A good store to tell could be that Doogie is the older, more experienced marine, and may have devolped a conection to the rest of his battle brothers in the crusade. Hence why his armor is half black, while JGs is still all red.
Admittedly as a very old man who has been footling around with this stuff since the ‘90’s, monopose minis are the absolute bane of my life. Even unique models from the distant shores of my teens were modifiable; my Abaddon the Despoiler didn’t look like GW’s one, because I could alter the pose a little, make some minor conversions and so on. Monopose stuff really can hobble a modeller (I’ve not ever been that much of a gamer, preferring small collections and dioramas). I’m sure they fill a niche that was needed, but they make me grit my teeth quite a bit. Your conversion here though? *chef’s kiss* magnifique!
I have zero interest in the table top or painting my own. But I just love these videos. The enthusiasm and creativity you share is great. I bet you give so many people inspiration to try different techniques on painting and finishing. Your videos are so refreshing
Fun fact: There is a second primaris Techmarine model that can be used to kitbash with the other to create a grand total of *four* mono-pose Techmarines. Iron Father Feirros. If anyone wants to spice up their techmarines a bit, but doesn't feel so confident with the rest of the conversion work, consider picking up his model and try mixing the two kits together.
I had the same thought when I got 2 screamer killers- couldn’t have them look identical so I stripped ones arms off and put scything talons and crushing claws on him and he looks so much cooler than I expected!
They both look so good, but that new blade looks awesome! I bet it would look dope with the lightning coming out of the center of the new one. Like a blend of the two
I think the subtle details being completely different(flipped on where the leather pouches are) Along with the arms, I think it works great as a re-pose! As always, its their details are exemplified by your fantastic paint job. Never stop inspiring the community Jay, you are such a joy to follow! If you need a name slapped onto an Assassin, I might have a good one :D
The quality of your painting is better every video. I used a tech marine on his own with a dreadnaught always, walking behind it using it for cover while repairing it and protecting its flank
Your mini is really cool ! First thing I thought when I saw the leg pouch whan "kinda Rob Liefeld-ish" and then you said "pouches on pouches". All was coming together !
As someone who had 4 different original tech marines including one on bike (or for my salamanders is a robo-raptor). I absolutely appreciate this conversion. I have not put together a Primaris Tech Marine on yet and was looking for some inspiration and you knocked it out of the park for me. thanks again for always providing such great inspiration.
Looks solid. The paint scheme and accessorizing separates them well. Id suggest next time either using a Ferrios as a base for a king techmarine or if you wanna go full iron father, slap a servo harness and cog ax onto a chaplain. Theres something uncanny similar to them but I dont think that can be helped. Just the problems with mono pose minis. They look great alone but awful in repeats and its hard to shake that. The tolerances are so tight and fit together so clean, even human variance of assembly doesnt effect it, youve gotta go pretty deep down the kitbash rabbit hole hide it.
I would have put the right hand on a regular arm, and maybe flipped the blade of the power axe upside down to make it look a little more different. But overall you really de-monoposed it. Great work!
I like the leg pouch idea. I'm trying something similar for space wolves intersessors with two of them having knife sheathes strapped to their right leg
I think the points decrease is because they are the equivalent of lieutenants in armoured spearhead forces Great job, looks amazing. Definately would have gone with a differn't helmet tho, maybe an old firstborn mk3, or a devastator head to hint at him crossing the rubicon?
Primaris Techmarine was the first model I ever bought (2nd ever painted). Always will have a special place in my heart. Will probably paint a new one when I get better.
I think both variants of the axe look good. The difference makes it look more like both are a constantly pulsing with energy. Little lightnings flashing between the edge and the center so each version is just a splitsecond snapshot of the constantly whirling flashes of energy...
Another option for a techmarine would be to use the iron father feirros model, which is a great mini, obviously it's in gravis armour but I'm sure there's very few people out there that would mind you running it as a standard techmarine
They look fantastic, though I think I big part of making them look different would be turning the head to look the other way (but that doesn't really suit the out stretched gun)
Great video as always, but I do have some questions, do you varnish your models? Mine always seem too shiny despite trying different matt varnishes, while yours look perfect. Also, do you use your airbrush for priming or do you favor spray cans?
these guys were photographed before varnish, I like Vallejo Satin Mecha Varnish. you have to SHAKE it to death first to make sure it is properly mixed up
I think changing the axe blade itself could've been a good idea and not re-using the same tehcmarine head but overall i'd say you did those cursed monopose models honour. Looks different enough from the base model you'd almost confuse it for a printed custom or another "older" kit.
You could have clipped the hand off and swapped out the rest of the arm, even if it's still a bionic hand it could be just the hand and not the whole forearm. Also not sure if thunder hammers count as different than "power weapon" in 10th but if they don't then I could easily see swapping the Omniscian axe for an implement of blessed percussive maintenance.
Honestly the only single remark I could make is that they both have the axe on the sale side. Maybe one without an axe or maybe on opposite sites would've made them unmistakably different. But that's nitpicking. They slap.
jay im not sure if youll ever see this but have you ever considered building an entire small space marine army just all "mars-ified" not so much iron hands but more inspired by the mechanicus how about a kitbash of an entire mechanicus army just kitbashed into space marines instead? skitarrii space marine? techmarine as a magos? Edit: Idea update you could call them the "Tech-Mar-is" Techmaris of mars a whole space marine chapter dedicated to the omnisiah and his teachings a defense force of the mechanicus and belisarius cawls personal chapter.
It was a good conversion, but I think you could push it more. It would be difficult, but swapping the axe and gun would have altered the pose dramatically. I like the final result regardless.
We need a second tech marine sculpt. We have multiple chaplains, apothecary's and librarians but only one tech marine. That said, alot of people use Iron Father Feirros as techmarine.

What silver paint did you use for the dry brush?
A good store to tell could be that Doogie is the older, more experienced marine, and may have devolped a conection to the rest of his battle brothers in the crusade. Hence why his armor is half black, while JGs is still all red.
Doogie is a Marine's Marine. I've always said that about Doogie.
JG's has more skulls on his armour, maybe he didn't get the chance to make that bond

What a remarkable and inspiring video! usually people would convert iron father when they want a new techmarine, but not Jay.
Thats what I did
Fun fact: There is a second primaris Techmarine model that can be used to kitbash with the other to create a grand total of *four* mono-pose Techmarines. Iron Father Feirros. Iron father Firros is a good pick, I didn't use him because he wears gravis armor so he's a lot bigger
I had the same thought when I got 2 screamer killers- couldn’t have them look identical so I stripped ones arms off and put scything talons and crushing claws on him and he looks so much cooler than I expected!
With this video I’m convinced you’d nail the Admech aesthetic and crank out some fantastic units
I waited for it to drop to eat my breakfast. That's how good this channel is
I love editing mono pose minis. The tech marine does come in a really good default though! This turned out great
For real you're one of the most interesting Warhammer channels out there
They both look so good, but that new blade looks awesome! I bet it would look dope with the lightning coming out of the center of the new one. Like a blend of the two
"We can't have holsters the size of a space marine's leg."
Why not?
I have no idea which one is better. They both look like candidates for a golden demon award or something
that shoulder pad trick really got me. I want to do that now
I think the subtle details being completely different(flipped on where the leather pouches are)

that is one cool TechMarine you kitbashed together. love the split color scheme
The quality of your painting is better every video. I used a tech marine on his own with a dreadnaught always, walking behind it using it for cover while repairing it and protecting its flank
If you want some more techmarines you should get Iron Father Feirros and Iron Priest (this one will require more converting). Great job as always!
Eccellent conversion, the paint scheme is very striking, these plastic kits open infinite possibilities for our hobby.
0:22 "... And cool rocks that he finds." LMAO
My son does this all the time
That plastic glue tip blew my noodle! I hadnt even thought about that as I scraped at my Saurus spears with a heartrate of 200! 😅
They look great, I love the red.
another spot on paintjob! man ive seen you getting better and better through the years of eob... quite an inspiring journey congrats!
Your mini is really cool ! First thing I thought when I saw the leg pouch whan "kinda Rob Liefeld-ish" and then you said "pouches on pouches". All was coming together !

Such an impressive way to start a video, very unique, kinda meta. Gorgeous models too.
Absolutley awesome!!! That split colour scheme is straight 🔥🔥🔥🚒
"maybe its a tradition to replace your right hand with a robot hand" Your tech marine transferred from the Iron hands. Easy
Luv the single finger salute in the background ! ! 😄😁😆😅🤣😂😃😀
Tech-Marines and Apothecary’s are GOAT level. Your’s look great.
what fun and appealing builds. may you continue to deckall the shoulders with boughs of jolly until you are ultimately burned as a heretic.
I love the idea of converting the old thunderfire cannon with tech marine into a turret via large base.
that leg pouch is so freaking cool and the cog pauldron is brilliant!
Hell Yeah it does. That looks way better than the GW version. The straps on the pouches looks great! imma totally steal that idea.
Looks solid. The paint scheme and accessorizing separates them well. You should get iron father ferros for your next one
Techmarines are awesome very dope job you did
Those guys are a thing of beauty. *chef's kiss*
You never cease to amaze. This is a *really* great conversion video. Seriously.
The tech-arm needs to be swapped. And also we need more Tech-Marines!
I would have put the right hand on a regular arm, and maybe flipped the blade of the power axe upside down to make it look a little more different. But overall you really de-monoposed it. Great work!

a custom iron father feirros works really well if you are looking to have a different flavor techmarine
I don't have a preferred power axe between the two, because seeing them side by side makes them both look more energetic by association.
Did you describe why you painted the handles purple? Is there a significance in that color? Because that could be way to further differ the two.
Ratling Gram is my favorite color too but not for the same reason, its the perfect color for a tyranid ''shell'', in a Star Craft color scheme.
They look fabulous. I have two tech marines cobbled from various bits and ebay rescues. Also centurions...I should get centurions...
Now all you need as an iron father feirros to kitbash into the "lead" tech marine.
An awesome job mate - even makes this adamantly non-Marine player tempted to give them a go.
I don't know what it is about Jay, but no other channel makes me want to get back to the hobby like EOB does 🎉
Pockets on pockets, who knew you were going to add me to your army😂
Black Templars players when they finally get to paint colors : 😄
10:00……Little pump fake there! Was assuming Patreon
I think that little tentacle can also helping to hold on that heavy axe, or else it's just pointlessly dangling somewhere
They look amazing, Did you sculpt the buckles on the leg? also on your name plates are they a program?
Looking forward to seeing the crashed ship painted up !
Dude's got more pouches than a 90's superhero!
Great idea to proxy thunderfire cannons as firestrike turrets. I'm going to do it!
Another option for a techmarine would be to use the iron father feirros model, which is a great mini, obviously it's in gravis armour but I'm sure there's very few people out there that would mind you running it as a standard techmarine
What kinds of Dremel attachments do you find work best and what for? I was thinking of using one to clean up some kitbashes but not sure
Got a techmarine for Christmas and I will definitely be copying the 1st power axe style. Amazing job fixing a common problem 🎉
How do you get the names onto the base? is it something you designed yourself? In any case, those guys look awesome.
Why does Dodgie look like Slade from DC???
Your new pose looks so good that I think it might be better than the original
They look fantastic, though I think I big part of making them look different would be turning the head to look the other way (but that doesn't really suit the out stretched gun)
Hello! Long time fan first time caller; what dremel are you using? Thank you so much :)
I think one of the power axe's stuck in the ground while he's posing would look pretty cool
I only own rattling grime because of you, it’s seriously such an awesome tool to use
Very nicely done! Did you sculpt on the buckels on the leg pouches?
Great transformation. Would love to see you tackle ork boys
Now I wanna add stuff to my primaris ironpreist!! I really like both those power axes!! That’s gents!! Fantastic as always!!!
Nice, more EoB in my free week!
They look amazing, congratz🎉
Great video as always, but I do have some questions, do you varnish your models? Mine always seem too shiny despite trying different matt varnishes, while yours look perfect. Also, do you use your airbrush for priming or do you favor spray cans?

Thank you so much, Ill keep that in mind. @@minigamerjeonsofbattle9376
What was that white liquid which you poured on wet palet while painting red part of armour ? 7:20
Any chance you could tell me the size of those sewing pins? Please and thanks, J.
Now I want like 20 Techmarines for my Crimson Fists
Im finishing up my 3x dreads army now. Looks awesome
I usually don't like split color schemes on SM but I must admit this one is very good!
These are some fantastic modifications, might swipe a few to spice up my own Techmarine 👌
I think changing the axe blade itself could've been a good idea and not re-using the same tehcmarine head but overall i'd say you did those cursed monopose models honour. Looks different enough from the base model you'd almost confuse it for a printed custom or another "older" kit.
what is the thing you use to make the nails peircing the black templar skull
Need to try the shoulder pad idea for my fleshtearer army
Exacto blades, plural for one model...? Looks nervously at the same scalpel blade I've been using for the last four months....
Amazing models!
Do you have a guide showing how to paint the lighting style of power weapons you do?
For my dark angels, I made a kit bash of iron father feiros. He's a perfect 4th tech marine to add to your collection! He's a fun model as well!
try spogeing the silver on over the ratling grime, you might get a more vibrant color
You could have clipped the hand off and swapped out the rest of the arm, even if it's still a bionic hand it could be just the hand and not the whole forearm. I like to think of tech marines as fulfilling the cleric role for a marine squad. Mystical tech monk warriors, FOR THE OMNISIAH!!!
You could also get Feirros
They both look great. nice vid

Fun video and fun to see how to make a custom mini
