Hi Mike. An old good tip that works most of the time. However, have you noticed the sparks come around cylinder 1 spark plug cap when you rev the engine? That might explain some hesitation of your engine.

Thanks man I think you solved the whole problem. I put too much carburetor cleaner on it and it was backfiring and after driving it for 50 minutes s would stall at the stop sign only start after a five minute wait and then you’re able to drive another 30 minutes. I did what you did there, it seemed to solve the whole problem and I was looking for all numbers and people to call in South Florida. There’s only two guys in the area that do them. The last guy butchered my car. It’s actually a Sandrail and the other place I haven’t tried yet though this seem to solve the problem. You probably save me about 800 bucks and the worst part about it is I was trying to do preventive maintenance and I put too much carburetor cleaner down there

I think before i install my gas tank on my beetle restoration i am going to clean and treat it for rust, get new fuel line and get a see through fuel filter. it seems like the biggest problem with VW carbs is keeping the dirt out. not going to run them without filtesr like some of these guys and seal it good around the air filter plates good

Thanks, I thought my fuel pump was failing, my Holley is only 8 months, but I did notice the fuel wasn’t a nice stream like before, I tied your way and it definitely helped, it’s still not perfect but hopefully I won’t stall in the middle of the road again. I will have to remove the jets I think to clean it more.

Same issues with my 78 SB Vert started with changing out the tank that was filled with rust debris and new filter ...Still stalling out at traffic lights.
Dismantled and Cleaned the carb. Put a few ounces of Sea Foam in the tank . Still stalling out at lights or when pressing the throttle it kinda wants to die unless I give a few pumps of the throttle but it idling much better. So I'll give this a try and post my results.... Whats your opinion about running No Ethanol fuel instead. Oh by the way I remove the fuel injection system and went with carbs instead.
