    I did this job 4 years ago on our T5.1 and I'm about to do it again; my memory of it being a PITA due to that filter change and its location is confirmed in your video, but nonetheless it is really helpful and serves. to remind me of what awaits when my oil and filter arrives!
    I have a 3l bottle and (manual) pump to feed the fresh oil back in; I've used that across multiple vehicle platforms (Mercedes / LandRover / VW) and it works really well with them all, if needing a refill (obvs) mid job to put the full quantity back in.
    Thanks for a great video 🙂

      It's really not that much of a job I take a long time to go over things in the video to try and explain all for people. Basically it's a few extension bars with a 24mm socket to reach the filter, undo and draw out the side behind the turbo. Then drain fluids. Reinstall plastic spacer and fill 5.2 litres back in. Job done. Keep us posted on how it goes. Remember rags around filter housing to cat oil. You can do it 👍

      @@youcandoit1828 I agree on all points except I don't think your brake servo gets in the way like it does on a RHD vehicle!
      I went outside and popped the bonnet fully prepared to give myself a good talking to as to why I thought drawing out the old filter and housing was so difficult to extract then I realised the servo is in the way for us folks in the UK!
      It still comes out, just not quite so accessible (and I have very long / slender arms).

Next time Lidl are selling the oil pumps pick one up, buy a sump plug filler adapter and some oil ready for the next one if you don't feel up to it this time. You can do it.

    Very helpful video. I 3d printed filling adapter it worked well. Other guides dont mention draining mechatronics, I wonder why? Quite a lot came out of mine. I ended up using the full 6l as a result. I did final check on level not much came out. In this video an assumption is made that it was filled correctly before which may not be the case.

    • @youcandoit1828

      Hi well done in printing the adapter. 6 Litres will work but it's the max. Some of the other dry clutch DSG boxes I believe just have one drain plug. Definitely was filled correctly before as done by VW Main Dealer and all certified . Here in Germany and Austria they bring serving to a whole new level... You can do it :)

    Word of warning here. I've done one this week for a customer. It was last done 39000 miles ago by a main dealer so you would "assume" that the correct amount of oil was in the box. I measured just over 5 litres drained. I refilled correctly by the book using VCDS and the unit took just short of 7 litres. There is a reason why the right procedure should be followed.

    • @youcandoit1828

      Something strange there as VW sell the oil in box’s of 6 litres especially for the job of refilling. Here in Germany VW dealers put in 5-6l. You can do it 👍

      @@youcandoit1828 Thank you for the fast response. Also i have one more question. They filled 6 liter of transmission oil. But when i told them if they did start the car and wait for the oil to reach 35-45 c and then let it dribbing the excess oil to ensure correct oil level.
      They told me no, they only pumped up with 6 litres.
      I think the dsg is over filled.

  • @davutuzun7334
    @davutuzun7334 Рік тому

    This maynot right because oil has expansion under certain temp. Therefore there is plastic leveller in the box on top of drain plug. these gearboxes has very specific amount of oil in them. The plastic leveller sets this amount in gearbox. What you did. You drained cold oil let say 5.3lt then you put 5.3lt cold oil and then you did run the engine. After that oil expanded then you drained off about .3 liter something. Are you sure this is right to do?

    • @youcandoit1828
      @youcandoit1828  Рік тому

      Hi. I didn't drain any oil what so ever after filling the gearbox. I did mention if you want to drain it as per manual than you can. These boxes are not so sensitive as everyone makes out, that's my personal view and experience of others. If you drain the oil from the gearbox and megatronic unit, put in 5litre. If you also change the filter and drain the housing put in 5.5 and you are good to go. The Germans just put in 5 litres. after a change.
      If you are in any doubt just measure the oil volume you drain out and you'll see how much was in there to start with. Of course this assumes it was correctly filled in the first place.
      It's just a gearbox with wet clutches and an automatic gearchange. Hope this helps
      You can do it 👍

    So when you pump oil in where does the air displacement go? Is there a bleed vent?

    • @youcandoit1828
      @youcandoit1828  5 місяців тому

      Yes must be otherwise as the oil heats up the internal area becomes pressurised and would cause oil leaks. You can do it 👍
