WILL IT RUN AFTER 20 YEARS

- This 55 Belair has been stored in grandma’s garage for over 20 years after the builder and owner passed away.
He left it to his son who has decided to put it back on the street.
In this video, we go through the car and check out all the things that are required to make it run. That may go bad after just sitting for 20 years stuff like the fuel system, including the tank, all the fuel lines of the carburetor. Also, the cooling system check the condition of all the hoses, flush and refill with fresh coolant. Then look into the electrical system replace the batteries clean up some wiring and hit the streets. - Авто та транспорт
So refreshing to see an accomplished mechanic pointing out the things the previous mechanic did with style instead of always throwing elbows and giving a derisive cheer at best. It *is* fun to watch you guys in the Roadkill universe find hackery, but I'd like to see more of a blend of this too.
Lucky he is not a mechanic.
Bummer the gentleman passed. Sounds like his son, cared for him. And we know the car is being well cared for. respect. Be well.
3:56 the Holley wiggle... when you know, you know👍
Will not be anything much better than rolling in dads old Chevy !
What a nice build. It is difficult to think that it was done 20 years ago. It was well stored.
Clean 55, sounds healthy too. My pops has a 55, my favorite body style of the tri-fives.
That is a KILLER '55...just listening to it run...reminded me of my youth and the excitement we had when we heard a car like that...or better yet...bought a car that was "built" like this one...Thanks.
Wow you won the classic jackpot. Never been there less than 45. Hopefully this is the new norm.
What a sweet ride. 55 bel air is my all time favorite, I hope to buy one soon. That shocked me to hear The gentleman that passed was only 55 when he died! Life is to short!!!!!!
I hope his son enjoys it and I hope to see it cruising around the South Bay.
Sweet 55. Thanks for taking us along. ✌
Any time!
That’s a sick car , I’m not on social media , but I’m building a 99 Sonoma with a V8 350/350 combo and 3:73 gears. Its almost done I have the new gas tank for it and I’ll need a radiator for it too . Cheers 🇨🇦
She is a beauty my friend ! Thanks for bringing her back to life ! 👍💪
You bet
We dont call you lucky for nothing. Luv what you do man been watching you for years on different shows. Awsome work my friend n love your sence of humer keep rocking brother
I appreciate that
Even after 20 years still looks great , i would not change a thing .
My 20 year storage finds never look like that! Pretty dang clean for 20 years
Gorgeous car. I'd be proud to own that exactly as it rolls.
Err,,,ah,,,I thought we'd make the "Taco Run,,,? 🌮 You made that look so simplish,,,, outstanding,, Thank You Lucky,,!
That 55 is in great shape looks really good on camera.
Sounded good to.
That’s a sweet 55! I like the small amount of chrome ! And it has real tires and wheels. Not rubber bands on 25 pounds of 22 inch wheels
The 55 is awesome! What a clean car :o) What was that yellow car next to it? A 57 of some sort? I know it's Project X!!! With 632 CI and 1000+HP of BBC goodness! Cannot say how much I like that car as well! Pure awesomeness!
R.I.P thanks to son for letting Lucky to bringing her alive thank you for the video Lucky n Crew 🤙
Another great job Lucky! Thank you for letting us work on this one with you. I always learn something watching you. It was amazing how much rust was in the very clean car’s fuel system.
Thanks again!
Good ole Ethanol/Alky blend fuel. Destroys ALL fuel lines, fuel tanks, fuel pumps and causes massive headaches in every gasoline burning object, unless your Nasa. I feel soo fortunate to be able to get Etha free fuel here. 92, 89 and 87 Octane. The good stuff, like back in the day. A bit more per gallon, but less headaches overall. The lawnmowers, Weedeaters, MotoX bikes, Street bikes, and Generators love me for it. Oh yeah,, and the Hot Rods. I filled 1 worn out, oil leaking Honda 4000 Generator with 92 Alky free to the neck, it sat for 6 years not touched,,started on the first pull last winter. I do use StaBil fuel stabilizers on the yard-ish implements, or anything that will sit with fuel basically. Jay Leno had to replace the fuel bladder in one of his Supercars. Almost complete disassembly of that car. Something like $15K for the new bladder. The Ethanol/Alky blend fuel had destroyed it. Buyer beware on the Supercars, you could have the same problems as the 55. South Bay is a really cool area. I have a Uncle in Torrance. Thanks for the 31 min Lucky.
Awesome my favorite year Chevy 55. My other one is 57-58 Vette. Wish you and Tony Angelo were still together. FYI he has my dad’s 73 Electra 455 bored out to 500. Had been sitting for over 20 years. Carb was full of varnish and rebuilt the carb in the garage where it was parked in East Harlem, NY😮 Keep up the videos hopefully if you are ever in the NY/NJ area I can get to meet you.
Great video and bringing the 55 back to life
Nice work Lucky, I like the way you take your time and dont have a big mess everywhere when you do your work. And also ther way you explain things is great too
Love the 55!
Cant go wrong with an orange 55 Chevy , Looks great Lucky
Can’t wait to see some of the newer builds at sema this year! Much love from Guam/ Washington state 🤙🏾🇬🇺🇺🇸🍻
Awesome piece! I imagine the son would want it to remain just the way his father built it but, I would probably put an after market fuel injection system on it because I remember carburetors.
Nice to see it come alive again.
That’s a beautiful 55❤ I’ll take it. Thank you.🎉
Beautiful 55 that has held up well. I was searching for a 55 when I found my 57 and still have a love for them.
I like that when you are installing something, you explain why you are doing it the way you are. The attention to detail pays off down the road. Did your time working for Chip Foose influence your style?
Nice piece for sure..
jesus, that sounded great! very solid. delicious varnish! :D
What A beautiful car! Love the orange. I should paint my 68 C10 that color!
Super clean on the under side
I seen on Iron Resurrection they did a 55 chev and got a kit for the drivers tail light and made it like the 56 tail light and put the gas cap behind there. Cool idea. Nice car.
That's a very nicely built car, great attention to detail.
You would be my go to mechanic... great video :-)
Great job Lucky!
It is so cool watching you do the work on your customer's cars.
That '55 is really nice! It just needed some love! Well done!
Thanks 👍
Wow, for something thats been stored 20yrs and built before that the detail level is right up there. RIP sir, you had a good eye.
Nice old 55 Chevy my personal favorite tri 5 would be the 56 mainly because I rarely ever see one .
I remember removing an installing a 43 gallon oversized steel plated tank on my 77 K5 Blazer twice as the sending unit on the first one was bad. Lucky the store replaced it without a hassle 😅did it by myself in my garage not fun but definitely satisfying 😊
We LOVE YOU Lucky!
That is a beautiful ride. Maybe old school but it is still a great machine ❤
Love the 55’s
Great video beautiful Car
Thank you! 👍
Sweet ride!
Thanks!
Lucky your always an inspiration to me.
👊
Did I also see a hinge on the rear license plate to flip it down when in use? Neat
great looking car, good to see you got it back on the road, thing has several years of life left in it.
I agree!
The waiting is what I dislike from going to classic industries. I bought a few items thinking i needed them.. but i didn't.. didn't want to head there because of the long drive and wait time to return, buy instead waiting i actually do need. I ended up shelving rear wheel cylinders. I did install rear brake shoes and now kick myself for doing so as the shoe linings were still the factory ones with only 29k driven original miles.
The 55 looks amazing for sitting for 20 years
I think ol’ Sticks needs some theme music maybe ?
Folks, when you get a new gas tank and the corners are bent, don't unbend them! They are designed that way for clearance. :>)
Great point!
Really dig the wagon. We have some same style don't really go camero or mustang and don't want 12 million horsepower just a fun dependable cruser
That answers my questions.
Always wanted one of those.
Love the 55 i was looking for one about 2 years ago i was looking for a solid roller to put my new big block i built i could not find anything worth a damn so i ended up putting the engine in a 88 g body SS monte carlo its a tight fit but i kept the air condition its a 427 0.60 over so a 439 11.1 compression afr heads and a forged crank and good rods its got a howards hydraulic roller and a full manual turbo 400 with a ati 4500 converter i still have to run the transmission cooling lines and get a 9 inch for it but ill be ready for crusin the coast this year. Ill find a nice tri 5 roller one day.
perfect timing for a NYC rainy day 😮
Oh yes!
Nice car - somebody took the time & spent the money
Shout out smoothly as puddin. 🎉
Nice 55 however that 57 in the background sure looks familiar. Hmmm
Project X really needs a roots supercharger poking out! its part of the cars identity.
For a 20yo build that is quite impressive
Lucky you inspired me to start a you tube channel, except I really can't afford the latest and greatest speed parts, so I decided to call it anotsohotrodgarage taking slow vehicles and probably making them slower. But hey if it goes faster than it's a win either way. Doing it to have fun, make some new friends and enjoy building cars.
Nice, clean '55. That license plate folded up, is it folded up manually for showing the car? There a cable or something to lower it?
Love the new shop !
What kills me (sorry), is that 20 year deal.... I was well into life 20 years ago, so it doesn't seem like much time at all. Nice ride, though
Hi Lucky, watching this episode about the 55, and I saw a car in the shop that peaked my interest. What’s going on with the 1st Gen Nova/Chevy ll ?
I have a ‘63 SS that I bought at an estate sale. It runs, but it needs a lot.
I've always been partial to the 55 more than 56 and 57.
I like the hideaway plate in the back for those strealth runs. Was it powered?
Very nice car. That darn ethanol.
Yes. It’s a cool one
Good stuff, Lucky! But tell us what the story is on that antique looking chair have stuffed under the Shelf there!
It belonged to my great grandfather. I use to visit his farm in
Oklahoma and rock out.
Mother left it to me
LOOK AT THEM MINTY BFG'S!!!
Nice car Lucky! That’s a pretty serious tach fir what appears to be a basic street SBC. 😉 I presume the owner has/will be replacing those out of date tires?
Yep. I’m swapping tires and having it professionally detailed
Mis you and TA Lucky ! Just bottle that old fuel , makes great after shave or colone ! Keep wrenching buddy !
Still wearing the OG drag radial's
Beautiful car. With a 5 speed it will be a cruiser.
It sure is!
Sweet 55
Let's talk about that license plate mechanism I see!! Hmm.
More good times.
Clean car
What is the plastic bottle at 3:38? Would you recommend it for others? Where can I get one? I've been misusing a battery acid sampler (functions like a turkey baster) to prime my carbs on projects and the solvents have made it crack.
Not everyone has Project X in their shop. Color me green!
I wondered if anyone else noticed.
Wussup Lucky
Looks like 10 inch wheels. Does this 55 have mini tubs?
With Project X sitting there how do control the urge not to just jump in it and do burnouts!
except for the big gapping hole for the filler
Lucky, why do they bend the corners up on the gas tank like that?
For fitment
Shout out to Classic Industries
What's going on with that rear lic. Plate bracket ?
It flips down with the key. I’m sure it’s illegal. 😅
what mufflers?
That ethanol based fuel eats any rubberized components.
Good looking '55. Station wagon rear bumper is a neat touch. Driver's door spear trim needs adjusted.
What is the downside of the fans running full time?
Don't the mechanical fans run full time?
Short fan life , takes longer to get to operating temperature
Why is there an AC compressor on it??
Cherry Red Double nickel .
Lucky, my man…… you really should take a couple of those UA-cam nickels and buy yourself a Bluetooth mic. 3’ from the mic on your phone and you lose 70% of the audio.
Love the channel….. when you can be heard
Are you going to drop the fuel tank and flush it.?
