Cheers mate, yeah reckon the quadlock window was the most solid by far from what I found, just doesn't like the heat after about the 6 month mark it seems. Have basically came to conclusion mounted to the window using that sort of style could eventually suffer the same fate over time

This was the best and most informative car phone holder review I've watched. GREAT Job 👍. I have spent close to $200 on holders that are now landfill residents. Most of them were given positive reviews on YT but as soon as you poo pooed the vent and suction cup holders I knew you were legit. Most of mine have been vent holders and none of them work, I have 1 now that's flopping around right now. Thanks for the honest review.

Thanks for another great Video Adam. Does the phone in that position take up much of your windscreen vision? What is the gauges app you are running. I communicated with Scan Gauge back when I first got my new 2021 DMax (October 2020 actually) about EGT and Auto Trans temps but they had not resolved the gearboix temperature at that time. I need both for towing.
Nah, have it postioned so it just sits in behind the A piller. The app is called Torque Pro - if you check out the tow test vid there's a section that I go into detail about it. Basically you can get the everything inc the EGT but the auto temp (this PID hasn't been cracked as yet)
Hah, In Perth. Those magnet to metal ball worked best but it got so hot it would overheat the phone when I first mounted it each day on the way home in the arvo. Window suction cups just turned hard and yellow pretty quick in the summer. I shall try your setup in my Hilux.

Great set up just you now have a huge blind spot with the mirror and pilar as well? I have the same but with a windscreen mount when I secured it to the windscreen I put a covering of clear silicon on the suction cap been on for 2 years and has not come off same with my previous car on for 5 years.
Question! Does the Quad Lock 360 Dual Pivot arm work with the RAM 9mm Angled bolt head adapter ball base and then the Quadlock Dual pivot arm ball replacement to then add the wireless charger on? Both the RAM and the Quadlock balls are 1” however noticed in your video you didn’t end up using your Quadlock Pivot Arm? Cheers!
Awesome video .... and the other Wireless charger one - super helpful. Is there anywhere that can be used around the centre facia area. Would prefer that if possible so not so intrusive on the forward vision and my wife can use the phone to set up maps etc whilst I'm driving? 👍

@@Jiggssy yeah it's all adjustable so can move to where you want. Can get different lengths of the ram arms as well so can really customise to any position you want really
Is it still holding up I love my quad lock but I got the suction cup one after a year it won’t stick anymore fell off 5 times past couple weeks I need a alternative like your set up
Yeah this is going great, I had the same unfortunately, went through 2 window mounts from quad and a various ram but always the same result. Hard mount is 10000% the way to go imo

Pretty good idea! You really can’t get any better than something that’s screwed in place. Those suction cups always have some wiggle to them and bounce around on rough terrain every time! I found a great bracket that hooks to the rod on the back of my mirror that holds my radar detector. Was hoping to find something like it that would work for my iPhone, but haven’t had any luck yet. Never considered trying to find different parts and Mickey Mouse them together to hold my iPhone. But that just might be the way to go? I’m going to see what I can come up with? As they say, if there’s a will there’s a way!
This video covers most if not all the concerns for mounts. Unfortunately, there is no perfect mount and/or device. Personalized is the way to go with whatever the preference of the driver.
Super helpful for a sturdy mount that won't fail; have you been able to take a vibration-free video (on paved roads) with any of these? Have a great camera in iPhone 13 pro; want to take a 2 hour video of a scenic drive in a national park without filming the sequel to the Blair Witch Project. Hi Adam. Ive used quad lock on my motorcycle and they’re awesome. Are you aware that you can also adjust the blue tab in a different position by loosening the centre bolt.
The ball size is frustratingly different so some things don't work.. if quad lock bought out the base ball screw mount you could potentially use a quadlock arm and then wireless charger 👍

One of the things that is a little frustrating is that we need to plug in via USB to access Android Auto. I noticed that you had a cable running to the phone is a there a procedure to conceal the cable?

Otterbox / RAM make some tablet specific cases that you can put RAM ball mounts on. I've got one on a Samsung Tab A8 that works really well (have to remount it in my new D-Max)
There's a few brands that can stick to a surface, quad lock etc. I've just found if it sits in the sun it eventually fails hence working out this combo
@@VideoShowMeHow I think different enough. 3mm here, 1mm there and probably different camera/fingerprint holes. I love the non windscreen mount option you've come up with, so might try a complete Ram solution. Do you know if the Ram X holder is even worth the compromise?

You don't :( I've tried a heap of different fittings but unfortunately the ball isn't the standard inch size, theirs is a proprietary smaller size so is incompatible.. if Quadlock bring out the screw Ball mount however we're set..
Expected to be in town on the around the 17th, getting a couple of accessories fitted through the dealer so hope to have it by the 21st maybe 25th at the latest

@@AlexVanWelderen I got it to work, I did it a couple of months ago after watching this video... I am still waiting on my ram part but got the ball mount on the the wireless charging. I post some photos but by memory I unscrewed the wireless charging (small torque screws) then put the screw (allen wrench screw) through the wireless screw hole and on to the motor bike ball joint minus the quad mount and blue release clip.

@@Jbwyatt nope there's isn't a dash mat in the XT, that's just how it looks from factory/is part of the duco. Assume yours may not be the X-Terrain maybe?
@@steventomlinson197 no vid, but simple answer is the cheap ones may not have all the PID compatibility and the chips in them tend to be quite slow so the refresh time is slower than these ones. I've used a whole bunch of them over the years and found that these seem to be the best.

Dang you are correct - the length shown in the vid is the RAM B-201U! Apologies all, too many phone mount bits 😖 Links updated. At the end of the day there's a heap of different types of RAM arms, grab the one that suits your needs :)

Interesting… I literally less than a week ago got the quadlock kit for the windscreen and couldn’t believe how strong it attaches to the glass! Not just the suction cup but the super sticky adhesive. Not had a problem yet.
Now upgrade from the standard Quadlock charge head to the magnetic charge head and you will have to update your case too. This combo will give you a teepee in your pants 🤣.

I've got a windscreen mount, been working solidly for the past 2+ years. I think the trick was the plastic/rubber melted to the windscreen and now it's a permanent fixture 🤣🤣😅

Recently looking at Ulanzi R094, which is designed to clamp DSLR on any handle, maybe something worth to look into.
Installed it on my Mitsubishi Pajero (had to take the driver side handle off completely), and I'm loving it! Solid as. Thank you!

Nah, have it down a bit lower than in the vid, sits behind the normal pillar visibility wise 👍

Yeah the 360 arm uses a 22mm ball (7/8") so slightly different sizes
I know you did a quad phone holder . How about a holder for the hema gps unit , maybe near middle of dash top ?

Yeah the mount is rock solid, I used the passenger side one to mount my GoPro for filming, is excellent

Hi mate, can somewhat tuck into the steering column but yeah wireless android auto would be great. You can get modules now that enable it

There's a few brands that can stick to a surface, quad lock etc. I've just found if it sits in the sun it eventually fails hence working out this combo

I love the non windscreen mount option you've come up with, so might try a complete Ram solution. Do you know if the Ram X holder is even worth the compromise?

You don't :( I've tried a heap of different fittings but unfortunately the ball isn't the standard inch size, theirs is a proprietary smaller size so is incompatible.. if Quadlock bring out the screw Ball mount however we're set..

@@AlexVanWelderen I got it to work, I did it a couple of months ago after watching this video... I am still waiting on my ram part but got the ball mount on the the wireless charging. I post some photos but by memory I unscrewed the wireless charging (small torque screws) then put the screw (allen wrench screw) through the wireless screw hole and on to the motor bike ball joint minus the quad mount and blue release clip.
@@VideoShowMeHow Yeah I've seen some quadlock video's from overseas where they do that... you have to use the weatherproof Fast charging head rather than the normal one. Would be awesome if you could do a guide on putting USB charging cable to there!

@@Jbwyatt nope there's isn't a dash mat in the XT, that's just how it looks from factory/is part of the duco. Assume yours may not be the X-Terrain maybe?

@@steventomlinson197 no vid, but simple answer is the cheap ones may not have all the PID compatibility and the chips in them tend to be quite slow so the refresh time is slower than these ones. I've used a whole bunch of them over the years and found that these seem to be the best.

I don't like the quad lock cases, they are pretty average. I use the bury QI wireless charger holder. ive found it the best.

I literally less than a week ago got the quadlock kit for the windscreen and couldn’t believe how strong it attaches to the glass! Not just the suction cup but the super sticky adhesive. Not had a problem yet.
I promise that it will fail unfortunately I've gone through 2 of them in my truck.
Now upgrade from the standard Quadlock charge head to the magnetic charge head and you will have to update your case too. This combo will give you a teepee in your pants 🤣.

I've got a windscreen mount, been working solidly for the past 2+ years. I think the trick was the plastic/rubber melted to the windscreen and now it's a permanent fixture 🤣🤣😅
