American Makes Chinese People Feel at Home in Fluent Chinese (Why I love learning languages)

- I’ve been out of China for over 4 months now, but I recently found some footage of me visiting a super highly-recommended Chinese restaurant in the Washington DC area. It really felt like I was back home in Beijing, and I had a great time chatting with everyone there!
It was a strong reminder of why I love learning languages so much. You just make people so happy when you speak to someone in their own language, and makes me happy to have that experience with them!
Check out East Dumpling House (老地方) in Rockville, MD if you get a chance, and go support them while we’re all socially distancing!
Note: The video was filmed in late February which is why no one’s wearing masks. I haven’t been going out to film or anything for over 3.5 months now!

东北大姐的店还比较大的，小马的普通话讲的确实很不错，很有语言天赋。你爸爸智利人，妈妈洪都拉斯人，都是讲西班牙语，不过我比较喜欢智利西班牙语的声调。我也算半个智利人了，因为生活在这里二十多年，但遗憾的是西班牙语讲得没有你好，到今年已经离开智利十年了，西班牙语也忘了不少，来到日本很多年但日语也没学到几句，这是个天大的笑话……，欢迎有时间来日本。

I love that place. Also with Karaoke too. It is near Rockville Town Center. Rockville is actually called 石家庄 by the Chinese community in the DMV area. Huge Chinese population in Rockville and Germantown area.
I'm just waiting for the day when he goes to a Chinese restaurant with an ABC.

Man I watched this when you published it but I just watched again and got such a strong sense of missing out. I'm by no means an extrovert but my city was in lockdown for basically the duration in the UK and even before that, our restaurants and culture generally just aren't as warm and friendly like this. I really need to get on a plane and head east!

Well, Chris lives in Beijing and Xiaoma lived in China one year in 2009. It's normal that Chris nearly speaks like a native
Yeah, agree. As a native chinese, I must have to say that the chinese level of Chris is definitely above the avarage level of locals. While xiaoma, actually I can hear the accent distinctly different from locals.

Well, Xiaoma has only lived in China for a year. But Chris was basically spent half of his life in China. So it is quite unfair to compare him to Chris. You gotta check out Laoshu. That dude's Chinese is really good. That dude can speak over 50 languages
