Is there a good reason why almost all U trucking firms only buy 6x2 tractors, not 6x4 which would be a lot more useful not just in snow but when its wet pulling a full load too, eg up a hill.
@neilrobertson811 yes due to doing European work so European spec trucks being lowriders with large fuel tanks on both sides .. hence no room for a lift axle

For people who want to know 2 axle are 38t but three axle run at max weight 44t,it all depends if your carrying a light load he might only weight 38t but a heavier load might mean 44t is appropriate then you could lift an axle to put more weight on the drive axle for a bit more grip but 2 axles cant do that like the ones farmfoods or tescos run.
Haha a great watch I live in Ponte but never saw the aftermath I set off for work at 3:15am had no issues but the snow was still fluffy it wasn’t until mid morning it started to get compacted in
The issue is attempting to drive with summer tyres. All season or winter tyres are the solution. There is a lot more snow in Inverness and with all season tyres it's nae problem.
Except its not just the tyres - you need seperate wheels too. It all costs a lot of money not to mention time to get them changed which a lot of people don't have just for those couple of days a year for when they might actually be useful.
Getting stuck in this level of snow has little to do with the drive train, and more to do with the lack of winter tyres. Not many people including myself have winter tyres, but great to see you lads making use of your car and helping those people out 👌🏻

The BMW just goes to show that it’s not about having 4x4. It’s about the right tyres. Always impressive seeing you guys towing the HGVs though. Little tip though with those that don’t have a towing eye. Most HGVs have the same towing eye and you can buy them online. If it’s not obvious where the receiver is for them then normally it’s behind the lower drop down grille or open the main grille.
And this is why winter tires are mandatory throughout winter months on mainland Europe. Doesn't matter if there is 3°C and no snow outside or -10°C and half a meter of snow. Summer tires don't really function under 5°C.
