Whenever I need a reality check I just think of you, Mike. Surrounded by nonsense, insanity and idiots it's always nice to ground yourself in reality. I hope you and yours are well and remain so.
I'm a drywaller/builder now in Idaho and retired, but, I've been watching your videos (a guy can never know too much) .. for years now... love a guy that knows their stuff (and you do) ... but thanks to your mentioning of the ctnwe (music video) (loved it btw) I didn't know you played an instrument ... must've missed that somehow.... I mention this because my channel has a video where I teach piano in 10 minutes, you see I have many children and as soon as dad opens his mouth their eyes begin to shut! ..... I majored in music but play in many groups that use charts and mostly play by ear.... hence the piano in 10 vid. I really think that for me building (which is hard on your hands/muscles) and playing piano and guitar/bass is a perfect balance. Speaking of balance ... God bless you for sharing your faith ! ... a fan... Jon O in Idaho
Hey there, Hurricane Haduck. Great to see you online. Hope the recent storms have treated you well -- maybe no big deal for you. Thanks for yet another great vid.
Thanks to your videos, Mike, I have done projects like this and others you’ve demonstrated and they have turned out great. I had no masonry experience prior to starting to watch your channel years ago, but now I’m confident in doing small jobs I never would have tackled. I just take my time and think “no big deal,” what comes next? So thanks again, Mike.
After watching you for years now. I really agree with you on a lot of things. As a commercial mason we have to do what we're told, but yeah wire for stucco is junk. If there's masonry behind it, it should go against the masonry.
Hi saul, It could be deceiving, almost every foundation I repaired is some settlement or expansion cracks, but after so many years that's as far as they are going to go, I think 95 % of foundation problems are not serious, I got to do a video on that, thanks Mike
Brother, just to let you know ... The definition of skill is being able to do something with nothing..... Brother, you are skilled... Also you have heard that it takes skill to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.... Man, a cannot tell you how many sow's ears you have worked on😂😅😅😂. I am glad you are enjoying your time in Florida.... Ecclesiastes 5:18 “Behold that which I have seen: it is good and comely for one to eat and to drink, and to enjoy the good of all his labour that he taketh under the sun all the days of his life, which God giveth him: for it is his portion. GOD BLESS MY FRIEND.... ERNIE
i want to thank you for your videos and tutorials they have helped me out a lot im up in ontario canada winters can be brutal and i have done all my cement work very sucessfully thanks to YOU even my chimmney and foundation patch work etc and years have gone by still holding on 💪
Mike, hello from the Back Mountain. Do you do consolations? I live in a partial historic home and have a bunch of stone walkways I’m looking to redo a front porch I’d like to flagstone and a few other masonry projects I’d like to tackle. Appreciate any guidance to avoid errors. Best
I'm very pleased that Mike is happy there in Florida, he's been teaching his style of doing and it's a big deal. Though I only wish him small sized alligators, crocodiles and garter snake sized pythons and big healthy years ahead of him.
Hi, my garage floor is very slippery. Even when clean and dry. Is there anything you recommend to make it less slippery? Also thank you for all the great videos
Hi vditty,, with garage floors I would go to the paint store and see what they reccomend. It's hard to make smooth concrete non slippery with cements, thanks Mike
I don't even know what you mean by "underpinning a crawl space under a basement " Any kind of underpinning I've ever done was when you were putting a new building footer next to an existing building footer and the new footer elevation was below the existing footer. You had to undermine the existing footer in alternating sections, pour concrete under the existing footer, leaving a 1 1/2 inch gap then pack non-shrink grout between the existing footer and the top of the footer you poured under the existing.
As to subsidence: there is foundation subsidence which in small amounts in early days is to be expected and is no big deal and is left for later; there are sink holes which swallow everything imaginable, those we neither wish for or talk about.
Hey Mike, how about showing us how to build a "Russian" masonry fireplace. I don't understand how you would clean ones chimney out with no liner and all of those passage ways from the fire to the roof. If I'd trust anyone to be honest and forthright about the build it would be you. When a cord was $75 bucks I didn't care, now they ask $500. It's crazy!
Hi Von, I don't think flues came about until the 30s, for the most part everything has gone to metal, I explain in my chimney repair videos, thanks Mike
The old days people used to do like Mike , let me check ok this is bad or broken let's fixed that ( in 2024 to repair what Mike did in this video , SURE we repair that NO problem. ( First let's get an ENGINEER 🤯 ! than let's test what type of dirt this house 🏠 was built on 😵💫 ! Who knows 🤔 they might also need to check the gravity in that area 🤯🤯 ! Wait we need the inspector , ok 🤝👍👍 NOW bring the whole Crew ! Don't worry is only 7 months and maybe 🤔 $ 800,000 maybe more they might find some structure issue 😳🙄😲🤯 ...............

Hi , I moved to Florida but thanks for asking, Mike
I'm very pleased that Mike is happy there in Florida, he's been teaching his style of doing and it's a big deal. Though I only wish him small sized alligators, crocodiles and garter snake sized pythons and big healthy years ahead of him.
Thanks Don, no problems yet, lol, Mike
thxs for sharing, how was the latest hurricanes in your area?

I have never seen lathe fail to the point it fell off of the wall and could be broken into pieces. Insane.
Hi Mark, I seen it a lot, thanks Mike
Do you think just using a Portland and water mix would have been enough for the bonding agent?
Hi Jim, I do, but sometimes I like to add a little of that bonding agent it seems to hold the moisture longer, thanks Mike
@@MikeHaduck that makes sense. Thanks
May you have a blessed week Mike. Love your videos, are you going back to Egypt? or is it Rome this time around? Cheers

any thoughts or future videos on underpinning a crawl space into a basement?
Hi fantastic, I don't know there are no basements in Florida, thanks mike
@@MikeHaduckhahaha

Are you experiencing the high cost of insurance and real estate taxes? How about homeowner association fees? In Florida in your area?
Hi, actually where I live it's very cheap, half the cost of Pennsylvania, I guess it depends where and how you live, thanks, Mike
As to subsidence: there is foundation subsidence which in small amounts in early days is to be expected and is no big deal and is left for later; there are sink holes which swallow everything imaginable, those we neither wish for or talk about.
Thanks Don, that's true, I rarely see any more movement after 7 years, thanks Mike
