We built an armored car out of a V10 diesel Volkswagen Touareg, brought it through a Dunkin' Donuts drive-thru, and then tested it ballistically. Built with @_Gingium_ , @VasilyBuilds , and @Vtuned .

The vw is neat but a komatsu bulldozer is more effective.

Alternator replacement. Good luck with that one.
Problem is, you have to remove the steering wheel, exhaust manifold, and slightly deflate the right rear tire to remove the oil drain plug...
The gooseneck would have rusted to pieces by now it has been a whole year

They made it of mild steel maybe 1/4in thick. The only reason the 300 blackout stopped was due to the angle of the plate. Any other angle would have gone through

Here in Brazil most of the V8 Touaregs of that generation was armoured. It was so expensive that this car was a very luxurious one for the public
This one here cost $75000 when it was new in 2007 and the dollar was still valuable ….

What a great effort by all, something very different but I don't think we would get away with it in Australia.
Used to work for a company where we would deliver cars for review purposes to writers and editors. VW/Audi was one of the manufacturers we had as a client. I remember taking one of these V10 TT diesels fairly far to deliver, it was a great ride. The torque of the engine was so satisfying.
Nice 20 min add for HTP! 😁 Really though, this was a great video.
I remember Clarkson chaining a tree to the hitch as he casually explained the stats and showed the torque vectoring diffs in action as he dragged the tree like it wasn't there. Speaking of dragging trees, hows the excavator?

I just hope he never has to replace the alternator. They are cooled by engine coolant because they were developed initially for the Dakar rally at wide open throttle with a bunch of bright rally lights. Because of this, they are very expensive ($3K) and are very hard to find.

What was the feature used on that piece below the windshield? Everyone seems stoked by it, and is the welder water cooled?
You can get a tig water cooled torch and water cooler. This one here as a tig torch from the oil industry that is good for 300+ amps on engine drives… so you can weld air cooled full power as well …

So a V10 is the base to build an apocalypse ride on 🤔 I get it where do I sign up if I’m not mistaken there were 4 different types of weld this new HTP 2500 produce, it’s a game changer 👍🏾👍🏾
