  • Simple guide by a Pro - Learn how to First Coat Flats and Butt Joints with our simple guide!
    As professional tapers, we apply a thin coat of compound with the taping process, saving the contractor time, material and unnecessary sanding. Best results are achieved with three coats of compound. As a cost savings measure two coats maybe preferred in areas such as the garage and occasionally the basement, based on the limitations of the project.

  • @pakpukik
    @pakpukik 7 років тому

    Hello. Is there a difference in the way you hold the trowel when applying the coat and wheb cutting? I am referring to angle of the trowel, pressure of the hand and alignment of the blade over the material , i.e is there a side which is more pressed than the other.
    Thanks

    Just not understanding the ripping the paper off part, never seen it done and know mud doesn't bond well to the brown.

      Not sure, even if it is its a common thing to fix in our trade. Besides the tape has only been applied and is coated on. Normally we let it dry first before coating however since this DYI was made for homeowners. Our advance techniques: ua-cam.com/video/3OvmAbmNIiU/v-deo.html

    • @carlkoehler6981
      @carlkoehler6981 6 років тому

      It is probably quick set mud in which it sets up to where you can go over the joints for another coat , it will basically not smear. You cannot sand it while it is like that but you can go over it.

  • @supermodelatlanta1354

    dude why are you going so wide, the tape is 2" wide. you're 2 ft wide. tf?

    • @bklynboyeny
      @bklynboyeny 6 років тому

      Jessica Blackburn
      Yeah, but he’s floating out the factory panel joints that naturally have a recessed bevel way too wide. The two panels meet they make a 5” recess. In short, he is floating factory joints like if they were butt joints. Hence, creating more sanding, more work, and more dust.

    wow so you haven't used the box tools or the bazooka make jobs easy lol you are using a trowel when they have 10 12 inch spatulas you sir work harder not smarter

      He probably has, the video is intended to show home owners who won't have those type of tools to get the job done.
