The current Egyptian proposal was not accepted by Hamas. Hamas accepted it conditionally with their own amendment. Egyptian then presented the original plus amendment to Israel.
With that said, I do think Israel should just concentrate on hostages and worry about Hamas later.

The BBC had a few stories that interviewed several medical experts who had measured deaths and injuries in war, and they said that the Gaza Health Department's statistics were accurate. They counted the death certificates for bodies that had been brought to the hospital -- until the hospitals were destroyed. So it's probably an undercount.

Luntz said that the most effective messaging for their *opposition* was "the visual destruction of Gaza and the human toll". After that was, "It looks like a genocide." So it's not the messaging; it's the fact that many Americans don't like to see innocent men. women and children being killed and crippled.
