- Are you spending too long painting each mini? In this video I dive into the tradeoff between quality and quantity as it applies to painting warhammer or DnD minis. Let's figure out where we are on this continuum, and if maybe we belong a notch or two in either direction!

I like how you don't edit out small mistakes. It's a bit of a relief to know it can happen to anyone and it's not a big deal because you'll paint over it later on anyway!
i was just about to go to bed but then Brent decides to upload a video at 3am so I guess I'll be watching this now
gotcha! :-)
@@GoobertownHobbies just finished watching!!! great vid, lots of interesting insights here (using paint remover on just one section of the model??? i'd never have thought to try that) and yes purple is absolutely the best colour!!!!!
No joke, same thing for me, I was shutting stuff down and my phone goes off. Time to sit and enjoy :) sleep can come later.
You are all just so wholesome and lovely. Seeing my painting heroes chatting just fills me up with joy. Thank you!
It was one am for me
Because of this channel I decided to take the leap and decided to get into Warhammer! Thank you Brent for showing all of us the joy of this hobby!
Woooo!!! That's what I like to hear :-)
There is never too long to paint a mini I could sit perfecting blends until my hair is as long and luscious as Brent's.
Edit: Why Brent is the mini painting Bob Ross
1. A great hairstyle that makes them recognizable
2. Calm informative tutorials that help the viewer relax with their soothing voices
3. Wholesome animal moments whether it is cats or Bob's baby squirrels
4. Good at what they do and can do it quickly
5. Settles for imperfection
6. Just nice people
7. They both give good advice that helps others learn
Yeep you right i take as loooong as i need to.
Your comparison of Brent to Bob Ross is spot on! Especially No. 6.
Hahaha, I appreciate the comparison! No one has ever broken it down like this before ;-)
@@GoobertownHobbies Happy to be the first. :D
Let's make a happy little belt buckle...
As someone who is in a routine of batch painting 5 minis at a time i really appreciated this video. I have gotten very efficient at basecoating and washing to a tabletop standard but haven’t pushed myself to really finish a high level paint job in a long time.
I know what you mean, I need to try that again soon myself. :-)
Same as me really.
Can't fake a personality like his. Might very well be the most genuine hobby painter on youtube. Great video.
Oh man seeing you struggle with the eyes made me feel so much better, I always assume everyone else can get it in their first go and it's just me that struggles and makes them look cross eyed 😂 This was such an interesting watch and all the different minis looked incredible!
Hehehe, the struggle is real! There are so many cross-eyed minis out there :-) And thanks, yep the set looks pretty cool from a few feet away!
@@GoobertownHobbies Just an idea: mount two brushes on a compass and paint both pupils at the same time, they'll end up parallel.
Nowadays I skip the eyes, but I used to paint white, ink the edges/socket, then use a gel pen for the pupil.
Great video as always, Brent! I myself struggle right now with the classic - I start painting and get dissatisfied, and then jump to another mini.
Hahaha, total classic ;-)
Remember to save your characters for when you are better at painting character... like after you have painted more characters.. oh wait.
This video is exactly why I just joined your Patreon: all the meta stuff about experimenting, learning, failing a bit and recovering--but always pushing one's own boundaries. Thank you!
All hail the kujo kilt! Now if only i can marry the skill and the relaxed enjoyment of both channel styles into my own hobby time.
Kujo Kilt!!! :-)
You're like the Bob Ross of miniature painting man. And we love your fluffy cats. And all of your stuff really. You're great.
Brent watching you experiment and play around with blending in this video, and curved highlights in the last one, is genuinely encouraging and helps me learn and grow as a painter
I'm so glad to hear that! Keep painting, my friend :-)
You are the Bob Ross of mini painting and I always look forward to learning from you and your videos. As usual, I watch your video and am ready to dive head first into my own mini painting. Thank you. Sincerely.
Dude your voice your persona is so soothing and relaxing. You videos have more therapeutic benefits than you know
Some night the artistic juices flow and then other nights it s back to boring stuff, like washes - it's all down to mood swings I find Brent and I do Chaos and Space Wolves/Ravens and Regal Ravens (My own creation). Cheers for the insight into the world of imagination.
I try different methods too. Sometimes I airbrush sometimes I brush paint. Thanks for sharing these ideas along the figure painting. They all look great!
Right on, thanks John! :-)
Model Color Royal Purple is fantastic as well - picked it up recently and painting with purple became my favourite, too!
oooh, good to know! :-)
I have been feeling really guilty for the fact that I haven't been getting much done on my pile of shame. I have been picking at one mini for 2 weeks now. Its looking great! But I only work on it 1 maybe two hours every other day or so. I have the time, just not the focus or motivation. Your comments in the first of the video reminded me I am not the only one that spends as much time as I do. I don't have to feel guilty I am not pumping out quantity. I work like I work and that is good enough.
So, thank you. For your words, your videos and your efforts.
Paint Bravely, great message in this video! Also, I need that Yeti in my life.
yes it is and yes you do! :-)
Waking up on a Sunday morning. New Goobertown video is up. Life is good
I enjoy all of your videos but this one helps answer a question I’ve been asking myself for weeks.
Thanks!
Sweet! :-)
A big thought to test out something new during this time. Big thanks! Keep on painting!
"As for the tiger, they can't all be winners." *Gasp* As a beginner, I aspire to be able to paint that well.
speeding2fast same. I’ve always been garbage at any kind of visual art I have no instincts for it. I just want to get to a point where they look better than the mass produced painted minis.
First of all, great vid and thumbs up for tackling that topic! It's not an easy topic in a world of Instagram were you can easily see a few compition winning models each day!
As you said, it totally depends on the goal with the mini. At least that's my point of view on the matter over quantitiy vs. quality.
Usually I take way more time on my 40k minis as I know, that at some time, each one could be seen as a single model. Same, if not even more so, is true for my character models.
On the other hand, my Kings of War army, which is mulitbased, stops right at the wash stage for the majority of the models. If I feel like it, I pick out a few more details on the guys in the front row, but as there are quite a lot of minis cramped on a comparatively small base, the overall look and feel is determined by all minis as a whole and not by the single pouch on guy 13 in the 3rd row :)
Also it's a lot more satisfing to play a rank'n'flank game with fully painted, crowded bases :D
rank 'n flank put so many hours of painting in such a small area :-)
Love your videos Brent, you do so much that just resonates with me!
:-)
I have learned alot from this channel, I got back into painting after a 30 year break. My kids encouraged me to return and play age of sigmar with them. Painting can be very therapeutic, and as I'm a professional designer and digital illustrator my standard isn't too shabby. But the challenge is getting up to date with the techniques and media once more.
Glad you're back! Multi-generational family AOS games??? sounds fun :-)
@@GoobertownHobbies a bit confused with some rules but getting there - cheers
Great inspiration. Love the wounded eye when you couldn't get the second eye right. Really inspired.
Great minis. Great video. Great channel. Thank you for all the good videos you make! Greetings from Germany 🖖🏼
I spent so much time on a mini until I feel good with it. First than I laid back and think about the next model.
Once again a nice video from you. Thank you for that
Absolutely LOVE your videos. Very educational, and a great reminder that we are doing this for fun. Also, I really enjoy your laid back presentation style; very "Bob Ross". Please keep up the great work.
As a complete noob to the world of minis, your experiments give such great inspiration- so glad to find your channel! I have over 100 Gloomhaven pieces to paint and your videos turn the daunting into a playground 😊
The Fire Mage and the Axe Guy look especially great. This video has really reminded me that lots of minis don't need tons and tons of painting to turn out looking good. It's inspired me to get back to working to completion for a bit.
Thanks! Yeah sometimes a 2-hour paintjob can turn out pretty decent eh? Go paint something and have fun with it :-)
As always, Brent is one of the most wholesome UA-cam creator. Thank you for this video :)
Brent - Another fabulous video! I really admire your attention to detail and very relaxed approach. You inspire me to be better, and I've learned a lot from watching you. My oldest son is interested in beginning the hobby, and your channel was the first one I recommended. Your voice is awesome! You should tell one of those "Calm" app sleep stories. ; )
I dont even know how I found your channel Brent, but damn.. its a love at a first sight. hahaha... Im a freelancer and still struggle for life, obviously dont have that much money but you makes me really love minis more.
I've been interested in boardgame, tabletop and such for some years now. in fact, I actually have a little background about it in my childhood.
your really motivate me to get and paint my first minis. Im saving for it and hope can start early next year.
keep on Brent, we love you!
Great video about experimenting with the process and giving oneself permission to make new choices and mistakes; and the push to keep learning. Thanks!
I got to admit that I am seeing how these are painting and thinking seriously about how I would go about painting some of my mini figures. I struggle with patience at times but I also can panic and seriously worry about making a bad job too. This has been a great video
Haha, on Friday I also fell into love with Vallejo Purple when I painted up a bunch of cultists for D&D! :-)
It's sooooo goood!!! :-)
I really like how your videos are often more "musing about hobbying while some hobbying goes on in the background". Very relaxing and interesting, definitely provokes my thoughts.
I also like how you bring up how you are willing to just "go for it" without planning too much, and are willing to simply redo things or change colors midway through. I've previously had a more perfectionist mindset when painting (I must get it right the first time!), but I've been hearing your voice in my head when I realize I don't like something, and I've gone through with changing it. I'm in the middle of my biggest project ever (the older Leman Russ model) and have had to make many do-overs. Magnetizing it is difficult, and at one point I had put two layers of basecoat down only to realize I didn't like the color -- so without stopping to plan, I made a decision to mix some paints and achieve the perfect color. Two more basecoats and while it looks very different than my original plan, I love it!
Thanks for your efforts and passion. :)
(And whenever something looks pretty good, but not perfect, I hear in my mind in your voice, "But that's ok. There's a lot of other minis to paint, and this one looks good enough to play with.")
Hey Brent, I just wanted to stop by and say your videos are awesome! I'm super grateful for the meditative educational nature of each of your videos and it helped me paint several minis. You also introduced me to Titan Forge so now I and my 3d printer are very, incredibly happy. Keep up the content man!
Hey Brent! I am making my way through your videos as I’ve just found your channel. It is so relaxing to watch you paint and hobby. Painting is incredibly intimidating to me, so it’s very cool to find someone so positive and relaxed while they paint!
I also really appreciate the cool/good vibes you exude in every video!
Your videos are so soothing and helpful to watch! It definitely makes painting seem less intimidating 🙂
you can do it!! :-)
Thumbs up for Vallejo purple! I am also hyped with it. Good for clothes, but also for mixing with skin tones and browns and have fast interesting shadows
Great video. Myself, like many I believe, started with $150 GW boxed games of 50 miniatures. This was so overwhelming because I also started by trying to match the box art. This left me playing the game for 1-2 years with mostly grey plastic or even worse, never playing the game for 2 years while I fell in and out of the struggle of painting everything in the box before I ever played the game. (eventually finding out that I had put 100's of hours into painting a game that I didnt even know if I liked!)
Very recently with my 4th boxed game I am starting to really see the benefit of having some paint on a model vs none or, a quick and dirty paint job vs no paint job or no game. It's taken about 4 years, but it's starting to click.
Whoa! that's pretty insightful actually, lots of folks DO start with giant boxes and are forced to look at that pretty art... That might be the root of a lot of our hobby psychosis! Thanks for watchin, and glad to hear that you're starting to crank out more painted models, keep it up! :-)
I'm new to painting minis and Brent's videos are amazing and are what finally got me to try. After watching this video I feel it's ok to work at my own speed. Whatever that turns out to be. Thanks Brent!
I love this channel! It’s down to earth, informative, inspiring and relaxing 😌
I could listen to Brent explain anything for hours!!!!
Nice video. I really like the Yeti, it looks amazing. The Djinn is very nice too. I think you should spend some more time on these models. They look good but deserve more time because I think they will all look great (even the tiger)
Totally awesome, love your philosophy. I'm working my way through a bunch of minis so I can do different encounters in frostgrave. Quantity is at the forefront so I have a whole bunch. But I spend much more time on the warband itself.
Nice! Frostgrave seems like such an awesome setting to paint minis for, have fun with it :-)
Inspiring as always Brent! Thanks for sharing your experiences.
This was a great perspective video. I like covering these topics so early in the painting part of the hobby for me.

Good stuff - great to see them all painted up. I signed up because of your other video introduction to Titan Forge and the files are downloading now. Only hiccup is I still have settled on which 3D Printer to buy - just going to have to bite the bullet and buy one. Anyway - enjoyed the videos, keep them coming!
Nice! I've been testing out a few printers, and this generation of resin printers has a ton of similarities. Good luck and have fun :-)
For me 10 hours is a healthy time frame / limit on a normal 28mm human sized figure. It's enough time to pick something new to try or work on improving a skill but still gett the figure done. You have to keep the process joyful and not get burned out. Thanks for keeping youtube joyful, love your vids!
Thank you for your grounded and humble interpretations! The mini painting game can be very intimidating for beginners (like me), but your encouraging style helps my perfectionist brain push on in my own works!
Wow you have really improved your painting skills from your first video until now. Inspiring 👏👏
This video paired well with one of Miniac's latest videos about changing his painting process so he could enjoy painting more and have more fun. At the end of the day for the majority of the people in the hobby that's probably the most important thing. Just also important to realize that challenging yourself, while sometimes scary, can be really fun too!
Also while I'm sure there's more to be done on all the models you painted, I thought all the faces on the human characters looked good, and really elevates the model.
Hey thanks! Scott and I have done this a few times now where we've accidentally made similar videos in our own way, it's always fun when that happens.
Absolutely in love with the colour choice on the eygptian style mage with the scimitar, it actually killed my choice paralysis with a similar mini at my desk. Great Video!
Great tips! great video. And really like the look of a lot of those minis. as a set they really look great too. There's a happy shelf somewhere in your house.
Thanks! Yup, that shelf is powering up quite nicely :-)
You're so inspiring. I have hard with my first project. I am a perfectionist so if result is not as good as I imagined I am frustrated. Your advices looses my own chains a bit. I'm going to hoop into saddle back in! Thanks!
I’ve had similar thoughts when painting, so I’m glad to have come across this video. Exploring different styles usually come to me when I feel I don’t have anything to lose, including time or paint resources. May the spirit of Sam Lenz be with all our blending attempts!
And may his spirit be with you too, friend :-)
The color is actually “purple orks” but you can’t see the orks
I looked and I couldn't find a single stupid fantasy word on that whole bottle! incredible right??? :-)
Them Vallejo gitz are pretty kunnin'
I’m fairly new to the hobby and your channel has helped me so much, thank you 🙏
Wow Brent, if you hadn't told me these were 3d printed I never would have known. It's amazing how far 3d printing has come. Good to know that you can strip them too, so cool.
This makes me excited to paint my 1995 egrimm van horstmann and 5th edition chaos warriors. Love your tutorials by the way.
These look excellent. I love the vibrant and varied colours of each mini. What an amazing result, and in such a short time too!
Hey thanks! :-)
Thank you so much for this video I was starting to procrastinate but a goobertown video always makes me want to paint
Wooo, you got this! :-)
YAY!!! Brent has a new vid.
Getting the basics down neat and tidy Is still really effective!
Just waiting for my printer to arrive then these guys will be slotting into as Frostgrave and AOS battlesmages!
its such a crazy fantastic set which was a hole that needed filling!
Yeah I was thinking about frostgrave the whole time, hopefully I'll get a chance to actually play someday! :-)
Goobertown Hobbies Same here! Keep smashing it!
This video coming out while I was procrastinating taking a shower just made my day, thanks goobertown hobbies first you get me into the hobby now you help me procrastinate!!!
Happy to help! :-)
Practice practice practice. Thanks for the video Brent. That reminds me I need to get my garage cleaned up so I can start airbrushing again
(These look great Brent, I love the *pop*!)
I very deliberately decided to paint my army in sub assembly because of the sheer amount of units I want paint. It's to save time and not swap paints every two minutes.
It's fairly obvious that if you're painting grunts, you want to cut back on the details, if nothing else for your own sanity and to avoid burnout. Not so much for a perfectionist and this is where you need to let go and not paint that bolter or rifle in sixteen colors and blended NMM effects. Just block in the colors and wash it.
You should also respect what it is you buy. There's been a lot of 'shame collection' videos recently and there are people who have too much money to spend and don't appreciate what they've hidden away. For me something like a character model or an expensive single model, like a Primaris Chaplain, is something precious and special (even if they're monopose and all look the same).
You should treat something like that with a modicum of respect and give it the paint job it deserves.
edit; My favourite model is the pipe smoking alchemist, he has so much character to him!
The dark elf you painted is missing warmth in the armor and it'll probably take a little bit of blending rather than a wash.
Agreed! For a nice/ expensive model I'll always want to give those the time they deserve. Some of these mage sculpts are awesome and deserve a 'real' paintjob, but since they're cheap 3d prints I don't feel so bad about cranking out a quick copy first :-)
This is just such an amazing journey you took us on. Inspiring as always.
I loved the use of Vallejo Buff lol. Ninjon poked fun at it before but I find myself using it more often than not. i used it for skulls on a recent mini and it worked as a base.
I started measuring my time for my 40k Harlequin army and it takes me around 3-5 hours per model. I once sat down with my friends for a Discord paint session and while I was busy just getting the base coat right they were finishing full batches. It was a bit disheartening to say the least. I think when it comes down to the question how much time you should invest in your minis you need to distinguish whether you want good looking models or a painted army. Because even though I have one of the most elite, low count army in the game, I'm beginning to get tired of painting the same paint scheme over and over again. I couldn't fathom painting 120 guardsmen to the same standard.
I'm definitely not the type to sacrifice on quality though. After all I take big joy from the feeling of accomplishment of watching my minis on the shelf. So one lesson I take from this is to focus on small skimish type games for my next project or on single models entirely.
Harlequin's definitely have a reputation for taking a while to paint! I bet they're looking cool though, and so few people have harlequin's, so that's awesome, keep goin! :-)
Great video those minis look fantastic.
An interesting point, always nice to listen to your thoughts on the hobby! Congrats on the set that you helped design!
Just got this recommended. Already subscribed.
No year given for when the discount runs out. Get ordering.
Well... some of the larger 3D printed monster minis start getting expensive. The biggest stuff I've done is in the $20-30 range, but I did add it up once and the Artisan Guild Tarrasque would be over $150 of resin if it were printed solid.
That thing is a BEAST! I was just looking at the raging heroes minis last night, those are big boys n girls.
@@GoobertownHobbies Hmm, those do look pretty good, shame most of the stuff on their store is physical rather than STLs. Their Patreon is looking good this month, though, might have to sign up for that. Thanks for the tip. :)
Interesting video! I'm still very much a starter and was painting 4 or so models in a set at a time. Just recently, I started painting many sets making a total of about 15 models all at the same time. This was because I'm kinda playing catch up with models released as part of a magazine subscription. I know now that I very much prefer to take my time with painting. I kind of knew that from day one though as I have motor control issues and wanted to take time to try and get good or at least OK results. Thing is though, the larger 'batch' of models have the same, basics, paint scheme - I can see the benefit of fast flashing through their painting [up to a point where more time is needed on detail].
I quite enjoyed seeing / hearing your point of view on these issues.
Great video as always Brent, I do tend to try and paint as quick as possible. Thinking about it, I would benefit from slowing down to focus on techniques and trying to improve.
I enjoy this channel because you can actually see your painting improve more and more as if we are on the journey with you.
Hahaha, thanks! Yeah I hope my painting keeps getting better, I think our channels are a fun little record :-)
@@GoobertownHobbies indeed they are
I'm slow but I'm pretty new so it's all learning for me right now. Great video and good luck with the bubbles and meniscus painting too :)
thank you goobertown hobbies. Your art to be kreative withe your way to painting is really helpful for me. I paint not really Manny. I start last year to paint for the board games Scyth. (17,5 mini are finished) And I watch a lot of your videos and some from other guys to learn more about painting. To find what can I do to became my best result, with my skills. Thanks a lot.
I am always so happy to listen to your insights on the hobby. You always seem to remind us all that its okay to not always paint display level minis and remind ourselves to just enjoy the hobby and not overstress it. Ithink showing that tiger will actually go a longer way mentally to some than one might think when it comes to getting minis done rather than trying so hard to compete. If any of that made sense xD Keep up the good work Brent!
I understand you, Brent :-)
This is so relaxing and satisfying to watch- it makes me want to pick up a paint brush! Kudos to you, although you worked fast you achieved smooth creamy looking colour on all the minis - very impressed. And wow, the painted minis highlight just how **dynamic** those Titan Forge minis look... I want a set! Thanks Brent, keep the videos coming, they are so good.
P.S. On the Yeti think about Polar-bear fur; although it's white there are underlying grey-brown, even blue, tones. You could wash the fur with a darker tone, do a heavy then light drybrush, then highlight. (Or even wash once with brown, drybrush, then a light wash of another tone, like blue, before final drybrushing). Perhaps put some dirt and mud up it's legs, stick on some foliage (stuck in it's fur), throw a broken-tree on the base. Or here's a really bold one; put a tree/rock on the base, airbrush the shadow of the tree/rock onto the Yeti, and airbrush some lighter tones on one side to give sunlight effect.
I hadn't thought about polar bears, that's a great point. Obviously I have a few more yetis here on my desk, I'm gonna have to give that a try! :-)
Hey, i've watched a lot of vids from your channel, and i finally started my first wet palette mini xD Thanks for your tutorials, they're very helpful for me.
nice! :-)
@@GoobertownHobbies I make a Video about it. I know i'm not the biggest player on YT (definitely not) But can i show you the result when i'm finished?
I've used acetone to the same effect for stripping targeted sections of a mini, I used a cotton swab too!
So you like purple eh? I think u got your lizard men paint scheme. Purple skin with orange fade to yellow highlights on shield. You could even do the same orange fade to yellow scales on back, or blue to lightly blue scales. Very interested in your lizard men lol
Or purple skin with teal scales and the orange to yellow shields! 😀
Don't tempt me, Chris!!! (that sounds pretty good though... ) :-)
For me, I realized was doing little to no painting because I was so hard on myself to get it "perfect". It would take me a week or two for one unit, which would burn me on painting for awhile.
However, once I started doing simpler paint jobs and simple bases, I realized I was happy making sure there wasn't bleed over and some basic highlights.
The main help for this was my own frustrations, but also coming across your chill approach and Uncle Atom's videos on the similar subject. Now I'm painting up my game pieces to the point they have some character, but I'm still able to punch through a unit or a warband/posse for smaller wargames like Pulp Alley, Dracula's America, etc.
I love this. As a new painter it's great to see these more simple techniques and how far they can go. Also I get my 3D printer in a month and can't wait to print titan forge minis!!!
OH DUDE! Vallejo Purple is a staple of mine too. Such a good paint.
14:30 Maybe you could try to apply a dark wash allover the fur and then dry brush with the same colour that you used for the basecoat. And also strengthen the edge highlight on the horns. Oh and the tiger stripes look pretty decent by the way ! You might not be happy with how this model look but at least you learned how to paint tiger stripes and that's what really matter: improving your skills (that's like half the fun of painting minis)
Hey thanks for the advice! I needed the guidance on both of those :-)
Brent, your tip about LA's Total Awesome was sheer providence. Was painting a Servant of the Abyss chaos cultist, had a great base coat for his skin, Malific Flesh from Vallejo. Went to do some highlighting and chose a Scale 75 color, I forget which one right now, but as I sit here now, I still don't know how it happened. The Scale 75, despite being nice and this just tore up the undercoat of Vallejo, causing a ton of rips and tears. Mind you everything was dry between coats and everything was thin. Anyway, not the point. I stripped the troubled areas of skin with your spot clean tip and just brush on primed and rebase coated. May not be the cleanest ever but after stippling on a cloth effect for hours I did not want to have to strip the whole mini. THANK you for saving me hours of work, not sure I would have tried that otherwis.e
I will sit totally focused all day, I don't eat, I might make the odd cup of tea, but I'm totally absorbed in what I do. I have had a project going since the UK lock down. it started with a box of savage Orcs.
First of all I know I wanted to modify them so they looked savage!
So I spent a lot of time on that then I did a zenathol prime. then I chose the base and style ( I read somewhere that some savage Orcs could be red skinned so that was the choice. Dragon red) It took me 7 hours to paint them, then I wasn't satisfied, so I built a set of standing stones to go with them. Then I decided I wanted a large cauldron then I decided it needed a spoon and then I decided I needed a circle of stones with scrub brush in it for a fire. I'm now working on the flames ----
Hehehe, I always love hearing about your dedication, Andrew. I'm developing quite a strong mental image of you sitting in a dark mountain home surrounded by orcs and goblins and DAS clay and bits. Go get yourself a snack tho! :-)
Just poicked up the set to print, looking forward to playing with these, thanks for the code btw.
As an automotive detailer, I love my APC (all purpose cleaner). Super Clean smells soooo good (as cleaners/de-greasers go). Nice to know I have another reason to use it.
I loved that shout-out to Sam!
I took a class with Sam last year, and the biggest take-away was the importance of wet blending. I need to do my homework! :-)
Depends on what standard I'm painting to.
Just troops and a basic tabletop standard takes me about 16 hours for 20 guys.
If it's a character to a descent high tabletop it takes roughly 7 to 12+ hours. Depending on the mini.
If I'm going full on crazy for a competition or display piece? Well, that can take anything from 40 hours to 300+ hours. Again, depending on the mini.
I've already spent over 100 hours on my Archaon, and I've still got a lot to do on him.
That Archaon is gonna be crazy!!! Keep goin :-)
My high school german teacher once said: There is no quality without quantity. I guess he was kind of right, with a lot of interpretation.. :D
