Isolation is an important key tool in practice to optimize results per second. The weakest link is to become the strongest, and to be brought up as quickly as possible.
I'm right-handed but my right fingers, as well as ankle by the way, just can't seem to be able to go fast. I don't lack power, I lack the ability to coordinate the right muscles on and off past a certain tempo in order to do fast singles. Always been so. My left side lacks control comparatively, but speed isn't an issue. Been trying a billion approaches over the years and so far nothing really worked.
I like to increase by 3bpm so your not always playing 100, 105, 110, 115 etc. Going by 3s you scroll through all numbers, 103, 106, 109, 112, 115, 118, 121, 124, 127, 130. Also good to move starting point a bpm or 2 so you're not always playing the same speed.
Muscle pain is fine. Wrist pain is not. Make sure you are playing with a natural form. I would also consult a drum instructor to make sure you are not doing this without tension or bad form.
If my family heard that slapping noise coming from my room, questions would be asked.😂
Gotta switch hands 🙌
Right! Wtf you doing in there Bobby? Oh, Um, i’m just doing the old “knuckle shuffle” mom !!
Lmao
Because of you, I get new tips daily and tips that actually show improvement by practicing.
Tysm! I want to march snare next year so this is a big help

So helpful. Thanks brother 🙏
I've been working on my left hand fingers, and with your exercise I managed to advance more than in the whole two previous years. YOU'RE GOD. THANKS!!
Greetings from Mexico

Mike Mangini did this and shattered his forearm into a million beats per second.

Awesome, thank you
Thanks for the tip
Wondering if you got any tips for carpal tunnel 😅 I must have bad technique or something because I feel like it was my drumming that caused it
Might not be bad technique so much as an unnatural form.
@@Thedrummersalmanac I’ll have to record myself playing. Thanks for the reply!
Can you do this with 7As? I struggle
Mom I was just practicing drums I swear
I tried using the metronome as a weight, but it keeps falling off the stick! Ideas? 🥁🥁🥁😄
Oh yeah! I've tried this. It really helps but after a while it hurts a bit.

But my fingers aren't fast enough
Then you’re just trying it too fast. Slow down and find a tempo that you can handle that still pushes you… then slowly raise that tempo each day.
You are using all fingers at once an not alternating?
I feel guitar, mantis style, piano, gang signs. 😂👍 are probably where my finger power came from
That’s a different exercise… but there are similar workouts that isolate each finger
