    The thing that impressed me most is that you went to the correct drawer in your toolbox every time. I’ve had the same toolbox for 25 years and still need 3 attempts to get the right one. 😂

    Great video !!! I still refer to this video every time I rebuild my carb or even freshen it up. No rambling, no story telling about how your brothers cousin’s friends mom had a bug in the 70s. Just straight and too the point :)

    I appreciate this style of video. More show, less tell. I’ll be using this video tomorrow to rebuild my first one.
    I find the music relaxing, for what it’s worth. 🤷‍♂️

      John have you ever had a replacement carb that the fuel inlet came off? I have a aftermarket Chinese carb and the fuel inlet tubing came off. Brain storming how to install it back until I refurbish my solex; I am waiting on the rebuilt kit.

      @@juniorclassicvwbugs924 I've not experienced that personally, but I've heard of many others who have. I wouldn't try to press it back in, I'd tap it and put a threaded inlet on it...I've got a video where I did that procedure...

      Do it, it’s not difficult. Take your time.
      One thing to remember that appears to be forgotten in the video was to remove the check ball in the float chamber. Use one of the long screws from the tail light assembly. Unscrew the brass grub screw and the ball will drop out. Do not lose it. Lots of folks forget to clean this.

    Just wondering if you also remove the ball check valve in the accelerator pump to clean and de-gunk it, and check/replace throttle shaft bushings. I’ve seen many carbs that needed these two things in order to get the carb working properly.

    • @kentuckyhotwheels
      @kentuckyhotwheels  Рік тому +1

      The bushings on this carb did not need to be replaced. It was only about 10 years old and had limited mileage. Luckily, they were tight, no vacuum leaks or anything like that. Same with the ball check valve. If it had been on older carb and nastier, I would've removed it and cleaned as well. The ultrasonic cleaner does a really good job. I do have an older carb that I'll be rebuilding some time this spring. The bushings will need to be replaced. I'll do another more in depth video on it.

    What causes a PICT 34 carb to sound like it's bubbling / gurgling after shutting off the (warmed up) engine?

    • @kentuckyhotwheels
      @kentuckyhotwheels  Рік тому +1

      Make sure your heat risers aren't clogged...put your hand on the base of your carb after you've ran it for 15 minutes or so and see if it's freezing...

      That is the Volume control screw. It's used to set the idle mixture.Before setting the Volume Control screw, turn the Bypass Screw (the larger screw in the left side) out 2.5 full turns, which is the initial setting.
      Screw the Volume Control Screw in GENTLY until it bottoms out, then unscrew it exactly 2.5 full turns. This is the initial setting.

    Thanks for doing the video. On the idle air bypass, how much resistance should there be to turning it for adjustment. Mine is so loose it would possibly vibrate and turn. Is the o-ring round or does it have square shoulders? Thanks!

    • @kentuckyhotwheels
      @kentuckyhotwheels  2 роки тому +1

      O ring should be round. And there should be resistance. Most new o rings will need a little lube at first just so there isn't too much resistance.
