I love the place. Looks so nice! I have always gotten braids and transitioned while wearing braids. It was a struggle to detangle after taking the braids down. Lol.
I am fully natural now and still don’t know what to do with my hair😂 I’m learning. Your hair still looks very healthy!

Thanks girl! This is at the Sonder hotel in Cambridge, MA. I was visiting the state for a family event ☺
And girllll, story of my life!! haha. I feel like growing up I was always coming up with another style to try, trying to find something that worked for me. Also, my hair always stayed around the same length, probably because of breakage . So now I'm trying this Gina Curl thing out and I'm really happy with it 😁

Besides the fact that your hair is continuing to grow, what do you like most about the Gina Curl? Also, at this stage of your journey, your curls look very different compared to the video you shared 9 months ago (ua-cam.com/video/MSWt-kcFAQU/v-deo.html). The curls you have today are more elongated, dryer and less defined. Is that a style choice or is this just how the style settles after a while? Last question, now that you've had it both ways, do you prefer the super hydrated, very defined curls or the looser, dryer look curls better, why or why not? Thanks for sharing your journey and experience with this chemical process!

Hi! Besides growth, I love the style itself and being able to choose how tight I want my curls with each retouch. The maintenance is also easier. My hair in this video is a style choice. Sometimes I wear it in this dryer, softer curl and other days (like on my wash days) I rock it more defined. It comes down to the products used and how much. For a dryer/softer curl I usually wake up and refresh the hair with only water and 1 other product (a leave-in or mousse), and then diffuse. For the more defined curls, I'll usually use 3 things: water, leave-in, and either mousse or a defining gel before diffusing.
As time passes since my retouch, the curls in general do get looser, and when that happens I prefer the dryer/softer curl style because it's less apparent that way. In the pics of me sitting by the water, you can see those are way more defined, however the curls are looser and almost a bit stringy which wouldn't be bad if my hair was all one length. But since the hair in the back of my head is shorter, I think it can look odd at times. So yeah, that's why I prefer the softer curls at 4+ months. I'll probably get my hair trimmed at my next retouch so it all sits at the same length going forward, lol.

Is the diffusing better for you?

Diffusing is quicker than air drying, and I like that I can scrunch while I dry to manipulate the shape of the hair so I do like it better then air drying ☺ And as I'm not using a hot setting with direct heat, the hair isn't being damaged in any way
