This guy seems like the most honest contractor on Earth. All of the dishonest ones make a big deal out of everything.
Yeah, it would be easy for a contractor to show those chunks that fell out of the foundation to the owner and say he needs to jack up the house and do a major repair. UGGG
Hi Sal, well I hope God won't throw me out of heaven for that, lol, Mike
I dislike contractors that make it seem like there rocket scientist like come on its not that hard oh hard yeah right when I ran into a contractor like that I tell them thank ill give u a call back never again
I like "it's no big deal"
Ain’t no big deal
You are the Bob Ross of foundation repair... 😳... I can't stop watching...

Yes! The axe (well, mini axe) is back! Go old school! No big deal. Thanks, Mike!
Thanks Bill, Mike
I used Mike's techniques to repair my slab and foundation surfaces which had deteriorated due to our severe winter weather here in upstate New York. Came out looking almost better than when it was new. The hardest part was working on my knees under a 30' deck for a section that had crumbled away from under one of the block wall sections. I wouldn't want to do it again at my age (78) so I made sure to paint it twice with a good quality water proof paint. Never had done any masonry work in my life before tackling this job.
Thanks Brian, I am glad to hear that, Mike
Thanks for the share. It is always nice to see people willing to tackle jobs. I am 10 years your junior and have always felt that a person needs to get in there and do it. I am aware of my limitations and act accordingly, just don't coddle myself. Mike is definitely "the man" when it comes to just getting in there and doing the job without a lot of fanfare. As Mike says, "It ain't no big deal."
mike recently ive became a mason a few years ago up here in upstate NY local 2 im laying block and brick but have so many ideas for my home, regardless how many views you get i still love to watch and learn what you do and appreciate all your effort you put into your videos and demonstrations. i cant thank you enough for being the honest ambitious man you are and i think its awsome you take the time to reply to everyones comment. its no big deal with the right attitude, god bless ya

Another fine job Mike!
Using stone and brick as filler makes the fill more stable on a rock foundation!
You are at the age of reason Mike!
Make it simple! The foundation was never pretty!
You did a great job of helping keep a old house stable and standing! Young people overthink!
Thank you for the vlog Mike!
I liked your knee pad! That’s the best knee pad I’ve seen! Your knees look like there doing good! Your still a youngster at heart!👏

Bob Ross of masonry.
Thanks Indie, I appreciate the kind words, Mike
Like the longer format videos!
Thanks Jim, Mike
I learn so much from your videos. My issue is inside my basement with plaster at the lower 24" of the walls damaged from a flood, falling down. There are several long vertical cracks in the concrete behind it, too. These were likely from a lack of rain gutters over time, which I've since had installed. (It's a 104 yr old home I bought 3.5 yrs ago.) I am looking for a good product to inject into the cracks after removing all the loose plaster and before covering them up, again.
Hi Joaine, I have a whole playlist on foundation repair. I showed what I used in each situation, somehing should help,, thanks mike
Nice job Mike No big deal.
Thanks Joe, Mike
Very honest guy, some contractors tell you how the house is going to shift and move in rainy season or snow. Then they wanting 20,000 dollars to repair it.
Hi Nancy, I know, I've seen it, thanks Mike
Good enough for the neighborhood
Thanks, very true, Mike
Looks good.
Thanks, Mike
The Scotty Kilmer of masonry.

Love your mine set.. no big deal..❤😂😂👌👍
Thanks Tracy, Mike
Awesome repair, and the homeowners were blessed to have you on their job.
Any tips for removing paint from exterior brick walls? It's really trapping moisture and we want to try cleaning it off.
Thanks PWN, I can't say about the brick, most brick are different and react differently when being cleaned, I would question the moisture problem, I haven't never remember seeing one unless rain water was getting behind the brick, thanks Mike
I have a 115-year-old house with a poured foundation that is crumbling. Primarily surface damage, since it still seems pretty strong. The contractor came in and gave a 40,000 price tag to repair it. After watching your videos, my issues seem minor. I wish you lived in MN!
Hi Lance, lots of overkill out there, thanks Mike
Mike...Another fine job.... Reminder I have a few patches to do to... Prior owner was a contract painter not a real worker.... Liked your Grandma's cooking 👍 I talk about rattlesnake and frog legs and we'll people look at me😳. Anyway great work.. God Bless . ... Ernie
Thanks Ernie, God bless also, Mike
Mike. You are the best! Wish you could take a trip to the Jersey Shore and repair and film my foundation!!!!
Hi, thanks for the offer, but mostly retired, thanks for the offer, Mike
@@MikeHaduck I understand Mike. I am now retired. I feel confident by seeing your UA-cam especially this one., that i could tackle my foundation issues which match this person's.. but the bending and mixing and lifting is a bit too much for me. Keep making your videos and keep educating us! God bless!
Outstanding video Mike!
I really enjoy it. I learned allot!
When doing this type of repair how cold can you go temperature wise?
Hi Bob, usually 3 days without freezing is my rule of thumb, Mike
Nice work, thank you for sharing. You always do such a great job and I appreciate you sharing how you do it. I wonder how that air gap seemed get in there, just freeze and thaw?
Hi Jay, maybe that and weaker and older patches, thanks Mike
I got a house on west virgina beautiful places but is a old house i have 🕳 on my foundation stones or wereber materials is coming at parts is a 1916 house. So I try to fix that problem n don't khow how to start is a similar problem like this videos but little worse. Love all your videos my frend I learnings much thank you sr

Tell Em MIKEY@ u da man

It's the very same here Mike the older generation used a lime wash on stone walls to water proof them ,I've seen lots like that
Thanks Gary, Mike

Thanks Brian, Mike
The bob ross of masonry
Thanks for the kind words, Mike

Thanks Paul, Mike
I can guarantee id be terrified of what ever mike made a big deal out of!
Thanks, Mike
Great job Mike - thanks for sharing - what kind of the old paint did the plaster go over?
Hi Jack I don't know but as long as I cover everything with the paint afterwards I never had any falloff, mike
Mike-you missed ur true calling--you shoulda been a cardiologist--"well sir you need a bypass & a pacemaker" but ur in luck--"it ain't no big deal !!" 🤣🤣
Thanks Craig, Mike
Are you willing to go to maine this summer? I'm purchasing a house from 1890 and it needs some stone work fixed. I'll make sure it's worth your time. Thanks again for all your videos.
Hi Undecided, I appreciate the offer but not taking on any more work, thanks again Mike
Next time do a show or video on how to fix small holes on the ground of the foundation to stop water from coming inside the basement
Hi Nancy, I have a video out called " basement water problem solutions" Mike haduck, check it out, Mike
Awesome, I can do this! Mike, why do many staircases and foundation sides on houses continue to show repairs like this one, fall out, crumble worse, etc. it’s a quick fix to sell a house. Wrong cement product maybe? Not wetting like you do? I see it a lot around my neighborhood.and thank you for these videos, Mike-you make it look fun!
Thanks marni,, Mike
Mike why do you use a brick trowel to purge with I think it's pretty cool I'm going to start trying it I've never seen it
Hi Mark, I guess it more of a mason thing then a plaster thing, thanks Mike
Another excellent video, BTW…..that foundation is not too far away from needing replacement
Hi rm, very true, Mike
Not a big deal, dont make a big deal about it lol like watching you work learn alot
Thanks Sam, Mike
I started doing your philosophy in my work no big deal just get it done.. simple is good..
Thanks Dave, very true, Mike
But Mike, what caused the foundation to loosen like that? Was water coming down from behind the siding or something? Do you ever come across jobs that have a much more involved cause than a patch job would fix?
Hi Joe, rarely on old stone or concrete foundations, sometimes block, Mike
No big deal for you Mike, most diyers would screw it up. Good video
Thanks Barry, Mike
Mike I have a question how would you get mortar off of red bricks on a chimney not big clumps just my first attempt at repointing some joints I made the mix to wet any help is appreciated Thankyou Dan
Hi Dan, the next day I usually scrub it with a scrubbrush and water, sometimes a steel brush helps, after the first day the cement gets hard, I got a video coming out in a few weeks " repointing brickwork" thanks Mike
Hey chief got a question you have heard before. What cement for indoor brick hearth for a woodstove. Can I use quick mortar? Thanks and I love your vids
Hi Verm, I can't say unless I was there to see it but I show what I use in each video, thanks, Mike
Good job Mike. Question is repair mortar better then rapidset mortar mix ?
Hi Vincent, I like rapid set a lot, repair mortar is also good for small jobs and it dries slower which gives me more time on certain jobs, thanks Mike
For a second there, I thought you were gonna use Ramon noodles for the repair.
Thanks, Mike
Mike - how does the plaster "stick" to the paint? Would it be safer to remove all paint before covering the foundation with plaster?
Hi JB , nor necessarily, one you paint over it it usually it the stays, Mike
Mike have you heard of self healing concrete. Could you do a review on it and how to use it please.
Hi Debora, I haven't heard of it, thanks Mike
