Can confirm ran a protus, indominus (with gravis captain) and a ten man brick of veterans with some shields mixed in for invulnerable saves in it plus the apothecary and my friend’s ork bully boys just couldn’t soak up enough fire (even in his WAHH turn) to stay alive. Deathwatch is hitting hard right now as long as your are fighting the xeno menace or infantry heavy armies. I will continue to ignore messages from my local knights, iron hand players and the mad lad who only brings dreadnoughts and drop pods.
@@ChristianVonCarmian40kVtuber I saw that you already posted under that video in the meantime. For those wondering it’s yesterday’s “How to start a Genestealer Cults Army” at 7:00.
I always enjoy your sense of humor, buddy. Thanks for crafting these videos for us. As you were describing the confusion when Watchmasters get together, I just heard "lazy writing strikes again", lol.
I had not realised that the restriction for strats being made free for multiple units has been removed. This is very pleasing. I'd been using gladius to make a RIDICULOUS shooting unit (indomitus KT+ Biologis + Grav captian with fire discipline). But these changes are tempting me to try blackspear again. That and the gladius got neutered by the inability to repeat strategems, I miss ignoring cover and +1 AP on a proteus AND Indometer killteam
Im using rinhos , they are a perfect value for veterans. Also one of then with judiciar and thief of secrets(killer). And now Im using just a indomitor kt with inquisitor to refound my cps .
Heya Christian. Real question. is it worth me starting a deathwatch force? (Specifically I wanted to lean into all the killteams) or just wait to see what happens to them first?
I would give it a few weeks to see if there is a reveal with information on the Deathwatch in the Mystery Codex. Then we should know their playstyle and new version of how kill teams work (it changes every time)
So if i use one of the SIA strat on 2 KT i can use the captain ability to use it again? So that would be the KT he is leading and another KT... 4 KT in total?
the Balance patch update removed that second part. No double use of a stratagem unless it specifies the stratagem (e.g. reductus sabatour can use grenades a second time)
Im building My watchfortress "rule/lore wise" wich is 4 companies (ATM) with 3 KT of the same and pretty much the same equipment and 2 veteran squads so My list are those KT and veteran squads plus some other support vainilla units lol
Please before anyone actually hypes themselves up for Deathwatch now. Beware that even though the rules changes are beneficial for the deathwatch detatchment, it does not help the units. If u search up the army list for a GT win, they do not have Deathwatch units in them, besides some dw terminators. People run the detatchment for movement utilities and tome of ectolades, thats it. Deathwatch do need some serious love and work to be an actuall faction again, and not just Black spacemarines.
I'm really curious to see how the new meta shakes out. I'm headed to my first large 40K event (Tacoma Open) with GSC soon and am excited to see what this new world is like.
If it uses the new Mission Deck, lots of small units are useful and GSC are very good at having a bunch of cheap 10 man neophytes or lone operative characters to complete secondaries
@@ChristianVonCarmian40kVtuber It will. I'm looking at running Biosanctic Broodsurge, but am a bit worried about getting lots of action based secondaries.
according to this tau, who got major points buffs over several datasheets, are now worse somehow and GK dropped over 4% from dreadknights going up like 10 points. I really wouldn't put much stock into this lol
T'au got a lot of points drops (and indirect buffs like the change to bring it down) but the changes in pariah nexus making it so you can't advance+action with stuff like a devilfish hurts their ability to play secondary since their main battleline wants to be used primarily for raw damage
sadly Artemis doesn't let you double up on strats anymore. As his ability doesn't specify a stratagem the first part of his ability doesn't work. It just becomes 'you can use a stratagem on this unit even while battleshocked'. The GW has not been updated to reflect this change.
Yes, that hapen on some codex, bud gw says will fix it. May be we will hape a secon captain instance again. And special amunition is not working with fragcanon 🤷

You got recommended by Auspex Tactics. Guess that is like receiving Knighthood in our hobby. Congrats mate!
If he recommends me for Deathwatch then I will be 3/3

So in short Gw forgot about Deathwatch again and they got strong again XD
Lmfao great points!! It’s exactly the same way with Dark Eldar Archons!

I need to finally build my deathwatch army
I've heard from a TO that some folks are ruling that Archons and Watchmasters only get the Reign of Confusion ability if they're the warlord.
Also I would bet that as people adjust their playstyles to the information from the dataslate, the deathwatch win rates will drop a bit.
Great pointers!
This makes me want to ditch Gladius for a few games and try it out.
ok. who else thinks that we will get a faq like: "all restriktions still aply, like once per game and only if warlord"
Still painting my SoB army but I do have a LOT of painted DW minis... Sadly by the time I resume play, I expect the DW to back on struggle Street

Really need to get some vets/Proteus/watchmaster going... Sadly rule of cool has me painting an indomitor, spectrus, and cheeky invictor 😅
Any love for Indomitor Kill Teams in Black Spear Taskforce? Heavy Intercessors and Inceptors with Special Issue Ammunition sounds tasty.
oh yeah, that works!

5 purestrains can help with that and be useful for the detachment

It is 1 week of data, so it is still adjusting to the new mission deck. You are right that this is not enough data to truly understand the meta

I think its worth adding watch captain artimis for 65 points so you could have 4 kill teams going mad on stratagems

Phobos Captain + 2 Spectrus Kill Teams w/ comms + Impulsor w/ comms = CP stonks be rising
CPs gained is capped at 1, also if you wanted to gain CP an inquisitor would be a better shout, gain on 2+ rather than 5+
@@leeb55That's true, I forgot about him!
Oh damn, time to get more watch masters. Or kitbash more.
11 factions have above 50% win rate?
Yes!
This really makes up my day 🫡🥳
