Greetings Tom. I'm now pretty good reading sidespin serves. Sometimes I still try to do too much with them. By the way, got bronze in local senior games so head head to State Finals in September (again).
@Tom Very good bascis! Would've loved if the video covered those nasty very short, very low pendulum serves. You know, those that you need to hit from out of the ball because they're so short.
the easiest way to undrestand sidespin is that always remember that the direction in which your opponents bat go after touching the ball is the same direction in which the ball will go after touching your bat. If you want to avoid that then angle the bat in a way that ball is not allowed to go into that direction.
Hi Tom. Could you please make a video about returning long side spin serves? Different long fast side spin serves.. How to attack those long balls while countering the side spin? For example long fast backhand serve (or long reverse penduluml) to my forehead.. Also long pendulum to my backhand.. It's really hard.. Thanks
They’re not saying anything at all other than you’ll get used to it, which you will without these guys. To know WHICH side of the ball to hit, imagine their swing and where it’ll up, then mirror that side. I say imagine because they can shorten their swing and do a more straight forward motion (as oppose to side to side motion) that the brain cannot translate it fast enough so you train it to.
One of the clearest, most detailed, and helpful videos that I have seen on this subject! Thank you so much for posting this.
Use mirroring is simple way to return side spin serve or rally !😊😊
