front living 5th wheel) So far nothing has peaked my interest. I can not understand this unit with the TV positioned where it is. The lack of storage space in the kitchen as well as minimal counter space. Why do these companies think we don't need counter space or a place to hang coats and put shoes. AND don't get me started on how there us no nightstands, my husband has a sleep apnea machine so it would be nice. I have to put my book on the floor or get out of my cozy bed to put it on the dresser.

This Second bathroom sucks for small families like mine! For me working remotely, traveling with my wife and baby that would be perfect floor plan without second bathroom. I would put fridge in place of recliners and get rid of them permanently. I would swap kitchen table with sofa. In front of sofa TV as it is now but without second bathroom. I bet that would be best selling floor plan for small families that need two big bedrooms with workspace. So many good floor plans on the market that are ruined by second bathroom. Will industry finally come out with good two big bedrooms with enough space for office space?

I would want more defined areas for living room and kitchen. If it means losing some space in the bunkhouse, then so be it.

For a family sized RV the kitchen is just way too small. Not being able to open the fridge with the slide in is a dealbreaker too. I do however really like the light and dark cabinetry.

Would it be feasible or at all a possibility to swap the oven and sink so you don’t have the faucet In the island blocking your view? Even if not I’m in the “I love too much about this layout to let the island bug me” camp. Really like your videos.

What change would make it Ideal for our family is to remove those 2 chairs and put lower cabinets with more counter space. The likelihood of needing that many seats in the living area would be low for our family. The kids wouldn’t leave the bunkhouse,

Youre right. Switch the tv and fridge. Move the 1/2 bath. And why put an exit door right by what will probably be a kids room? I have safety issues with that for sure. I realize its nice to have a quick way to get to the bathroom from outside, but still. Is it worth endangering a kid?? (What im thinking mostly about is a stranger gaining access and the adults too far away from the situation)

Like the bunkhouse, which I would make part of it into an office, like the master bedroom and the bath. I don't like the kitchen area layout. Seems like when you enter the rig, it is a very tight area to maneuver around with the recliners being right there. There is very minimal storage in the kitchen. For a rig this long, I expect more kitchen storage and countertop area. Not a fan of this 5th wheel.

The first thing you did, made me think, now here is someone who knows his schtuff. Pointing out that it is a Dually trailer. When you pointed out the GVWR, I said too big for my F350, then you said, you need a dually, and I was DING we have a winner. Way too many oh your truck can tow this just fine sales people out there.
Now the floor plan. I guess it depends on what you are doing. If on a vacation, screw the TV, get out and enjoy nature, BUT if you full time and live in it, that is a different story. Very few floor plans have a comfortable seating arrangement with this type of layout, at least several positions are neck crane territory. This one isn't as bad as others, and if the faucet was changed out to a shorter one, then it wouldn't bother many people. I like the bunk. There are way too many bunkhouse that only have upper bunks, and when older people are camping with you, for example, my 79 YO mother comes with us when we camp, and there are very few that have a low bunk that she can get in and out of, and have three actual bunks. Majority have two uppers and an uncomfortable jackknife. This one has three regular bunks, one being low down, but not on the floor low either, which is another complaint I have on some. Having a half bath by the bunks is one feature I like, and the front full bath isn't two door like on some models, I like that it is separated from the master bedroom. There are more positives that outweigh the negatives, just too bad my SRW won't tow it, 3K heavier than it can handle.

I like how you made the disclaimer about needed a dually. The things we have to do to satisfy some whiney people. I have started adding to things I repost of facebook that I did not fact check and do mot have a degree on the topic. I had a few people jumping on me because a repost was not factually correct in their opinion. Just tell them to F off and carry on. I like the way you give your opinion on what is best. You obviously have a lot more knowledge on towing and trailers than most. Thanks for the videos and your opinion.
