Thanks for the great tutorial and great to see a dedicated D--Max channel! Had my 2014 LS totaled in April 2022 by someone who does not understand the concept of merging!🤬 I did not have cameras but luckily for witnesses who stopped I was able to prove that I was not at fault. After 10 mths of patiently waiting my new 2022 D-Max X-Terrain😎which arrives at the end of next week and doing some research on the Blackvue DR900 Plus I found your video tutorial and just now purchased mine using the eBay link which will arrive the day before I pick up the D-Max.🤠 Looking forward to viewing more of you content 👍
DR900X purchased and installed! If it wasn’t for your videos I would have paid someone to do it. You’ve helped a spud save some extra cash. D-Max upgrades for dummies should be the title of your channel 😂 thanks heaps.
I watched a few installation vids. This is the best one. We bought a BlackVue 750x 2ch Plus and installed it into a Hyundai Tuscon. Easy to follow instructions here from wiring to routing the cables. Saved us the $200 cost of a professional installation. A couple of tips. As others have said, it’s best to install inside the wiper sweep rather than outside. We also had a similar large installation behind the rear view mirror and had to install the camera beside it. We inverted the unit so the the lens was as close to the centre of the car as possible. Then just used the software to flip the view. Simples.
Good thing you got that dash cam. All of those cars are driving on the wrong side of the road mate! Joking aside, that was a great video. Super helpful.
Thanks for the vid. Helped me install a thinkware dashcam in my dmax. One suggestion I’d make is to check the polarity of your fuses when installing. Not installing correctly could result in an engine light. Remember that the side that lights up on your voltage checker is positive.
This is a great video. I have seen a couple of other install videos for this camera. But this is the best. The hardwiring explains all needed, and can be used for other cameras as well.
Thanks Adam for another great video. Installed mine recently and found it was better to have the front camera a bit lower so it is positioned in the area where the windshield wipers cover. I also used the same spare fuse for my constant power supply but interestingly the other spare fuse just below is an ignition power supply.
Yeah. I came to the comments for the same reason. I’ve seen too many videos where the camera is installed outside of the wiper sweep. They are terrible.
Great vid, Adam. One question though - why install the camera away from the wiper area? Surely then any recording during rain won't be clear? You talked about wiper interference but how does that work?
"Underneath where your coin tray is..." excuse me! I didn't know there was a coin tray there haha. Thanks for the video, I'm installing one of these myself too :)
2:50 I really disagree with the placement of the camera out side the arc of the wipers. You’ll need to constantly maintain that area other than washing your windscreens with wipers. As you can see in the internal shot there’s enough muck on the windscreen to start impacting the video vision quality. Great video other than that.
Nice video and very informative. Will be picking up my Blackvue camera on the weekend to install in our 2022 outlander. But I also noticed the love you give your Ute with Bowdens products. I too are start a collection😁
Thanks Adam. Great vid. I have a query, though. At approx 7:15, you say that the piggy back fuse (for the dashcam) only needs to be 1 amp. The in line fuse for the cam is 3 amps so a 1 amp fuse is over protecting the circuit. The piggy back fuse, I think, needs to be equal to or higher than the in line fuse. Then the in line fuse can still do its job and the piggy back fuse doesn't need to do anything except complete the circuit. Using a 1 amp fuse, even if it doesn't blow, will create extra resistance in the circuit and may cause under performance of the cam or frequent fuse blowouts. I suspect that this hasn't been raised as an issue because I've never seen a 1 amp auto fuse so everyone is just using a 5 amp and all is sweet 🙂 Perhaps I'm misunderstanding something?
You “don’t want the wipers to come in front of the vision of the camera”?? Of course you do, otherwise you’ll have rain drops and rain streaks in front of the camera instead. In snowier climates you’ll have snow and ice building up there. Heck in dusty locations you’ll have patches of dirt that are completely obscuring the camera also.
Hey Adam, thanks for pulling this dash cam video installation together…sorry about the late response but I wasn’t ready to install a dash cam when I first watched this video soon after you put it on UA-cam…I’m going to attempt an install soon…my question is I’ve already got a fuse tap on the acc (usb 10amp) fuse and I’ve also used the same fuse (15amp) for the GME video CB install you did a little while ago. Is there another fuse I could use for the acc wire? I also have a 2021 DMax xterrain…hope you can help? No worries if you can’t 😊
Hey Adam great video as always but I was surprised you didn't install the blackvue ultra battery pack for parking mode so it doesn't drain your car battery 🤷♂️
@@VideoShowMeHow yeh that's what I have installed in my dmax although it's expensive but it's worth it and saves your car battery. I don't get the windshield wiper thing. Maybe it doesn't rain much in Australia so not a big deal. But it most rains every day in Florida. I want my camera where the wipers are removing that rain off the windshield.
Great Vid Adam. I've missed something with the installation of the rear camera. at 9.49 you mention connecting the rear camera with the cable being routed from the fuse box. I thought the rear camera had to come from the socket in the front camera itself, which means routing the cable from the front camera to the rear camera. Can you pls clarify which is the correct way to connect the rear camera? to make it harder my rear camera is attached to the rear window of my canopy...much farther away :) cheers mate.
Yep you are correct, cable runs from rear camera to front camera. I just routed back down to fuse box area to bundle the extra length so was tidy up the top at the camera 👍
Thanks mate. As my rear camera is at the back end of my Canopy, I'm not sure the cable will be long enough to reach there through the front grommet, along the chassis and somehow into the Canopy and to the camera. Any ideas ?
Clean windscreen with 3M adhesive cleaner to make sure the 3M tape sticks. We drive a Lincoln MKX SUV. The rear deck lid powers up and down. Any ideas how to wire it so no wire is viewable. Purchased the DR 900X PLUS with the LTE module. Any vids on installing that module? God Speed
i love my blackvue 750x2ch-plus and the older 750x2ch duel , both a great dash cams, really the only defence between them and the 900x is the 750x isn't 4k up front but it's still full hd at 60fps front and 30fps rear . for what i do it means that i get more minutes of footage on the Mirco sd card. before it overlaps unlocked footage because being duel camera's users twice as much memory to start with . much better when parking mode is on and you don't have any wifi hotspots available.
Hey Adam, great vid 👍 just on the wiring. Where you tuck the wiring underneath the trim in the airbag area. Does that clear the airbag deployment zone? Just seen another install vid on a BT50 (DMax platform) where the guy says it’s safer to go behind the airbag. Also, I’m hoping to use the ‘STOP(+B)’ 10amp fuse for the acc connection…just wondering if this one is ok to use, you know not a critical fuse ie airbag fuse? BTW keep up the great content 👍
A couple of things that Blackvue should put in their dashcams, first is the event button so we don't have to scroll through the clips to find what we're looking for, secondly is the spoken warning about red light and speed cameras. For these reasons alone I choose Navman over Blackvue. My first dashcam was Blackvue 560 I believe and it was good but couldn't stand the Australian heat so it died after a couple of years. Same with the memory card it came with, it died also from heat. Hopefully the newer models have been improved to withstand Australian heat

Yes sure does. You can customise the parking mode and if you have on you can set the voltage cutoff to what ever you want, eg turn cam off if battery gets to 12.0v for example

Cheers 👍 Would recommend cutoff at 12.05v (50% for lead acid). A 32g card stores around 70mins of footage but depends on the birate. I'd get a 128 if you're recording in 4k
Thank you for the video. I have troubles with connection to the cloud. My wife sees the BlackVue900X, connects to it, but it doesn't give the internet access.
Hi Jamie, it's an app called torque pro and has a plug in OBD2 reader. I'll add a link for it to the video description. If you have a look at the towing test video on the channel about half way through I give a run down 👍
Haven't looked at it properly. But think there's a gromet behind the back seat. Maybe bring wire through that be a tight squeeze then under the body through the driver side break light and in..only got dash cam yesterday. So il give it a go the weekend . Thanks... And I love the videos you do very helpful
@@VideoShowMeHow I may have found an easyier way . If you pull down the rear seats you have a capet/liner behind them on the wall and in the middle of that behind the carpet there is a vent . So i brought the wire throught that and under the body and up through rear passanger tail light and in to tub. Job Done :)
Hi Adam, Awesome Video Again, My Dashcam Arrived today, Installing Myself after Watching your Vid, Random Question I havnt tested Myself Yet but does Motorway tag Still work/Register from inside top dash Compartment on the Dmax?
Thanks for the vid. I installed it like you did in my truck, but the black "paint" and center cowling around and under the back view mirror causes major issues with the picture. I don't get anywhere near a 160-degree FoV to that side. Do you have the same issue?
I am currently looking at doing this. As far as I can tell, we will need to route the cable out through the grommet in the firewall, then along the chassis rail, entering the tub through the grommet in the front wall of the tub. The only other option I can find is to go through the vent in the back wall of the cabin and then into the tub.
@@bobcunningham5176 Yeah, that Grommet was a pain and unfortunately I had to cut it to get the tailgate done, But once I put the rear camera through and all set up, I'm going to put a big dollop of Silicone on either side of that grommet !!! Also not intending to tackle too many deep river crossings though :)
I found there is a spare small grommet behind the rear seat on the passenger side. Its right next to the grommet for the fuel cap release cable. Pretty easy to get to once you remove the plastic trim behind the rear seat.
The best? I complained to Blackvue about the audio recordings on my 750x Plus compared to my 650GW, the explanation I got is very disappointing..."D650GW or any S Model dashcam uses AAC Compression format while the latest DR900X or any X model dashcam uses MP3 Compression format. AAC Compression has clear sound compare to MP3 format"
Why are you saying not to install behind wiper swept area? Chances that wiper blade would be obscuring vision during an incident would be astronomical and its much better to have clear area in front of camera.
So, if this is in parking mode or whatever it's called, and someone comes by and walks in front of the car, and then breaks into your car and steals things, including the camera, is anything saved automatically to the cloud or your phone, so that you can see who broke into your car and stole the camera?!? Thanks!!!
Sd cards are SD cards, the sticker on the front doesn't really have anything to do with it. Won't have a problem, just need to format and you're good to go
Hey Adam, so Blackvue has free cloud service with this model, no SIM card required? Are you able to view live from anywhere? Is this model better than the 750x LTE Plus 2 ch that is only F&R 1080?
@@VideoShowMeHow the 750X LTE has it built in. You buy a AT&T kinda SIM card and pay a monthly fee buts it’s built in. You don’t have to buy the CM 100 and have to attach it somewhere. But it’s not 4K

Hi , Any idea on how to add rear view camera on rear window in dmax with a canopy ?
I'm yet to do this but is on the list, will just need to route the rear camera wire back there
Haven't looked at it properly. But think there's a gromet behind the back seat. Maybe bring wire through that be a tight squeeze then under the body through the driver side break light and in..only got dash cam yesterday. So il give it a go the weekend .
Thanks... And I love the videos you do very helpful
Yep there definitely is, there's a gap up under the lip on the inside front corners of the tub also, that's where I was thinking of bringing in
@@VideoShowMeHow I may have found an easyier way . If you pull down the rear seats you have a capet/liner behind them on the wall and in the middle of that behind the carpet there is a vent . So i brought the wire throught that and under the body and up through rear passanger tail light and in to tub. Job Done :)
Hi bro do u know the difference between dr900x and dr750x
My installer said it's going to cost me another $600 of hardware to connect it to the cloud plus monthly plan fee. Seems odd, and expensive to me.
Hi Adam, Awesome Video Again, My Dashcam Arrived today, Installing Myself after Watching your Vid, Random Question I havnt tested Myself Yet but does Motorway tag Still work/Register from inside top dash Compartment on the Dmax?
Hey mate, yep sure does 👍
@@VideoShowMeHow Awesome,,,👍 I,ll try it myself an test it,, In Your words,,"Well that's where it can live them" lol...Luv ya Vids Mate, 👍
Out of interest, what amp fuse did you use for the constant power supply?
How would you run the cable for a rear camera on a Ute with a canopy
When running the cable did you go above or below the big camera section on the ceiling for the front Camera?
Above
Thanks for the vid. I installed it like you did in my truck, but the black "paint" and center cowling around and under the back view mirror causes major issues with the picture. I don't get anywhere near a 160-degree FoV to that side. Do you have the same issue?
No haven't experienced any issues? Still the same as the little bit of demo footage towards the end. Maybe a faulty unit?
Anyone put one of these into a DMax with a canopy? How/where do you route the rear camera cable?
I am currently looking at doing this. As far as I can tell, we will need to route the cable out through the grommet in the firewall, then along the chassis rail, entering the tub through the grommet in the front wall of the tub. The only other option I can find is to go through the vent in the back wall of the cabin and then into the tub.
@@GregSharkey had to tackle that grommet to get the tailgate lock done. It was pretty tight fit, not looking forward to going there again
@@bobcunningham5176 Thanks, I'm planning the instal tomorrow so will have a close look. Cheers
Didnt need to install the "magic pro" battery saver? Does the 900 pro have auto cut off when detects battery at a certain voltage?
Yep you can set a voltage cut off 👍
Does the dmax have a usb port near the rear view mirror?
no it doesn't unfortunately
Based on what BlackVue recommend 🤷
I can only find military time... I am Central time??
So, if this is in parking mode or whatever it's called, and someone comes by and walks in front of the car, and then breaks into your car and steals things, including the camera, is anything saved automatically to the cloud or your phone, so that you can see who broke into your car and stole the camera?!? Thanks!!!
It's stored locally yes.. you can get s cloud storage option though this uploads the video automatically
@@VideoShowMeHow ..... Ok, thanks! 👍
I want a model that is started by motion while parked as well as while driving. Any that do both? How about nightvision?
Yep this one has a few different parking modes, motion sense is one of them
Notice in the footage the camera is way to high
I am replacing my memory cards...I have an Apple phone...does it matter if I use a Samsung card?
Sd cards are SD cards, the sticker on the front doesn't really have anything to do with it. Won't have a problem, just need to format and you're good to go
Hey Adam, so Blackvue has free cloud service with this model, no SIM card required? Are you able to view live from anywhere? Is this model better than the 750x LTE Plus 2 ch that is only F&R 1080?
Yeah this is full 4k etc, I think you need separate module for the LTE to enable it
@@VideoShowMeHow the 750X LTE has it built in. You buy a AT&T kinda SIM card and pay a monthly fee buts it’s built in. You don’t have to buy the CM 100 and have to attach it somewhere. But it’s not 4K
@@markgray2931 hmmm will investigate
@@VideoShowMeHow I’m
really interested in getting this brand but I’m thinking if they don’t have it out right then they will soon,. A 4K front and 1080 rear with built in LTE. I’d pay a small monthly fee to not had to mount the CM100 and would notifications for motion detection real time sent to my phone. That would be the ultimate!!
If you just want the dashcam to turn on with ignition only do you have to hookup the Battery constant on wire?
It's recommended yes
If you don't want to run the back up power, then just use the 12volt power socket if you have 1.
I noticed it drained my battery 100% after it was hardwired. Where did I go wrong. Shouldn't it have a cut off at a certain voltage?
Hey, yes it does have a cut off you can set, connect to it via the app and in the settings you can change this. I've got mine set at 12.1 cut off
i just got mine today 32gb do you know how much it will record before rewrites??
Depends on settings really, I went straight to a 128g Samsung endurance card much better
@VideoShowMeHow I tried a different sd card it wouldn't accept any other sd card.
You'll have to format it to fat32 or via the blackvue app
Have not had goodluck with Blackvue at all, im on my third replacement set of the 900x since Aug of 2021 (its jan 2022 rn)
Oh no.. what's been the issue?
@@VideoShowMeHow First one kept cycling power over and over and over, second set never worked out of the box at all, and my current set keeps shutting down for extended periods for no reason at all. I have even tried changing the vehicle i have it installed in, reinstalled them with better solder joints instead of butt splices, ive treid everything, but am at my whits end with Blackvue/pittasoft/and black box my car i would advise against ordering from them especially if you live in the USA . They make it seem as if they are a US company on their website when they are Canadian, so returns are serious hassle and they wont pay for your return, first one cost me $60 to return, and they wont allow insurance of more than $10 on the return because of duty taxes or whatever. So if it comes up missing you are out $500. Just all around one of the worst buyng experiences I have ever had.
Where are the links in ur video to purchase through your channel?
$799 on " sale" at repco now
In the video description
Has anyone used the rear camera for a forward cabin view ie Uber drivers or taxi ? Thanks
Can't see why it wouldn't work?
i have an ldv t60 will the way you're doing this work in the t60?
Should do, most dual cabs are pretty well the same 👍
@@VideoShowMeHow okay thanks.
Doe's it has a microphone
Yep
ive had many dash cam’s my latest dr900 pus 2ch and it’s the most expensive and worst one
Which ones did you like best?
How do i know what fuze i need to get for the accesory??
Doesn't draw much, 5 amp is fine
@@VideoShowMeHow Thanks!
Reports say app support is crappy
Has worked fine for me so far?
I can only watch the camera from the car...How can I watch video's when ever where ever?
I think the cloud module enables this
@@VideoShowMeHow do you have to be a member of "The Cloud" to adjust the setting he adjusted??
my settings do not look like his..
Can adjust settings in the blackvue app, need to sign up to their account to be able to enable cloud storage if your dashcam supports
Where was the test footage?
Towards the end of the video?
@@VideoShowMeHow Nope, there was about 40secs of video at the start but that's it. The rest of the video is really, really good though.
Just installed in car and i must be honest not impressed at all the night time footage is shocking. My old thinkware was better at night , an no options for a night mode 🤦
I forgot to mention my lighter is hot 24 7
Does this have sound on playback of the clips?
How do you mean sorry?
Don't waste your money. Blackvue does not support their app very long. As the Android operating system advances, the app will no longer be available way before the camera becomes obsolete. Without an app the camera is a paperweight.
So far so good?
Just checked, they are NOT cheap!
How much?!
@@baghdadcamper about 800 bucks
@@UncleWayne5104 thanks
Worth it! Just got mine.
@@iNd5ky yeasss!!!! Buy me 1!!!!!

You didn't specify on the type of fuse taps. They are not all the same. Wish I didn't take your advice and lost money.
The type for the dmax is specified and listed in the description? The Micro2 is the correct type?
Great video.
