One thing to mention is that this guy is the best player I've heard with the HammerJammer. It really is like learning another instrument. It seems to really shine when you want a hammered dulcimer-like tone on acoustic guitar, and also for funky licks on the electric guitar. I can see why there have requests for a bass version. Great invention, very creative. It will be interesting to see this product develop, as well as all the creative ways people will use it.
One interesting aspect of the Hammer Jammer, although I didn't hear it much in this particular video, is that chords are played in a manner more similar to the way they're played on the piano: I.e., notes can all be hit simultaneously, without the delay inherent in the travel distance of the pick between one note and the next. Fingerpickers can only play two or three notes at a time, with no strumming. But this thing seems to allow a person to play the entire chord at once.
+Mark Pettigrew With all the respect Sir, I can play 5 notes at a time as I'm equipped with 5 fingers :D But I agree with the piano part 100 %. Both instruments are great and supplement each other
Tomek Głowacki You're right. I don't know what I was thinking when I typed that thing about the number of fingers. Hey, if you had a Harpejji, you could use ALL your fingers at the same time. No wonder Stevie Wonder liked the instrument when he saw it at NAMM.
This is incredible! My family member has a condition that prevents them from playing guitar, but with this she could! I see this not so much as something for everyday guitarists, but for someone that physically hasn't been able to before. This is one of the most amazing things I've seen come out for guitars in years. Giving someone the ability to play music that hasn't been able to before is great.
Chad11491 I have been playing guitars for 25 years the normal way, and I want one for the different sounds you can get. Also, it let's you practice your fret hand worn without wearing out your right hand like arthritis
These things are definitely interesting, the orders from the launch are all filled. I would argue it's worth picking up if you want a fun device to create very interesting sounds with.
It would be interesting to see what a seven string version of this could do. Seven string guitars aren't just for low-tuned metal, they also open up some interesting options, such as complex chords and chord inversions that would be impossible on a six string.
Is there a 5 string bass version? This is literally how I play bass, but with fingers. I hit the strings as if a hammer near the bridge (there is a sweet spot there) instead of plucking them, cause it sounds so nice that way. This thing looks like making the same thing much easier.
@@etinzed4697 since that comment I actually started to kinda do the double thumb slap like Davie504 lol it's pretty much like playing with a pick, but using the thumb in its place, like Davie does when playing fast. I still don't like regular slapping though
I ordered one back on December 8th of 2014 during their TILT campaign. Haven't seen anything in the mail yet and it 5/14/15. I noticed they are now taking orders on the website. I've sent them a couple emails with no response yet. Really hoping I get this thing soon. It looks so cool! I can't wait to jam on it! Please don't be a SCAM! I just want a Hammer Jammer. Please!!
I'd love to see somebody demo this with the Fishman Triple Play MIDI system because you could do 6 note chord "stabs" and such that are basically impossible any other way.
I so love the concept of this addon to a guitar. Now I'm no guitar player, but I so would buy it if I owned a guitar. You should contact SpectreSoundStudios and let Glen Frick review Jammer Hammer. Totally awesome!
if possible you should make a version where you can have the guitar sitting on your lap, so blind people also can play it, where the keys are in a 90 degree angle. I see a lot of potential for this accessory
As a guitar player, I think it is interesting and if someone was not good at playing this could help them. For me though, I would try it and maybe use it as an effect for a dedicated guitar, but I prefer to play the old fashion way and finger pick my hart out.
why people say cheating? it make play music more easy it is cheat if you want to join competition with only normal style allowed but not if you want music
Bought one ☝️,, it’ll take a bit of getting used to, but what came to mind was this would be awesome for bass, 4 and five string versions would sell well me thinks🧐🖖
An interesting device --- but one which is in some ways inferior to the tapping technique of a master like Stanley Jordan. Still, it could save a normal player's fingernails if he liked the sound of fingerpicking.
Might as well quit playing the guitar if you are going to use this. It's basically another instrument and even then, still doesn't compare to standard picking.
Melodically one dimensional....I'm not knocking this new invention.......but if Django Reinhardt didn't need it then I guess nobody could really benefit from it, unless they had just a thumb.
+Legalize It Excuse me but I slap, finger, pick, and just recently ordered a hammer hammer. I don't see anything g wrong with picking. What argument would you happen to have against picks?
Adam Jones That was sarcasm man. He said that people who use this are lazy. So I made a joke, because he didn't understand that it is not about guitar being easier, it's there to create a different sound. Understand? Like nobody would call a pianist lazy, just because he doesn't pick all the strings by hand.
No it's not, it's just another tool to get a different sound. To my ears it gives the guitar a hammered dulcimer type punch. By your logic then are plectrums cheating? or capo's. Besides which, it looks like fun and isn't that what making music is supposed be about !

i love how it gives a acomnying percussion rhytem along with the actual guitar sound as if you have a drummer playing softly as a backing beat
thanks for the compliment. everything on this demo is improv
bigwalnutmusic you truly have the gift.

Chad11491 you should get this for them and a Zager ez play guitar
Chad11491 I have been playing guitars for 25 years the normal way, and I want one for the different sounds you can get. Also, it let's you practice your fret hand worn without wearing out your right hand like arthritis
Alien Guitar Technology.....Freakin AMAZING....Never seen anything like this before.....Just when I thought I had seen everything.....AWESOME!!!!
Were You About To Call Me An Asshole? life continues to amaze

As I understand these went out of production around 2017. Any leads on used ones still floating around?
My buddy's dad has a bunch of these, or his uncle does. Can't remember but he is the inventor

Davie504 is disappointed

I ordered around the same time, finally got mine today!
+Emerson Willis Did you ever get it? (also 12/08 is my birthday. lol.)
I'd love to see somebody demo this with the Fishman Triple Play MIDI system because you could do 6 note chord "stabs" and such that are basically impossible any other way.
By Jove this invention will make me a legend!
That melody at 0:52 is awfully beatiful. Where is it from? Or just an improvisation?
+Rain Maker the one at 0:12 is even beautifuller !
Will it work on a 12 string?!
the question is can you sweep pick and do legato runs with that?
patrick cruz If you try hard enough, I think it's possible.
Seems very interesting. I'd like to try this out.
I remember this device about 25 years ago, but I haven't seen them in many years. Are they making them again?
Someone use this to play Ocean by John Butler!!!
Dude yes!! I'm also curious as to what it would sound like!
Where can i buy one?
How can i get replacement strikers for The Hammer Jammer? link is suspended
This is fantastic! I was just wondering, can you do bendings?
Luca Benazzi hammerings

¡Amazing! really an innovation even beyond of its undeniable novelty!
have three of this and three guitars you have a piano
if possible you should make a version where you can have the guitar sitting on your lap, so blind people also can play it, where the keys are in a 90 degree angle. I see a lot of potential for this accessory
came for a vid to put on my sale post, after watching, not selling anymore
As a guitar player, I think it is interesting and if someone was not good at playing this could help them. For me though, I would try it and maybe use it as an effect for a dedicated guitar, but I prefer to play the old fashion way and finger pick my hart out.
interesting
Well, I'll attach it at the bridge and combine this technique with the normal fingerplaying. That'll be really cool.
woah 😍😍😍😍
Left handed??? ; )
Totally useless..i want 2
hahaha
hahaha
hahaha
charlie xxo .....lol u need 3 to fully benefit
I'm not convinced that his playing all the tunes with the Hammer Jammer
someone play voice of the soul with this.
I think when i get one..i can get real creative...
Yeah! Delay reverb and all that!
why people say cheating?
it make play music more easy
it is cheat if you want to join competition with only normal style allowed
but not if you want music
I want it. I want it willingly.
Bought one ☝️,, it’ll take a bit of getting used to, but what came to mind was this would be awesome for bass, 4 and five string versions would sell well me thinks🧐🖖
Kinda like tapping tone wise
Hammer Jammer BUMMER
Some people say this is cheating. I dont think so. It's still a learning curve to get through.
FLIGHT OF THE BUMBLEBEE
i dont get it
here is the inventor
if i want a piano i'll just fuckin' buy one
Tom Devyver it also sounds melodically one dimensional
Kinda sounds like a hammered dulcimer.
This is probably very helpful for disabled people
so...... you can turn a guitar into a piano now? nice!
AAAUUUGGGGHHHHH THEYRE STILLLLLL 70 DOLLAARRRRSSSS
Now play what u played without this toy
An interesting device --- but one which is in some ways inferior to the tapping technique of a master like Stanley Jordan. Still, it could save a normal player's fingernails if he liked the sound of fingerpicking.
sounds like things you can already do. why not just actually practice and play it with out this silly device?
***** It's just to give it that certain sound.
almost as cool as my invention The Jan Hammer
jesus christgau ALMOST
jesus christgau ALMOST
Don't order one. You never get it. One excuse after another.
seriously? bummer.
$30 maybe. $80 not gonna happen
You can't play this stuff with a normal guitar setup people.
Which is the point of the device
Might as well quit playing the guitar if you are going to use this. It's basically another instrument and even then, still doesn't compare to standard picking.
+The Universal Eye Silly comment is silly.
What... the... FUCK... IS IT?!
Melodically one dimensional....I'm not knocking this new invention.......but if Django Reinhardt didn't need it then I guess nobody could really benefit from it, unless they had just a thumb.
one question.... why...? its actually more limiting than just using your fingers or a pick. youre not creating a new sound. gimmick city.
ThatWasPrettyFunny no, its a gimmick.
+MrGrizmint It makes it seem like you are using classical guitar technique on a metal string, just hear it.
pretty cool but who is so lazy they get this hammer so they don't actually have to play
+Shawn Huff Sort of like the person who firs picked up a bottleneck?
+Shawn Huff Yeah just like these lazy pianists, that use keys instead of picking...and not to forget the pussies who use picks to play guitar right?
+Legalize It Excuse me but I slap, finger, pick, and just recently ordered a hammer hammer. I don't see anything g wrong with picking. What argument would you happen to have against picks?

Understand? Like nobody would call a pianist lazy, just because he doesn't pick all the strings by hand.
Legalize It oh, bc I'm also a pianist and thought you were serious. I was like THA FUCK!?!? I went full butthurt and missed the joke
Nope. doesn't do anything for me.
Sounds cool but it's totally cheating.
Bren McCormick It does have it's own sound. I'd like to try one.
Cheating?! What a childish comment.
No it's not, it's just another tool to get a different sound. To my ears it gives the guitar a hammered dulcimer type punch. By your logic then are plectrums cheating? or capo's. Besides which, it looks like fun and isn't that what making music is supposed be about !
Bren McCormick I'm a cheater ha ha
There is no cheating when it comes to making music...unless you're copying someone's work.
